Appreciate the effort Ben Kenney is putting in to, now doin' the slap piece of the song. That's answerin' what fans want. Both Dirk & Ben are great. Ben is incubus for the last 16 years. Let's accept that shall we?
in my opinion as bassist ben is more harmonical and rythm type of bassist.. dirk lance is more kind of a of technical type of bassist, but either way incubus music is still the best..
+Solid Snack - harmonical musicians seek to attract an audience of musical laymen, whereas technical musicians such as Dirk Lance or Gavin Harrison seek to attract the police of progressive musicians.
I don't care for this version of this song..I like the more jazzy, or acoustic version that they do much better..But that's what Incubus does, they like to change up their original songs to newer versions..Love this band, they are the Coolest, and nicest guys ever..I hope they forever stay this way, so far they have!
Old or new incubus is still the best. And guess what? Ben strums the bass too. If you can see on their rehearsal jam on Incubus HQ, it fucking sound so fantastic and DJ Kilmore starts to play some funky music on the table. Their so fantastic. Stop comparing the old and new incubus, even the bassists. Dirk is still on the band. Dirk and Ben are fantastic bassist. Love them both \m/
Ben is a great bassist as well as Dirk. Difference is that Dirk played a style I never heard before and haven't heard since. They lost that signature sound when Dirk left. As for bringing up "old crap": if it weren't for their past music and fans they wouldn't be around today for you to enjoy. I've been to 14 of their shows. I've given them plenty of my money, and I have every right to criticize. When you grow up and your favorites change, it will sadden and piss you off as well.
I want to think that, but i've seen some of the latest live videos and he sounds pretty much the same IMO. Could it be because he's getting older? I hope that when i get to see them, he'll be spot on like you said :\
effff this is amazing!!! Not gunna lie i was going to be sad if it was their acoustic... not that i don't like that one i just haven't been able to listen to science in a while.
Boyd sings like he's not having fun, lacks rage, voice range, and he often has difficulty reaching high notes... Remeber the old "pro...crastinaaaaate" yell, now replaced for something I don't how to call
[Insert random comment about how old Incubus was better and the new stuff is gay] Why do you guys still follow Incubus then, because you "love" them? It's been YEARS since they did this stuff. I would figure you guys would move on by now if you are not happy. I don't follow bands I don't like anymore. I understand they appeased your tastes then, but they are not your slaves, and they have their own interests and passions. For them, those days were likely just a phase. One many of us go through.
Ben has nothing on their original bassist. Nor is he playing those parts correctly. He's just slapping on muted notes. Dirk was their talent and Ben was their downfall. They haven't been the same since he left.

This song is so fucking awesome.
Hey, this was almost 2012 A.D.
Wow Ben playing the slapping parts. First I seen him doing that. =D Makes a bassist like me proud.
The way to sing that song is still awesome. Currently it speaks to me. It was ahead of its time to listen.
Mike Einziger is one of the most underrated guitarists of all time. Oh, and Brandon Boyd looks like Jesus in this.
Oh shit Bens actually slapping the bass
They Still got it, never lost it.
i so badly want to see them live!!!
Now that we have the slap we don't have the scream -.-
Luís Varela 😂😂😂
in my opinion as bassist ben is more harmonical and rythm type of bassist.. dirk lance is more kind of a of technical type of bassist, but either way incubus music is still the best..
Out of curiosity what does it exactly mean to be a technical musician? I hear people say this about Gavin Harrison as well.

Awesome! Incubus rocks, these guys know how to play live!
Really? I thought this was a pretty poor performance...
So effortless.. so smooth.
WOW old days I love this song
Love Incubus!!!!
first good quality video of this I've seen from recent years....awesome

Im just flipping my stick, no biggy. HES SO FUCKING BADASS!

ben playing the slap parts, word

seeing them live is still rated among the best live shows i have ever seen! reminice... still got it!
wow they should make more performances of old songs, fuckin awsome

Vox AC30. Nice. I have an AC15 and they are such nice amps.
😍🤩🌳🌲🌹
No, the comment wasn't a waste of my energy. And, I continue to follow them because their old catalog is great. It's not going anywhere.
@Smuffleri Word.
dat bass
jamás la habia escuchado!
they haven't been the same since way before that

Hold on a second! Kil is wearing a Steelers bracelet at a Baltimore show! hahaha so wrong!

Mike needed to turn up the gain a bit on this one. The guitar didn't bite as much as it did in the original.
I love Jose, but am I the only one who felt that he does the chorus too slow this time around?
+Tyler Melton - No, I felt the same.
almost the same thing like 14 yrs ago,
but i miss that SCREAM dude..
its still as awesome!
but the SCREAAAMMM....
HAHAHAH..
nvm!

What a relief to hear this after 'Last Album's Gay Crap'.
effff this is amazing!!! Not gunna lie i was going to be sad if it was their acoustic... not that i don't like that one i just haven't been able to listen to science in a while.
there's one with a certain shade of blue
This whole 'Dirk' vs. Ben, new vs. old Incubus argument is tired and old. Let's retire it please.
It's about time the new bass player learned to slap after replacing Dirk.
Yeah, past is past, pls. move on with ur lives & enjoy Incubus the B-E-S-T band of our generation.
and the dreadlocks :D
damn Dirk Lance shine with his basslines in here man..miss Dirk
Yet you continue to follow them and waste your energy commenting.
..oh.
Just not quite the same band since Dirk left. Ben is a good bass player, but Dirk brought some serious funk to Incubus
Boyd sings like he's not having fun, lacks rage, voice range, and he often has difficulty reaching high notes...
Remeber the old "pro...crastinaaaaate" yell, now replaced for something I don't how to call
its almost like they cant even play the old stuff good anymore
The other bassist had a way better way to grove on the pop and slap on the verse. Speaking as a bassist myself. The old bassist is way better.
he also played a 5 string. Ben doesn't even seem to touch them, even if the older songs actually used them
I didn't think it was gay... ;)
Seriously I thought it was pretty good. The band has actually MATURED with experience. Go figure!
not quite my tempo

That sounds terrible!!
Too slow. Crap bass playing in the verse
Yeah, this performance pales in comparison to the studio recording...
TERRIBLE. acoustic version on the other-hand is amazing.
Total dumpster fire without Dirk! Slap the bass the way it was intended on this song or find yourself a damn back track!!
