It’s already called Trespassing
Most variations of squatters rights require you to trespass over a long period of time (usually a full year). If someone can manage that, the property is pretty much abandoned.

You would think it would be that simple. However, the squatter's law is complex and favors the squatter over the homeowner. That's why this NEW law is needed in ALL 50 states. People are spending $THOUSANDS$ just to keep their homes.

It Was a law made by UK and USA liked the ider ..... so homeless people could use empty work whearhouses and empty homes (too sleep and wash ) but law is damage to the property always been illegal but squatter rights only works in empty property soon as they get the land you illigaly trespassing once informed it's no longer a empty property donno when USA touck the UK laws but squarter right been in UK since 1854
Squatters rights don't exist if laws are obeyed which they're not abiding by. Some need to check their gray matter if there's any left, and the rest of us need to back DeSantis, Abbott and Trump to protect US!.

The government already uses property taxes to make it so you have to pay them for the right to own anything. The Dems feel if you don't vote for their crazy ideas, that they should be able to take it from you and give it to some people who WILL vote however they want you to.

This is a no brainer. Why would squatters have any sliver of a right to your property at all?
Renters, children living with parents, parents living with their grown kids. Those all are protected under squatters rights so people don’t have a home one day and then the next they are homeless because someone felt like it. Squatters rights protect YOU from being kicked out of your home or apartment for missing a rent/mortgage payment. They protect YOU from being thrown out of a family members house because they lost their patience. They protect YOU for when your kids decide you’ve over stayed your welcome living in their house. It’s protection from losing shelter. Shelter, food, water. Those should all be basic human rights, instead here we are trying to force more people outside on the streets. Even prisoners get better treatment than those hard on their luck and yall PAY FOR THAT!!!
@@Van_Wildrpretty sure that's why there's lease, mortgage and renters agreements. They're contracts and contracts can be negotiated on terms. This law is more for the situations like when people go away on vacation for a few weeks or a month and come back to people who've broken in and refuse to leave. Those kinds of situations need laws like this because no one besides the person(s) living/renting/owning a home and approved people should have access to their home

Back then it made sense lol squatter laws have been around since 1862 and unfortunately never got updated or erased, they existed because people would go out hunting and die, someone would move into their property and 30 days later legally own it, it’s just crazy how strong those laws were up til now XD I hate squatter laws and I’m glad they’re changing.
We have something simular where I live, but it's a homesteaders law, and I like it. If you rent, and occupy the property for 15 years or more, they cannot raise the rent further nor evict for any reason beyond non payment. It's reason being, if you rented that long, you have made enough payments to pay for a large part of the mortgage thus are "semi" owners. Even if they sell the property, you still cannot be removed. I have lived places for near 12 years, and never miss a payment only to be given notice to vacate in 30 days. It sucks since it usually sits empty for months before they rent it again. One has been empty for 4 years now as they cannot find a buyer. Makes more sense to keep receiving income from it than to sit empty and rot away.

Squatters rights came about because rental owners were falsely/illegally kicking out tenants. This caused a huge issue that then made laws to protect tenants. Sad;y trash people abuse the safety net and this is what we get.

It is catch and release sadly they will just find somewhere else to squat, I think mental asylums should be opened it be mandatory for idiots like squatters to be put there if they want a place to stay for free and are not criminals there are obviously someone insane in the situation.
Ask the scam victims how they feel, showing up to a house after putting thousands of dollars down as deposit and spending everything else they have on movers assistants, only to get kicked out by a sheriff moments later.

If you ask the property owners of Florida about what concerns them most, there response will not be Squatters. What they will tell you is that Gov. Desantis has single handily collapsed Florida’s home insurance market causing prices to have ballooned to record levels. So yes, this move by Desantis is to turn attention from home owners away from the real issues. But to be fair he needs this win, Trump spanked him all the way back to Florida, so he can’t abandon his fellow Floridians as he had initially intended to.
