      After Magnus said he was playing terribly, he couldn't string moves together, and him referring to that game being his worst.

Supi could have won right away with Bxd2 as Qxd2 runs into Nxb3 winning a pawn and an exchange where as the immediate Bxc5 response from white runs into Bxc3 by Supi.

    Chess is on the verge of being solved. Opening theory is leading to well-known endings and some players are on the verge of finding forced drawing lines for Black which means they'll never lose with Black, making it almost impossible to beat them in a match. I mute replies so I won't see them.

    • @vibovitold
      @vibovitold 2 года назад

      "Chess is on the verge of being solved"
      nowhere near being solved, and probably won't ever be.
      complete solution for seven pieces positions appeared in 2012, and we still don't have tablebases for eight pieces, because every extra piece adds new orders of magnitude, and computational power doesn't grow exponentially.
      solving chess itself would amount to having tablebases for 32 pieces - there wouldn't be enough atoms (nor energy) in the universe to even store them.
      "Opening theory is leading to well-known endings and some players are on the verge of finding forced drawing lines for Black which means they'll never lose with Black"
      this belief has been around at least since the times of Capablanca, and yet games are still being won and lost.
      in the latest world championship Carlsen defended his title having 3 games to spare, since the challenger (Nepo) lost 4. clearly the reports of the death of chess are greatly exaggerated.
      "I mute replies so I won't see them."
      that's probably the best way of protecting this opinion from being refuted :)
