  • There’s much more to essential tremor (ET) than just the physical aspect. It can be emotionally debilitating, leading to anxiety, isolation and depression. In this video, Karen talks about how difficult and exhausting it was for her to go out.

She's so right: it's not that other people say anything nasty necessarily, but you feel bad anyway.

Right? If it's only me it bothers on day to day life, sure, especially on tasks that demand dexterity. But everytime I visit my family someone comments on my hands shaking and although I know it isn't meant to hurt me I feel anxious and insecure having to explain my ET to them

Bless her, for me it’s to the point of social interaction and I already experience anxiety but I told mine was brought on and linked to my anxiety I was already a self conscious teenager child before this and shy so yes it’s really really impacted me like anxiety is say a cancer and the tremor has formed it’s own tumor connected to it so that’s how it feels to me xx

I am 56 with Essential Tremor. It started when I was 40. It’s gotten worse and keeps getting worse. I need to use both hands to put on eye makeup, drinking can be very difficult. I am now feeling my head bobbing when I try to peek out my window blinds. My voice is becoming unsteady. These things are not tremendously pronounced yet but definitely enough to make me feel uncomfortable around other people. 🤯

@@crystalpifer7379 I’m sorry to hear, it’s so frustrating 😫 I’ve been on some of the medications mentioned (for migraines) it worked well for that, did nothing for ET, and I got off of it because the side effects are much worse than the tremors. I have the occasional glass or so of wine or cocktails and there is a huge improvement! No tremors. 😁 Not a good idea to be drinking all the time though 🤣

I'm much younger than 40 when essential tremors are suppose to accur
