The Nerion Quartet was founded by members of the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra. The name "Nerion" is Greek for Oleander, the official flower of the city of Hiroshima. After the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, people widely believed that for at least 75 years, nothing would grow in the scorched soil. Yet the Oleander was the first flower to bloom soon again, giving the survivors hope and courage to rebuild their city.
