Thanks to geometry, an analog stick with a wider throw will always have much higher granularity as long as it doesn't have dollar store sensors and drivetrain (fucking SAITEK!!!). Even with digital inputs, a D-pad doesn't have nearly the separation of inputs that an arcade stick has, though only a few specimens like the Seimitsu Nobi have decent enough tactile feedback to not squander it. If you're going to setup HOSAS like this, though, you should get proper mounting brackets for stability and ergonomics (top of desk is WAY too high not to fuck with joints, muscles and nerves all around) and I'd recommend a pair of Z connectors for a more ergonomic diagonal grip. VIRPIL's Z connectors are a bit nicer since you can change their angle, so I'll probably end up getting a pair of Constellation Alpha Primes. Something cool about VKB and VIRPIL (and even WinWing, I think?) is depending on the model you can swap parts inside the gimbal base to change how it centers or even IF it centers. Some Star Citizen players like to use a Z-connector on the left stick and make the Y axis non-returning so it acts like a throttle with added sideways action.
Yeah I played the crap out of mech games in the 90’s with a flight stick of course. Mech games were more a hobby not just a game. I’m glad to know I can play this game with a flight stick which I use for Mechwarrior 5 which was the only reason I bought another flight stick.
Glad to know this is not only possible but highly functional. I always used a flight stick for Mechwarrior games. I thought the faster pace would not work for Armored Core 6. This video proved me wrong. I’m even more excited about playing this now.
what program do you use to map? i have a Logitech Extreme 3D pro and have been trying to get around the profiler and it works for nothing, so idk how people make it so easy.
Any advice on why my vkb sticks suddenly stopped working for movement. I played through all 3 endings with the sticks and when I recently attempted to play again the movement no longer functions but all other button mapping still works.
Hay man, new HOSAS user here. I'm having MASSIVE issues setting this up in antimicrox. It doesn't want to recognize my twist axis at all, and there's no help info on this anywhere.
It's an Xinput game, so as long as you can translate that PS4 device to Xinput or get the Xbox version, it'll definitely have all the inputs you need, though using a throttle in an AC will be clunky so if possible I'd recommend a pair of Thrustmaster T.16000Ms instead.
Now add a first person mod along with VR headset, and here we go

Definitely wish for future mech games, that devs acknowledge flight sticks. In game flight stick config would be great

AntiMicroX. Just make sure (if youre using VKB sticks) to update the firmware and calibrate the sticks through VKBdevConfig.
