Last week I had the privilege to watch their concert and when a friend or colleague ask me about how was it, I explain with an exemple : if the string quartets ensembles where a color pencil case, the ensembles of students would a case with 4 or 5 colors. The professional quartets, 12 to 15 colors. The top Internacional quartets, 25 to 30. Ebène would be a case with 60 or more colors. Not only they play together, but as ensemble they do it with love and respect to each note. They bring colors and lines you normally don't hear or noted. They are a great inspiration for me and for lots of students and professionals! Well, I guess for anyone who likes music :)
00:45 Introduzione andante con moto - Allegro vivace 12:14 Andante con moto quasi allegretto 14:42 Second thème de l'andante 22:33 Menuetto: Grazioso 27:06 : Fin du menuet - transition vers le quatrième mouvement 27:45 Allegro molto
Can we please make this the standard for filming quartets (and other chamber music)? Please? No more incessant action cuts and zooming up the performers' nostrils. Please for the love of god.
Nein. Die Videos mit Fokussierung auf solistische Abschnitte sind doch sehr schön und eine besondere Gattung. Hier habe ich die Position des Zuhörers im Konzertsaal
Beethoven's works in general are excellent (symphonies, concertos, string quartets, piano sonatas, etc.), but this Op.59 no.3... Oh my God, is PERFECT For me is the best quartet written by my master Beethoven. Thanks Quatuor Ebène for this execution so amazing!
it's this habit of raising your bow high as a signal the piece is done. This could have cost Colombet a precious bow. I can't wait till violinists quit this.
We had the good fortune to attend their concert at Princeton--then watched the move "4." They are amazing artists with deep understanding of the music, composers, and what they mean to us.
I've only just discovered the Quatuor Ebene and the metaphor of the colours is perfect, maybe even a little understated! Music by the master is already vital and alive. They make it fly and dance.
I was left speechless and spellbound all the way through. I have never heard anything like it in my 77 years. (I was a professional violinist and played a lot of chamber music myself.)
Finally,a quartet that understands that the tempo should increase slightly at 32:16, even though it is not so marked in the score. That’s when the movement flies
I do like the camera setting to cover all 4 persons and 4 instruments equally. It enhances the musical effect of Quartet mood and harmony all together.
Quatuor Ebène interpretazione perfetta dei sentimenti dell'autore. Bravissimi
just noticed that Marie Chilemme plays the first note of the final movement a fifth higher than it's printed, then immediately reverts to pitch. has anyone else heard this done before by other quartets?
The Quatour can not be invited to Russia because its name the way its pronounced (not the meaning of the word) is a strong obsenity in the russian language.
ébène means ebony, referring to the black coloured wood used for the fingerboard on string instruments :) I don't know enough about Russian to know the other meaning it infers...

This is such a great analogy that inspires synergy that goes far beyond just playing the right notes together.
The Ebene quartet are taking quartet playing to a new level and I just love the journey, fabulous.

Did Pierre hit the microphone stand with his bow at the very end? It's the Beethoven version of a rock musician smashing his guitar on the stage. :)

Quartuor Ebene has made me fall in love with chamber music

Beethoven sur la forme and the Ebène sur la forme. What could be better.

This must be the epitome of Quartet playing
braaaavooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

We are SO GLAD Marie joined the gang
Yes, she has certainly improved the 'dynamic'; musically and visually!

Unglaublich! Überirdisch gut!

Such a great point!
I am in tears as the audience applauses this wonderful performance. Thank you and Bravo!

Fourth movt. Very spirited and powerful playing. Bravo.
Félicitations à la jeune altiste pour son intégration !
Marie was playing a viola, wasn't she?
@@SuperbBleu Yes, she plays viola, and took to the quartett very beautifully.
superbe, bravo, c'est absolument divin !

This is SO underrated
Extraordinario! Perfección, sonido de los cielos, Divino!!
For comparison's sake, listen to the last movement as performed (and recorded) by the Alban Berg Quartet.
Vraiment étonnant. Exceptionnel.
Phantastisch
classical wins long term. Old men from the past live for ever. your words and music could never compete.
Outstanding, amazing and so playful. I could stay listening all the time.
Allegro molto 27:42
Merci poto

Simply extraordinary performance!
Amazing
that main theme from the minuet resembles the mozart clarinet quintet k 581

I’m pretty sure it’s just the instrument not speaking properly, happens to everyone, at least it kinda works here
Maniéré !!
Solo silencio y maravillas como el maestro nos dejo
Bravo
!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ^^

Very nice🎉
What happened to the male violist?
he moved to conducting orchestral music.
merveilleux
Why to chose such an awful name for a musical ensemble!!! :(
Ys, I wondered the same thing. They are nothing like what the original Diogenes represented. Perhaps we are missing something?
