Sounds like exactly what I’m going through with my 2012 Ram Laramie 5.7 Hemi. I did same as you, plugs, then coil pack. Getting ready to replace the injector but wondering if I shouldn’t just go straight to the PCM. Thank you for the detailed video. However my BIGGEST surprise of the video was seeing a familiar face from a Model Railroad channel I’ve been watching! 😉
The min 25:43 was my favorite to see you smile after many attempts you finally did it. I have the same problem I check everything already coil,sparplugs,cam sensor crank sensor,valves and now I'm starting to believe it's the pcm.
Did you ever swap your PCM? Any luck?

On my case it was a bad lifter roller and f***ed my cam

This is awesome progress. For the ECU swap on the scan tool there should be a ECU replacement procedure that will swap over the the vin, skim...etc... to the new ecu. If you are going to get a new ecu from a company, normally the supplying company will program the new ecu with your vin options and current software version, which should clear the rest of the errors.
I'll have another look at it tomorrow. I was just so happy to have resolved the main faults.

Hi, I had a pcm replaced and the supplier programmed it with vin and software and plugged in and go perfect but now I can not add any keys to it and I only got one and it's broken and can't even lock my car unless I do it manually with metal key. Any suggestions does it need more programming. Thank you.
@@ScottRods Hi Scott, where did you get the replacement pcm, and what did it cost you? same issues on my 2009 Ram 1500

Pcm - powertrain control module, engine and transmission
Ecu - engine control unit, engine only

I had one in my shop last week Bad Battery and chicken fried PCM, I sent it the customer to AA
If your having idling issues it could be your oil pressure, can swap it out with a high volume oil pump, I believe from a hellcat will bolt up and give you more oil volume
Glad you found the issue Dave, computers are great till they aren't. You should be able to clear those codes in the proper modules in the PCM
The red flashing light is the security light. You need to relearn the key to the pcm or ecu

Not sorted the other new codes yet. I need to take to Chrysler, they won't give me the security pin code for my own truck.
@@ScottRods The truck is running and driving at least which is great. And yeah I've heard that the dealer is iffy about giving security pins, probably some kind of security or liability thing. Either way im really happy for you, you never gave up and you got the truck fixed. At the end of the day it's a success, so congratulations.

I have been highly considering the D8 it seems like it would almost pay for its self the first time I need a key. It cost me over $400 for a key for a 2001 Dodge Ram

@@ScottRods that's who I just seen review the D8. And it definitely caught my attention. I would think you could charge someone at least $120 to come to their house and make a key for them.
Just the comment I was looking for! I've used some top notch diagnostic tools like CAT ET and DLB (International) when I did heavy diesel. When I moved to mobile mechanic work I used the shop's SnapOn Modus Ultra ($7,000+). I know next to nothing about these smaller consumer scanners and wanted one that could do what I needed without costing as much as the car I'm working on. My current $50 scanner is only slightly more helpful than frustrating. Looks like the D8 is in my future. Glad you got the problem fixed. I may be looking at a PCM for my wife's 5.7 Aspen too.

Help.... my truck is a 2013 ram 1500.. im having the same multiple mis fires codes.. its idling rough and driving i can feel it missing.. i change all plugs and all the bad coils and cleaned the injectors and swapped them and still missing... do you think its the PCM ?... ):

Can I ask where you got your pcm? I just got lifters done was running g great and I’m getting cylinder 7 misfire and p1417. Mechanic says I need a new pcm.
Didn't understand the misfire. You have multiple misfires? We're you able to fix?
what a battle Dave . i am have a battle with 2008 ford Mondeo power steering to . about 8 or 9 months ago I put another rack in it because it started locking up turning left and was all good for about 4 months and got really hard to steer and was noisy so put a pump in it . all parts so far 2nd low ks as mine has done 300+ks . was a real bitch to bleed but got there . but again a few weeks later hard to steer again . so read they have a filter in the Reservoir so got a new one again was a bitch to bleed was ok for few weeks . ok so every time we had it apart we had put in new fluid and the right spces as far as i know so this time got 2 1 liter bottles of ford power steering fluid just in case that was the problem . and flushed it with one bottle and still hard to steer so got another high pressure line thinking it might of been collapsing or something nope still the same . ok so this point we were thinking maybe the new rack was bad ( valve getting stuck maybe ) so yesterday put another rack in it and guess what its still the same but its not noisy now lol . and the dumb thing is there is nothing else to change apart trying other pump again because may its now fucked to from the other rack . i am about ready to burn it out lol
Wow. What a nightmare. I would be looking at the wishbones and drop links. My thinking is, if the rack is good, then there might be some physical resistance being applied between the track rod ends and the road surface, which is then feeding back to the rack and steering wheel.
Maybe the sway bar is doing seething weird preventing the steering from moving smoothly.

Go in to the abs function of your scan tool, you should be able to erase the abs and traction codes👌🏼

I have the exact same issue at 3000 rpm. Check engine light and runs rough. 2 mechanics and the dealer can't figure it out
Multiple times new plugs new wire new coils new camshaft position sensor new map sensor Compression test is good cam and lifters are good
I have now sold that truck, but it was running great after the pcm swap. I did have to take it to the dealer to get the pcm coded to the new vin, but only cost about 70 bucks.

@@ralpheguerra thx for the update; good luck with the 2022; my uncle gave us this 2009 Ram when he bought a New 2019 Ram - two years later his 2019 with Hemi & e-Torque (with only 10k miles) was acting like the electrical system was possessed. Insurance co totaled-out (paid out in full) the truck shortly after, when another driver t-boned the front-end of the 2019 Ram (their fault). He's done with Dodge Hemi's!

@@ScottRods that Diablo sounds like a cool idea.
@@jeremyTallen1 Since the Ram is a 2010, the pcm can be tuned with a Diablo tuner, no need for an unlocked pcm one as this year is not locked.
What scan tool are you using? I see it is Xtool, but which model?
