- The Trinity River in Fort Worth Texas holds River Monsters! I launched my kayak at sunrise in hopes of catching some giant river bass. My summer bass fishing lure of choice on the river right now is a crankbait. I tied on a Berkley Frittside 5 and started cranking down the banks. It wasn't long before I started getting bit! I eventually even tangled with some Trinity River Monsters! Hit the Like button if you enjoyed the video! Leave a comment and let me know what you would like to see in future videos! Awesome video 🙏🏻
Thank you! I’m glad that you liked it!
Wes, there is a 10ft deep hole upriver from there between the 183 bridge and low water crossing. The carryover is a little sketchy but totaly worth it
...
Look for the twin flood gates
Sounds fishy! I might check it out if I can work up the nerve!
Thanks for the info!
Nice video. I always thought flatside cranks were cold water baits. I look forward to the next one. I sure hope we get rain soon.
Man I’m praying for rain!!! I thought we were supposed to have a wet summer but it ain’t even close. My take on flat sided cranks is that they are finesse crankbaits. So anytime the fishing gets tough I like to through them! Thanks for the support Scott!
I caught a 15 lb drum right around that area last December. They will break your heart for a second because they always feel like Bass when they bite.
I knew I would eventually hook one since it happens to you so much in your videos! They put up a good fight
@@thesouthwes they always fight until they are damn near dead. They almost always go belly up first when I release them too.
The Trinity has some big drum. Before the summer started I caught a big one off a spinnerbait, completely mangled the spinnerbait but it was worth it. Like you mentioned you'll know its not a bass because sometimes it'll feel like dead weight with headshakes. There's also tons of long nose gar on the ft worth side. Luckily they'll throw the hook most the time so you don't have to deal with removing the hook. The same week I caught the drum I hooked one that threw the hook from inside its mouth and it spun around hooked it from the bottom so I had to deal with getting my hook back lol
The drum were crazy! I don’t mind a good fight. I saw a lot of the smaller gar today on the surface. None of them have hit my lures yet, but I bet it will happen.
I've been trying to figure out the Trinity too. Finally catching a few.
Great video. The river is nice in the hot summer for sure!
As always great content! I fish the Trinity (west fork mostly) at least 2 times a week. It is one of my favorite places to fish. I went out to a spot on the Clear Fork this morning and got skunked :(
Thanks for the support! Skunks are worse in the dog days of summer… makes it feel twice as hot
Awesome video and great bass!!! I'm sure you know this already, but the Trinity has MONSTER Alligator gar and catfish, which just tells you how good the fishing is lol!! Keep up the good work man, have a great day!!👊👊
Wes,
I went down to Freeport to go fish at the coast yesterday. Just got back tonight. Saw your video great thanks for mentioning me. I forgot to tell you one thing the one that I actually slay them on is the bubblegum pink Sinco‘s either the bass pro shop, or the Yum dinger But you seem to have gotten on them fine by yourself bring the Spinning Rod next time ha ha
Thank you for the tips! I bet bubblegum pink is a good color for that water clarity. I didn’t give plastics much of a chance since I was catching them on the crankbaits.
Next time you head down there holler at me I’ll show you some more spots
You still liking that pelican catch?
Hey bro do you mind telling me what spot you launched from? I’m on day 2 of getting skunked and ready to whip out the kayak on the trinity. I have the same kayak btw!
Lovely river👍
