The one who coached me (for the brief while that I trained) once told me, "don't be an out-fighter because you dislike getting hit. Get competent and experienced in every range so you can fight at range out of choice." I think I learnt a lot from that back then, because a lot (in fighting, and in life) comes down to how good one can be in the avenue that one is worst at. I think one of the advantages the legends have is that they are extremely adept at managing their counter-style (or shadow, in some sense). Good luck with your foot!
Hey Sylvie, thank uou for your runcast and for what you are doing for muay thai. I was born in 1974 and I agree it is amazing how fast the world changes. I come from an era when there was nothing like internet or social media. And call it cliche but I think the world was a better place without it, although without the internet and without RUclips, I never would have had the wonderful pleasure of meeting you and enjoying your work 😊😊😊!
I have to say Sylvie your channel has made such an impact on my Muay Thai i began my journey always focused on one style thinking I couldn’t be anything but what style I was told but your older vids on not worrying what style I am has really helped me explore different styles and schools of thought within Muay Thai which I think has benefited me a lot thank you ❤
speedy recovery sis great cast. i had similar begging off the year with my opp on my foot i was in hospital 3 months an off work no training staying off it when i went back to training i lost a lot strength from not doing anything. great cast 🙏
Great talk and thoughts Sylvie. I enjoyed listening to your insight. I'm guilty of being lazy and falling into the femeu style haha I want to learn khao though to balance out the long range style I tend to lean towards.
Sylvie, one thing that I'm suddenly curious about is what direction would some of these legacy fighters like to see Muay Thai develop. As an example, what might they like to see if it grows overseas; US, AUS etc?
Hi Sylvie, love these long form runcasts it's a very organic exploration of different topics and the analogies/explanations behind the eureka moments are always very illuminating. I've actually been dealing with a sesamoid injury for over a year now, getting orthotics soon so pleased to hear they made a big impact for you. Which runcasts episodes do you talk about your injury? I definitely remember you expressing you don't visit a doctor chiefly because the treatment will be so conservative you'd probably ignore the advice and you consider rude and wasteful to visit a professional when you're probably gonna ignore their opinion but couldn't spot the episodes. Cheers!!
@@anbuya I don't think I was doing runcasts when that injury was pertinent, so I don't have one on that topic. But when I came back to running when it was getting better is probably when I started them, so maybe look at the first one.
Sylvie what donyou think of RWS? My coach says its a good compromise between entertainment Muay Thai and traditional Muay Thai. But when i watched a few fights it looked like OneFC with big gloves, still very enterment Muay Thai
Good lord, it is going to take me sooooo long to break breathing issue. Im sure it will come with time. I guess I will try to focus on it during knee/teep drills. Relaxing will take even longer lol.

My coach makes a big deal out of breathing with every strike as you can never stop attacking when you do this, you wont ever get tired
