Greetings All !! So many of you have wished me Merry Christmas, I'd like to respond by wishing you the same. Thanks for the support and best wishes for a healthy and fun 2025.
Best manual machining tip I ever received. Thanks for both versions of this one. Sounds ridiculous, but I would LOVE to know how you store all the bits and bobs that go with each piece of equipment (or not). Nuts, clamps, centering tool, indicator holders, adjustable parallel, grinding vice, … where were all of these BEFORE you shot this video? Gradually dawning on me that organization (and dedicated tooling) is at least half the battle.
I actually purchased the tool while the video was playing, it's always been sold out in the past and I was finally able to get one, the video was also informative as usual!!
All the very best of the best to you and yours this 24 xmas time Joe Pie. Ever since we first met I have been a great fan of your setups and vice settings. If we are to call each other machinists every .0001 of an inch counts. Cutting those pieces is a breeze if properly set up. Getting those precious tenths as well so at the end of a day when we head home we can do so with a click of our heels and a mile wide grin. Getting to be intimatly framiliar with the machines is really important as each and everyone has their quirks. I have never seen one that was perfect. As with the relationship between DRO's and a bed needing a good scrape and polish. Well my southern friend. You praactise what you preach And the proof is right in front of us. Thanks eh. I hope you get some play time in the next couple weeks. Recreation is just a diferent type of work. Some wind in your sails and or just a nice long ride to make sure there are no spider webs stuck in there eh, LOL. So take care of you and yours and I am exited to see what 2025 has in store forus all. ONWARD !
That is a neat tool Mr. Joe. The set-up that you demonstrated is exactly what I needed to make the slave rods on a 3 cylinder radial engine that I am drawing up. Thank you.
Great video Joe! I have learned so much from you! Sometimes your videos are like having my dad around again to show me stuff. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise!
Hi Joe.I always keep an eye on this setup when I use my rotary table.I need to go to the many videos that you have about how to use the rotary table.Thank you.
Just purchased looking forward to using it in my shop at home. Really appreciate all the knowledge you are sharing with everyone, I enjoy watching your miniature builds as well. Will hopefully get to try one in the future. Thanks again
I enjoyed the video, and I learn a lot, much of it I keep in the back of my mind for when I need to use it. I especially liked how you attached the vice to the table - simple yet secure. Rotary tables are wonderful accessories for the mill, but trying to figure out how to mount parts is always a challenge. Please do a video(s) on how to mount parts on a rotary table, including handy fixtures to make/buy. - Thanks and have a Happy New Year!
Old school we are my friend !! Merry Christmas and a new year of great projects. Nice you have time for this !!! 30 years ago we were busting rump, trying to make a living lol. Enjoy it ❤
Thanks Joe, you and yours also a Merry Christmas. Thanks for sharing. Super handy . i made this tool when you put it here on You Tube. Keep up the good work ...
A merry Xmas and happy new year to you and your family. When ever I used the rotary table on the mill I had to take my time and think things out as I found it real easy to make a mistake. I made a half round tool like you have but didn't have the other dimensions. I used gauge blocks or as we called them "Slips or Slip Gauges". I guess because the would slip or stick together.
Joe, I don’t think you had the one with the 3/8” shaft available when the original video came out so I had to make my own. I find it a useful tool for lots of operations on the mill. Thanks.
I received my Rotary table alignment tool today 30 Dec 2024, it's better in quality than I thought it would be ! anyone considering purchasing one just buy it you will have no problems.
Happy next year!! tho i dont have a mill and just starting work with a lathe i enjoy learning about all the neat tricks you show!!! i just watched an interesting vid on "Hal -- heavy duty machining Australia" machining a mistake on a 3 meter drill head the flange warped when welding it on! they got a "flange facing tool " thought you and my other machinist video makers would enjoy it Quite a machine, kept busting their carbides tho and had to revert back to hss tools !!! the flange that warped was 2 1/4 in thick!!!! hope you have a fun new year
Many types of exotic stainless will only work well is cutable with HSS and Rapid tap. We can't get carbide sharp enough. Inconels are like that. It is like trying to cut a tire with a 2 x 4, LOL. The Rapid Tap breaks surface tension.
@@TomokosEnterprize dont believe it was stainless just tempered by the welding (10 passes) and interrupted cuts of O-ring grooves and warping. but good to know about the stainless ,never worked with any

Did you get a new mill for your shop? Looks different, painted white. I have one of your Alignment Pins a friend of mine gave me a few years ago. He bought two of them from you website. They do come handy at times along with the toe straps I bought from you. thanks for sharing, Ken.
Joe, I know that you do not have a Cross slide rotory turn table, but you could have done this in one setup with one! You just have to think like a programmer/nc operater. That would be simple for you.

I don't know what Joe will say, but In my experience, more tools= more tool boxes. Plus cases that certain tools come in.
merry Christmas Joe.
Thanks for all your wisdom
Thank you for leaving your text on the screen long enough to read it in it’s entirety. Love your videos!
