I saw it on opening night. My friend and I worked at the mall in 1994. I remember we closed the store in record time and drove to the theater for the 9:45pm Friday night showing. Remember, this was when you could not buy tickets and pick seats. It was first come, first serve and grab the seats as your ran into the theater. I've always loved this movie.
Me too. Everyone in the theater were REAL Trekkies. Everyone howled when Data cheered, "YES!" after the b**ch sisters blew up
I watched it 10 times in the cinemas!😇
This film single handedly got me into TNG.
Great show. But hey, no "science" or "math".... Whatever. Great film.
I miss you movie trailer voice guy.
That was the great Don LaFontaine, may he rest in peace.
Underrated movie, with one of the best Trek musical themes ever.
Couldn't agree with you more. Perhaps it's nostalgia as tng my fave, but the script, story and message is grossly underrated. I especially love the final scene of the movie - one of the best of Picard'quotes: "I rather believe that time is a companion that goes with us on the journey, reminds us to cherish every moment...What we leave behind is not as important as how we've lived."
This movie sucked. Too many plot holes. The Enterprise being destroyed in the way that it was sucked. Kirk dieing the way that he did sucked. Kirk should have taken command of the Enterprise D while Picard and Riker delt with Soren on the planet. Kirk could have died on the bridge instead of under one. AND he would have died fighting Klingons. AND been responsible for taking out Lursa and Be'tor.
@@Ryoten27 I don't think the movie sucked, but they certainly under utilised Kirk.
@@Mothman156 that would have been interesting.
They did from First Contact to Nemesis make the time call using the TMP/TNG theme though
No time to read all the comments but I'm sure someone posted: starts with Kirk on the bridge, ends with a bridge on Kirk.
Lol
I was always bummed that Kirks line from the trailer "Let's try and cheat death together" was not in the final movie.
Perhaps, because…he in fact did not cheat death.
@@alexanderreneau913 at least he tried 🤷🏻♂️
It’s a good thing they don’t make trailers that spoil the whole movie anymore
Honestly, I thought this trailer spoiled plenty about the movie. Especially by showing the meeting of Kirk and Picard, the main selling point of the movie
I love how many scenes are taken out of context in this trailer.
Not the best script at all, but I think Generations is just a bit underrated. The whole film feels like a long TV episode, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Still entertaining, and gave Kirk at least a decent send-off.
Kirk's "sendoff" is awful.
I thought before the film came out that Picard and Kirk would share the Enterprise-D and Picard would have the Saucer section and Kirk the Drive Section and fight the enemy but instead Picard brings Kirk back as a bully to fight Saran since he kept beating up Picard .😛
Oh gawd. Under that bridge :( It was a terrible send off.
@@jamesrobertson432 I've never understood why people thought it was terrible. He helped save the world, again, how was that a bad thing?
He had a better send off in ST:VI imo.
Always loved Generations. No, it’s not a perfect Star Trek movie and it could have been so much more but it’s a lot better than everyone says, IMO. I thought the story was very compelling.
I always loved the cinematography. They made those sets look *good* on film.
I think it's a better movie than Final Frontier.
I remember the trailer for generations ruining key scenes of the movie for me. It's a shame but I was only 9 at the time so it was still an amazing experience.
Happy belated birthday, William. Have a good one, Legend.
Im not even born during original star trek, and too young for next generation but im still feel nostalgic watching this movie n this movie already 28 years old...
The only thing about this trailer I don’t like is how it edits Kirk’s scenes in with some of the TNG crew scenes; suggesting he’s actually on the Enterprise-D with the rest of them.
I enjoyed Generations.
Same
I seriously dont remember a lot of hate for Generations when it came out. It was a hit. Or else we wouldnt have gotten the greatest Star Trek movie, First Contact
I dont understand the sudden hate for this movie. For goodness sake, Malcolm McDowell is the villain.
I mean, come on. You cant say Generations is worse than Final Frontier. And it was followed up by what is arguably the best Star Trek movie, First Contact
Not the worst movie, but it has its issues.
Kirk's death is lame, and even Shatner came around and regretted killing him off.
Hahaha hahaha @Lukeloverose
Why did they show the Enterprise blowing up in the trailer?
In 1994, 2 Captains, 1Destiny.
The trailer that much like the TMP era had before it, spoiled the destruction of the Enterprise.
Mix of uniforms in the movie
So when are these hidden technology going to be available to the public?
Not excellent Trek, but certainly not bad Trek.
@Purist-dc4vkA bit irrelevant, but yes, i agree.
A good movie and having the two captains meet was great but it could have been a lot better. If they had to kill Kirk :( they could have come up with a much better way than under that bridge 😒
The cinematography looks great and like the bridge looking darker instead of over lit . Time is the fire in which we burn , cost them alot for that line .
You've read Schwartz I see, nice! 👌
The reason for that has to do with the difference between Television sets and movie sets. TV needs very specific lighting to work. Hence why the bridge was very VERY lit up. Movies have better lighting equipment and a bigger budget to work with so they could make things darker.
Same cinematographer as Chinatown (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
One of my favorite scenes in Generations is in the opening where the Enterprise B engages the ribbon and the original series crew don't act like premadonnas, they get right down to business.
The opening scene with the Enterprise-D was supposed to be a battle scene with the Romulans by the space station but they thought two action scenes back to back too much so as we know they changed it .
@@speedracer1945 They changed a lot of things in this movie. Scotty and Checov wernt supposed to be in it. It was supposed to be Spock and McCoy. However Deforest Kelley was failing in health, and Leonard Nemoy read the script for the film and said it sucked.
Thirty years ago this year. Oh my goodness. Am I getting old or what??
Getting gooseskin from 1:31 onwards.
I watched this movie a couple weeks and I enjoyed this film
If I'm currently watching all episodes of TNG what season or epispde should I stop at and then watch this movie?
@sam Thr film is set after the entire series of star trek the nest generation. Straight after All good things... pt 1 and 2.
If you want to do a full chronological watch through of the other shows as well then you'll need to start Deep Space Nine after "Chain of Command" parts 1 and 2
This movie could have been so much better.
He would've been fine if he had just built a taller ladder.
I have now seen the movie.
I am utterly disgust by incompetent fight duel of women s1e3... worst sequence ever... kindergarten child will better fight duel ...
@Purist-dc4vk but it's very good series nonetheless 👍 👏 I gib 9.5/10
Never understood why this movie was hated. The Nexis was whatever but it was great to see TNG on the big screen and see Picard with Kirk. If you hate this then tell me. Please tell me. Discovery. Strange New Worlds. Picard (excluding season 3). Lower Decks. Tell me how they're better.
This one is really confusing me. It starts off with some of the old crew on a meeting flight with Sulu's daughter, then goes to Picard On an old sailing vessel, Then back-and-forth and rewind- it just seems so fragmented
I hated this trailer when it came out. Gave waaaay too much away. There were several other better cut trailers.
Really bad trailer, gives away too much, like the destruction of the Enterprise-D.
In the days before the internet, I remember leaving the TV on and listening for this commercial to start only to drop whatever I was doing.
2 Captains.
1 Destiny.
STAR TREK GENERATIONS.
Wil Wheaton should have protrayed Wesley in this movie. I wonder why they did not have Wil Wheaton in this movie.
I wish they would have kept the original red alert. Much more dramatic. Just like this trailer.
Dr Soren was an average fighter, but he was a BRILLIANT SCIENTIST!!!
Even the trailer was boring. At least they gave us an awesome series finale instead of working on this turd of a film.
Best of the 'bad' Treks
Shatner is full of himself. Picard is the best captain in all Star Treks.
Thanks for posting!
Wow! I sure don't miss people narrating over movie trailers.
This movie’s basic purpose was Kirk’s death and a Kirk-Picard crossover which I thought was cool but surely that being a movie’s sole purpose was relatively dumb.
It feels like Picard season 3 gave this movie the finger in a way.
Its nearly 2024 and I just finished Star Trek TNG and just found out that there were 4 movies after that. 😮
You gave the good parts away... seriously... 🤦♂️
its complex yet im connecting
"IN A WORLD... " 🤣
or the person
I remember when the Star Trek VII: Generations (1994) Movie was released at the Movie Theaters! I saw this movie at a movie theater Inside of a Shopping Mall. This was the first Star Trek movie to feature the cast of the Star Trek: The Next Generation TV series (1987).
Generations is pretty good.
Que nada ! Mataram o melhor capitão de todos os tempos (James T Kirk!)de forma deplorável não levando em consideração o legado do cara em toda essa jornada nas estrelas. Fiquei puto!
that....was a terrible trailer
The first Star Trek movie I saw in the theatre
so good!
I hate this movie😡!
Shatner should not take this role even the producer said Kirk character will die off screen anyways. Let them do it if they wanted to at least i wont see my favorite captain a hero died in such situation !😡😡😡
Bill should follow his peers denied to take part. Spock, McCoy and Sulu are wiser in this decision.
Last i hate this StarTrek VII!
Glad the box office did not turned out well😂😂😂!
Evil story plot!
Not unusual but Shatner was in for the paycheck and wanted to see if he could compete on screen against Patrick Stewart I give Patrick Stewart thumbs up William Shatner wore out his welcome should not have even appeared I like both original cast members and next generation but William Shatner wanted just for glory one last trek like was his baby take more than one to carry movie or tv show he should have followed Leonard nimoy deforest Kelley and many original cast members and just moved on he had no intention of passing torch
William Shatner probably got impression he be brought back time to time as Kirk ( prime) like Leonard nimoy later on in reboot star trek new cast as Spock (prime) Leonard nimoy didn't take his character for granted or act like he created it
Yeah I agree to an extent that Kirk's death was poor, but as a whole, I don't think it's that bad. There are certainly other trek movies that are worse. For example, Nemesis, Insurrection, The Final Frontier. The villain in this movie was kinda cool, and the premise was kinda cool too.
I believe Shatner Wrote a book called “Star Trek: The Return” where he comes back to life, I have it
I didnt enjoy Kirks death in this film but read the novel and in that Soran shot him in the back then Picard killed him. They almost went with that changed it to this lamer ending.
Best star trek by a mile

It's a good movie and I liked it. But it's just not as good as the other Next Generation movies IMO.

This trailer is complete false advertisement to the point it barely has anything to do with the film.
Did you want it to show you the whole plot ?
I came here after watching The Big Bang Theory Is there anyone else who is just like me ?
Great movie, terrible trailer
Great trailer, terrible movie.
Nice trailer. Too bad the movie wasn't as good.
@Purist-dc4vk I actually don't hate this movie, I just didn't think it was as good as the trailer. However, I do think it's the weakest movie out of the first 11. Insurrection is actually my favorite of the TNG movies, think it's highly underrated. And although I don't think Nemesis is as good as Insurrection, I also think Nemesis is underrated.
i watch first the reboot with chris pine. im impress. then try to see this next generation sequel but sadly i feel bored of too much chit chat. and outdated technology. understandable because its 90s movie. maybe i will stick to star trek with chris pine trilogy & forget that theres a previous sequel of this.
The Abramsverse is an abomination.
The only good thing about those films is the CGI . Pine is okay but they write him as a snotty nose Kirk . Just like Berman didnt now squat at STOS and killed Kirk terribly. If they were to destroy the Enterprise D it should had been in space battle and have Kirk die that way .
So amazing... I was born in 1983 this was childhood. It was great
