As a black person with darker skin, I get ALL the tattoos I want. And color and black and gray. It is 100% possible. But I've also learned for my color work to find people who understand color theory and the different undertones to skin

The 40+ year old guy who went after the teenage girl as soon as he saw evidence that she'd turned 18 gave me such icky vibes. I don't think age gaps are _always_ a problem in relationships but 18 is still very young so a big age gap like that is much more significant.
Extremely concerning how many people have commented on how there's nothing wrong with a 40 year old hitting on an 18 year old. Or saying that she was just as much at fault?? Wtf?
18 is still very much a teenager and he knew she was naive and easy to influence and chose to approach her for that reason. Just because it's barely legal does not mean it's right. He targeted a young, impressionable person for sex and had been watching her for a while before making his move. That's predatory behavior. And yes, it would be just as bad if an older woman did that to a teenage boy fyi. It's called grooming and books/movies like 50 Shades normalize it (which, btw, is an unrealistic and harmful take on bdsm).
Y'all need to check yourselves before you end up emotionally scarring someone for life, 'cause if you don't see a problem with it, you're part of the problem.
Agree, but her reading that shit at 17 is a big red flag as well because that's not normal. She knew what she was doing.
I mean, I blame her parents/caregivers for failing to teach her that that was likely a predatory situation in the first place. It wasn’t clear exactly what her family situation was but the adults in her life failed her big time.
Just a note though, it’s not grooming to hit on someone even if the age gap is not socially acceptable. That word gets way overused and I worry it will do more harm than good. According to the story the guy had no interaction with her before he asked her out, even if he obviously had his eye on her. Grooming requires actual interactions and conversation to take place.
@@Wotansfogal 50 Shades is definitely an adult book but it’s super common for teenagers to read that kind of thing. Hardly a red flag or abnormal. The red flag would be if a teenager reads it and doesn’t know why the relationship being portrayed is toxic/abusive.
I generally prefer werewolfs to vampires but I’m team “respect-a-women’s-autonomy” all the way. Bella was never interested in Jacob that way; so team Jacob needs to back down, move on and let a couple focus on resolving their own relationship issues in peace. I HATE love triangles in media, they train people not to respect a woman’s decisions.

Yes! apart from it not being an actual triangle but more like a V, yes, people just suddenly don't care what the woman wants and treat her like she doesn't have any say in anything even though she's a grown adult most of the time
Bella did lead him on a lot in New Moon and part of eclipse… which also isn’t right for her to do because it made him think that he had a chance, if that makes sense… Though I do agree with the respecting a womens autonomy, Jacob hella pushed boundaries especially in breaking dawn part 1 and 2.
I was team Jacob but not because I thought her and Jacob should’ve been together, but because my adolescent brain thought that Jacob was a lot more attractive than Edward..

On the topic of asking artists for pictures of tattoos on darker skin tones. I am from a country where the majority of people are white and the only people of color who live here are foreign students. So its really uncommon to come across a local artist who has tattooed on people with different skin tones (unless they travel for work often). So if you don't see any examples of tattoos on dark skin tones on a tattoo artist's page, it might not be because they're not inclusive or racist. It may just be due to the country they are from.

Thank you for saying that! She almost made it sound like they are wrong for never tattooing on people of color. She's saying don't go to them if they've never tattooed on people of color and I just think how the hell are they going to get experience tattooing on darker skin if no one will go to them?! Now, if you ask if they've tattooed on people of color and they get offended then they are racist. They should say "no, I haven't tattooed people of color but I'd love to!" She wasn't wrong though. I'm white so I've never experienced discrimination (for being white) in the tattoo world so I can't say sh. I see her point but if someone has never had the opportunity to work on darker skin they shouldn't just write them off as racist. 💚🖤

Yep. I've been searching for good German new school artists and we have that exact problem here. Also my fellow people of colour seem to favour lettering and similarly older styles so finding specifically new school tattoos/anything with really bold colours on darker skin is like finding a needle in a haystack.

There are some countries where tatoos are banned, and can only be done illegally. Or some tribes in Turkey, Algeria, Syria, Myanmar, Dagestan, where tattoos are still a sacred symbol
There are so many different cultures where tatoos have completely different meanings to what we're used to.

Regarding the first story, i have a similar one myself.
Average garage party, one girl sitting in a backroom with a poledance pole, giving tattoos to people.
Me, (now) a tattooartist (that time just wanting to be tattooed and being a tattooartist) in the making, telling, BEGGING everybody to not got to her. She was kinda aggressive too, was kinda afraid of her.
Later that night, she bit a pal in neck, he started bleeding. My first action was pouring vanilla vodka over it, to at least somewhat desinfect it.
She also was blasted on coke, lol

Imagine getting married and you never show your future lover the bottom of your foot then on your wedding night they find "Randy" on the bottom of your foot. I think it would be easier to explain it's an ex lover rather than some strange woman tattooed the bottom of your foot one drunken night and you gave her free reign on what she does
Remember when it was "wear sunscreen" and "wear a helmet when skating" and now it's "please god please if you're going to tattoo yourself please wear gloves" 😭. What's happening to the world I'm so afraid lol. Why would someone inject ink into their skin with an amazon machine? It's beyond my comprehension, it terrifies me, I don't even want to use cheap waxing beads!
Even as a very light skinned poc I know I have a different skin tone and some colors work way brighter like orange and blues. I love all the advice she gave, and I like that my go to guy has great poc examples in his portfolio

I love the advice Jade 8:34 gave. She’s seems like such an authentic person.
I started getting tattooed in the 90’s, like pre internet. Everything was word of mouth, you could only see the artists work once you were in the studio. I don’t miss that at all.
Maybe you could do a series called tattoo horror stories where subscribers sent in there bad tattoo experiences and you can react to them! 😊
Something I really love about this person’s channel is how they ALWAYS use they/them pronouns on people they don’t know the pronouns. I go by they/he, and I rarely get called these pronouns. I say I’m fine with it, but honestly, I don’t think it’s that hard. I would love to thank them for being so respectful about people and their identity. Much love

As an eye care professional myself, please never get a scleral tattoo. The risk of losing your eye is guaranteed
so funny story about twilight we had an English teacher at our school that loved the series that had life-sized cut-outs of the two male leads, even though I found the actor who played edward more attractive let me tell you the cut-out was horrifying. everyone who took her class immediately became a team jacob person just so that we didn't have to see the edward cut out haha.
I don't like Twilight but if we are just talking about werewolves vs. vampires overall then I usually prefer werewolves as they are more feral looking in a lot of cases. Though there are truly ferocious vampires such as Kain from Legacy of Kain or Alucard from Hellsing, and those I definitely love as well.
Also thank you for featuring a person of colour, it's nice to see people like me getting lots of tattoos and talking about it (especially since I don't have Instagram and have to rely on Website galleries to see what artists do).
Happy holidays ❤ Ty Lauren for the advent TikTok videos 😊 I don’t have many tattoos (only 4 for now, I’m gonna get more) but last week I got tattooed and my tattoo artist asked if I wanted second skin or normal wrapping plastic thing, and I was like second skin is good 😊 and she told me about how other clients don’t like it bc it hurts to take off and I had to tell her that you taught me how to take it off properly and she was impressed bc she hadn’t heard of taking it off in the shower
No offense, but what tattoo artist doesn't know you need to take it off in the shower? Like if they have second skin at the studio and have it as an option for their clients but don't know how it works... I'd be worried about everything else too. That doesn't seem like a knowledgeable artist...

The random person with a tattoo machine at a party is literally a scenario that we were warned about in DARE.
I also get super irked by stories like that first one. Not only is the home tattoo situation dangerous but both the tattooist and people getting tatted are drunk which is disastrous.
Also re: darker skin, some artists will do free color tests to see what works with your skin tone.

Small edit: i did some questionable tattoos on myself when i had a really bad mental breakdown. I am aware that i violated every sanitary step. But a good thing is that i am aware of it now 😅
An inherited retinal disease (RP) is causing me to go blind and I honestly don't know how I feel about scleral tattoos. I agree, eyesight is so precious and you truly don't know what you've got until it's gone. But going blind is also teaching me some really important things like resilience and perseverance. It's different when your genes are causing your blindness and you have no say in the matter, I guess compared to consciously making a choice that could blind you.

And the last one with the doctor commenting about eyeball tattoos - same as you. Lauren, there's NO WAY IN HELL I would tattoo my eyeballs! First, I couldn't pull it off, I'm an old lady (with 2, 3/4 sleeves thank you, plus more...) and couldn't pull it off and second, I think it's dangerous af. There was another story of a young woman who had purple eye color done and it was SCARY!! She showed a video where the whites of her eyes were super swollen and ink was dripping out of her eyes - like a week later (!). I think she lost all of her sight, but I'm not sure...
Did you ever ball out of the studio after seeing their portfolio back then?

When someone had the audacity to tell me that I am running my body my response always was "Yes, so?" Now these people mind their own business.
There's also a blue Mickey head on the left underneath the hand where he's holding the cookie. In the shading of the background/sky.
And I don't know whether or not this one counts or not, but there are three stars to the right of Mickey's head above the end of the scarf that are pretty much in the shape of a Mickey head

They did do part of the removal of the saniderm correctly. It's not ment to be done in a downward motion but upward like you would remove a wall hang stick. When you pull downward it removes part of the surface skin
i always get a bit iffy when it comes to ppl saying avoid artist who dont have examples on darker skin.
I'm in Germany, theres not that many people with darker skin here in general, I'm also an apprentice who hasnt had the chance to tattoo a darker skintone.
If someone asked I would LOVE to try, if it turns out bad, then I might not want to tattoo someone with dark skin again for a while.. simply because I know I wouldnt do a good job (yet?). It has nothing to do with being inclusive, its about not wanting to do bad work on someone
I recently did my first script tattoo.. on a wrist. I don't want to do that again anytime soon either
It just takes a lot of research and practice. You don't stop tattooing white skin because it turned out bad right? You just have to keep trying. Ask for help from other artists in different countries that do have the skill. If you want to learn you'll find a way.

So literally just got my first tattoo so happy with it. Immediately thinking about two more tattoos I want to get. One I'm thinking of is persohones hand reaching out to demters hand. With wintery landscape and pomegranates on persphones side and summery landscape with fruit and flowers on demters side. Very much a representation of my mum and i. I was parted from her for 6 months to study in Amsterdam and although it might not seem like a long time - it didn't seem that long to me at first either. It hog to winter and I really missed home I missed talking to her. Another one is just a cute baphomet for funsies lol. Love your content

So many people say its a red flag if somebody doesnt post dark skinned canvases. And i totally get why. But i am a tattoo artist and i have only gotten requests for tattoos on darker skin like three times and all of them were very small tattoos. (Im working for about 2,5 years) I mostly post big tattoos, i dont see much point in posting the smaller ones since it doesnt take me much to do them, im not giddy to show them (only in my story highlights). I would love to do a big piece, and im planning on one, a beautiful pink lotus on a friend of mine. But since i wasnt really able to post nice work on darker skin, im scared people will think im one of those racist tattooers that say "it ruins the feed" :(
