Oh, cool! I've never heard of this game. I went onto the creator's site, and it turns out that they also made Offspring Fling! The more you know. I'm definitely gonna look through their catalogue now.
It's been years since I last played Bonesaw. I remember back in high school I saw a friend playing it on his laptop and he gave me the files for it so I could check it out.
I remember having a lot of fun with it but I never could get past the second area. Can't believe I actually forgot about the game itself until I saw this video pop up in my notifications, thanks for reminding me about it!

Remember this game fondly as well as the music! Great summary and description of it. Don't have any recollection of that final boss fight...
Are those bomb blocks just stolen from the Kirby games? They look so similar to those bomb blocks and do the same thing as the ones from Kirby.
Sounds effects and gimmicks from other titles were used in the game for sure.
Since I don't really show it much, sounds from Mega Man are very common.
Strange that I searched Bonesaw since I forgot what this game looked like, and this video was uploaded 2 hours ago! What a coincidence
Bonesaw was never all that popular even in the late 2000s when it had first came out. Most of the people who know anything about it probably found out because UltraJMan did a Let's Play of it, although he dropped off of the Internet radar due to some shenanigans (i.e. the "Schildkrote Foundation"). I was a big fan of the game though.
The bonus boss "Wick" was put in as a sort of in-joke by the developer Kyle Pulver. Apparently it was "common knowledge" among members of his college that Professor Wick was secretly an android, which is why the boss is a large shapeshifting robot. The referee and the Dark Knight are similarly based on the legends of real-world people Kyle knew in college.
The game itself has aged pretty well for a platformer-beat-em-up programmed by a single guy working out of his college dorm room, though. I haven't played it in a while, but I'm always on the lookout for new people discovering the game. Maybe one day somebody talented will put up a speedrun of it or something!
The fact that not a single speedrun with video proof of this game existed other than just video gameplays of it and not even a speedrun page just for it makes me think that this game is underrated.
Hi DarthMohawk1, I hope you're well! I'm trying to record this game using Game Bar and everything works fine, except that the storyline text boxes aren't capturing for whatever reason! I've already tried changing my screen resolution, as well as all of the game's settings, however nothing appears to be resolving the issue - would you have any idea of a potential fix at all please? I'm using the latest version of Windows. :)
@@JRP90 Hello friend! The issue with the text not appearing is probably because the game draws the text using a separate window, which you might not be capturing with your current settings. Try starting a new game while recording, (copy your Save and Data files first so you don't lose your progress!), and then when the first text box appears, see if you can find the window that matches it and add it your capture settings. @@JRP90 probably "the latest version of windows". I'd be a crazy person and attempt running an older version of windows in a virtual machine or something... There may be a better way but I don't know it. Try reaching out to Kyle Pulver ? Good luck!

I remember watching a guy called UltraJMan playing this game ages ago.
I don’t remember much of it other than copious amounts of "BONESAW IS READY!!!", though that final level looks familiar, so I guess he must’ve completed the game.
Unfortunately, I can’t watch that Let’s Play anymore because that channel was terminated.

Well that's very odd. I wonder why they refused? Super Meat Boy has tons of different characters from all sorts of indie games or game series that began as Flash games like super meat boy did. That's one of the best parts of the game, the fact that each character you can play as has different abilities because they're from different games, like some will have double jump, some can float in the air, some can stick to walls etc. So it's a shame we didn't have this character in the game too
I never actually played this game, but I heard about it through UltraJMan (may his channel live on in our hearts and memories).
