I had Craig as a student when he was in middle school. He was a joy to have in class because he was always well-mannered and wanted to do what was right. I know that his parents and siblings are very supportive of all that Craig does and they have given him such a loving and caring home. What excellent example they are for other families! Watching Craig make the biscuits and gravy took me back to my days in the classroom! Thank you for sharing this!

In 2017, I briefly had the opportunity to teach a 7-year-old autistic girl in my class. It was a learning experience for me. Since she moved, I always wonder how children like her will be like as they grow older. Your channel is insightful and pleasant to watch!
He is beyond sweet! I felt so bad for him when he felt guilty about being upset about his missing sock. I’m glad that he has you to give him a hug and make him feel better and also talk it out to think about what he can try to do differently if something like that happens again. Thank you for sharing my son also had a meltdown last night because his ipad went flat & he also hates when things go missing too. We hugged & breathed through the screaming until the ipad restarted. 15min meltdown this time hoping they lessen as he gets older he is 18. When he was little some meltdowns were an hour long multiple times a day 😉
Thank you for your comment. I question whether I should share the meltdowns and I only show a short clip of it. I only do so in hope of connecting to other parents and also showing others that it’s not as scary as it looks. We will have to try hugging and counting. That’s a great idea!!

My oldest son has high functioning autism. He's been my buddy for over 30 years now. Craig, I get upset when I misplace my socks too, I'm happy you found it and had a better day. If my mom had a child who cried like this over a sock, she would disown him while provoking him for fun for her narcissistic supply. it would be 95% zero interacting with the kid and then 5% laughing, insulting, and sneering at him, and then laughing when he or she started crying.

People never understand how long the meltdowns last and how it takes patience, love and understanding to get through it. Unless you have a child with Autism you will never understand. I have a shelf in my closet where I put all my socks who have been separated from their buddies. Sometimes it takes MONTHS to find the mate (if one gets lost in a fitted sheet that i don't use all year, for example). It's always nice to match them up again. (If i give up on finding the buddy sock i just turn thebone that remains into a cleaning rag.)

I’m asking because my daughter does. Like everything has a life and feelings. All of her stuffed animals even to her pet rocks are “real” with feelings and all. Buy him a laundry bag. It is a zip-up bag that you put socks in to wash so they never get lost and are always with each other. It's like netting material and it's zips up. You put the socks when they're dirty in there. That way they are together all the time except for when they're on your feet are in the drawer
Craig, I lost a sock after showering at the Gym and I had to wear a dirty one home. I was furious. We have all had meltdowns over lost socks, we understand.
When it comes to missing socks, static electricity is usually the culprit. It's their way of escaping temporarily. It's a sock vacation. I'm glad Craig found the missing sock.

Craig I have a special little box where i put lost socks and they make friends with the other lost socks in there so they are never lonely. They wait in there until they find their partners. You could even decorate the box so it looks more fun. I think I am a little autistic as I get upset about some things like this too.

Craig absolutely cannot keep a sock without its mate. It drives him crazy. We have to throw the other sock away and basically give it a funeral 😂

❤ I just wanted to let you know that I get frustrated sometimes when I can not find something so please know that you are not alone. I love this verse in the Bible 1 Peter 5:9. It reminds me that I am not the only person in the world who might be going through a difficult situation. Mom you are doing a wonderful job showing other parents how to handle a meltdown and sharing us your knowledge.

Buy him a laundry bag. It is a zip-up bag that you put socks in to wash so they never get lost and are always with each other. It's like netting material and it's zips up. You put the socks when they're dirty in there. That way they are together all the time except for when they're on your feet are in the drawer

When it comes to missing socks, static electricity is usually the culprit. It's their way of escaping temporarily. It's a sock vacation. I'm glad Craig found the missing sock.

I loved that growing up but haven’t thought of it in years! We will have to try it! I think Craig will love it!
I’m so interested in seeing Craig when he’s upset, and how the family makes him feel better. I think it would be good for everyone to see how to handle the situation to help with the people with autism in their own lives.

Craig I have a special little box where i put lost socks and they make friends with the other lost socks in there so they are never lonely. They wait in there until they find their partners. You could even decorate the box so it looks more fun. I think I am a little autistic as I get upset about some things like this too.
