    It's so cool how a seemingly horrible position is so powerful. In wrestling, double underhooks is the most dominating position. Over hooks can be dominant usually when you have proper head pressure. (head under the chin) This position just seems straight up horrible until you see it in action. No under hooks or over hooks. Just should pinch and head pressure. Completely controlling someone. In wrestling, theres a term "where the head goes, the body follows". Looks like having the shoulder pinching the head with enormous head pressure controls the spinal alignment. You can't posture the way you want when someone "locks down" your head.
    Does he use any other hand grips when long clinching? Seems like the proper grip is to grab your wrist with one hand. It looks like he almost transition down to the elbow at some point. There's gotta be some sort of awesome variations of this clinch style! I can't wait to see more.

      It seems that the main variation is where you put the 2nd arm. You can slide up to the wrist, or slide it back down into a "4" position, creating a zip tie. Yes, it's amazing that it takes a position that should be weak and makes it strong.

    This hurts like crazy when you get in this position (with the head jammed in and the arms pulling their jaw onto your face). You see in it in kata saifa in karate. In the kata they then pull both arms back but I have not quite figured out why.

    do you think this clinch work better for shorter fighter?
    the shorter one can easily pin his head to his opponent's jaw

    Is there a long clinch counter

    • @8limbsUs
      @8limbsUs  6 месяцев назад

      @Sean-rawlins absolutely, but it depends how good the person doing the long clinch is. Once he's in, there's no counter. You have to stop it before the lock is set.

      @8limbsUs hey Sylvie do you have any videos talking about the more strength based posture breaking style of like Petchboonchu? I loved this one and the ones with Yodwicha, but I really like just the tight squeeze crushing style of Boonchu! Thank you

    Is there a risk for a knee to the face with a knee that goes straight up? As a joke i will do that with friends in the gym cause I can bring my knee to my shoulders without breaking posture so I can bring one straight up the center to head level.

    • @8limbsUs
      @8limbsUs  7 лет назад +1

      Not really. If there was this would be the first thing an opponent would do. There is too much posture control, and the head pressure makes this unlikely.

      Thanks! I didn't think it was but then again i know that the obvious answer may not always be so easily done when things are actually in the moment. Hope you are feeling better from that fever, thanks again. 👍👍

    sylvie what makes him so good at this style? his size , power or genetics? anything in particular? id imagine if 10 people trained the same number of hours as him in this they would all be way inferior to him.

    • @8limbsUs
      @8limbsUs  7 лет назад +1

      I think only that he learned from a very young age, and really took to it. And, as a kid he trained very hard. I knew him before he moved to Bangkok.

    I saw an important interview of Thai Legend Samart Payakaroon. What do you have to say about the state of Muay Thai at current times ? Has the judging and scoring by giving more points to the clinch style is endangering the Art of Muay Thai towards extinction ? Has it become more like Wrestling ? How much does the Gambling affect the style and art of Muay Thai ? Please click on the link to watch the interview. Thank you. ruclips.net/video/e1GD144XurY/видео.html

    Hi Sylvie, yes it's a good clinch. But I have a solution against this. Just 2 stokes and it's a knock down, if my 3th stoke pass it's a knock out...let me know in the comments if you find it ❤ Chess mate ♟️
