      @@Tactyks Is it though? The additional talents look great and like they will be fun, but compared to DF BDK, it feels like this rework hasn't really done anything other than make BDK good at what it was already good at while leaving it vulnerable in the places it was already vulnerable. BDK is going to laugh at casters as it self heals through casts, but it already does that. BDK is great in raid because of that, but M+ they are vulnerable to dangerous melee swings. They really haven't gotten much to deal with that and M+ is getting stronger in that respect (at least on 2/4 weeks). This feels like BDK staying about right where it is as far as viability, while still having no raid buff and being a tough tank to take higher in M+.
      So fun, but basically no change from where they are now.

      @zacharyiler136 yeah this might be the first time I don't play bdk since Legion. I picked it up because I liked the resource management minigame, and then with SL and now again with TWW we get stuck just absolutely hammering heart strike and ignoring overcap. All this on top of just being not very good in high keys due to getting one tapped by dangerous melee and not very good in raid because of bone shield consumption issues. I think I might main BRM for tww

    • @zacharyiler136
      @zacharyiler136 13 дней назад

      @@jackbaker6372 BrM looks very good for raids, however I think it will still suffer heavily from the same "lack of control and a caster meta" that BrM has had for a long time in M+.
      Unless something major changes, I'd bet on VDH and Prot Pally, maybe leaning to Prot Pally. VDH lost a ton of its control with the recent sigil change, but it still has more than most other tanks even with just 1 sigil of each. It won't be nearly as dominant, and Prot Pally interrupts are going to be very, very helpful. Combine that with Lightsmith being able to protect squishy dps and I think pally is sliding under the radar.
      Bear might be ok, but alot of that depends on how good Resto and Balance end up and if they ever actually do anything with bear.

      If you are playing Deathbringer and with the current talent tree you are getting 6% more armor, 5% physical DR every 30 sec for 10 sec (or more often if proccs), around 7% phys DR from the choice node (giving haste actual defensive value, to the breakpoint where you are not loosing the buff) and you get more access to lichborn and icebound. If you are still struggling to live, you are doing it wrong. Not to mention giving massgrip and slappy hands a 6% DR attached to it. You get absurd healing from Bloodplague and in result Umbellicus eternus (which is a crime not to take with Deathbringer). And you have 19% magic Dr at all times with makes your deathstrikes being less taxed from Magic as well.

    Was looking forward to your overview, confirmed my bias and decision to main blood into TWW.
    I do have to say though that I think the Gorefiend's silence might well be worth it considering the recent blue post where Blizz said that they plan on pulling back on putting the mob spells on cd whenever they are stopped during a cast, instead many spells will just be spam cast.

    • @Tactyks
      @Tactyks  15 дней назад +2

    hiya, Blood Feast I found 1 niche situation that helped in all of last expansion in pve, in pvp it can also be useful against some comps... the 1 time I found a use for it is a group wanted me to do the bombs on Zskarn on mythic and since nothing to hit I would run through all the bombs or 2 then find a fire trap that was active and use the fire to heal me from the bomb dot. but also AMS gave RP so I could take the last bomb and go to the boss with full RP and death strike to live without the healers having to focus me the AMS RP is now gone so that may not even be as viable in that 1 niche scenario.

    Hey, fantastic video, I was thinking of trying tanking out for the first time as I very much prefer melee dps, San BDK gives me a dps feel but for tanks, would you recommend this as a first tank for beginners looking to branch out a little? it looks like a lot of fun!

    • @Tactyks
      @Tactyks  10 дней назад

      My biggest recommendation for new tank players is to pick the thing that they are most interested in, as that gives you the best chance of actually enjoying tanking. In terms of difficulty I don't think any tank spec is insanely complex, and the overall throughput balance of tanks is usually pretty close, so if you think Sanlayn BDK looks fun I'd say go for it!

  • @Shadowrin
    @Shadowrin 14 дней назад +2

    The current BDK class and spec tree is a vast improvement over DF, however there's still some ways to go imo.
    1. Ossified Vitriol - Pressing Marrowrend doesn't feel good, and that's partially due to how inefficient it is for dmg and mitigation. With the Deathbringer synergy and Bonestorm + Tombstone providing strong access to Bone Charge loss, perhaps this could feel good, but I dislike it's placement in the spec tree. Rapid Decomposition is what I feel most people want on this side of the tree due to its many synergies, yet accessing it feels like you need to take two talents that are really whatever buffs. Decomp should move up into Vitriol's position.
    2. Bonestorm - Tuning is still on its way, but even putting aside the meh dmg, it's disappointing that it doesn't interact with DRW cdr. I understand that they probably don't want it to be 100% correct choice given the increase to DRW uptime it would bring. Yet, there's not a lot of reasons to take it otherwise. Especially for raid tanking, Blood lacks access to Shattering Bone procs when offtanking, so Bonestorm would be nice to take. But with meh dmg, the numbers ought to change, or perhaps it could bring up that DRW uptime a bit :)
    3. Heartrend leading into Purgatory. Much like Leeching Strike and Blood Feast, not sure why it exists. For sitting in the capstone section, that talent is underwhelming. It just seems like a tax for taking a cheat death. You could make a talent like after taking x% of your health you briefly get increased runic power/rune gen/haste/mast buff. This would play into 'so you're approaching death' aspect of this capstone.

    • @Tactyks
      @Tactyks  14 дней назад

      Some great points here, didn't talk about Ossified much in the video, but it is definitely frustrating that you HAVE to path through it to progress down that path, especially for Sanlayn which feels really point locked in the middle talent section.

    • @kalasmournrex1470
      @kalasmournrex1470 14 дней назад

      Rapid Decomp is overrated, imo. Not worth having to take one of the two worthless proc talents. Well, ok, it’s probably good enough if playing deathbringer, so I should caveat I prefer San’layn.

    • @kalasmournrex1470
      @kalasmournrex1470 14 дней назад

      Leeching strikes actually looks pretty good for San’layn in M+. It works with vampiric strike which makes it much easier to just spam vampiric strike during vamp blood. Need to consider what I’m giving up to get it, though. Blood shot is way down in value in tww since I’m doing 80% shadow or shadowfrost damage depending on hero tree, so I’m not concerned with it.

    • @Shadowrin
      @Shadowrin 14 дней назад

      @@kalasmournrex1470I agree it will suck for Deathbringer for sure, but at least there will be San'layn. Though it similarly suffers from having to sink a lot of points aka Improved Vamp Blood + Heart Strike. I doubt that will change, hence my hope for Rapid Decomp to move at least.

    • @Shadowrin
      @Shadowrin 14 дней назад

      @@kalasmournrex1470 That's an interesting point, potentially Vamp Strike becomes a decent heal in aoe. We'd have to see how it plays out in keys. And yeah, San'layn def looks like it could be dropping Blood Shot, which is weird considering the staple it's been, but hey, I love some spec tree options over the DF rigidity.

    So about the San'layn Heart (Vampiric) Strike spam during Vampiric Blood:
    Since VB has so little downtime with that build, maybe you're meant to use all your runes during VB and then dump all runic power when outside VB (kinda like Frost DK during Pillar of Frost)
    Also, I think you could remove Read Thirst and Bonestorm/Bloodied Blade and take Consumption + Carnage, and use it when outside VB to help you rebuild you Blood Shield along with Death Strike spam
    I think I like this kind of playstyle for san'layn, but I can see it being problematic when we get more haste later in the expansion
    As for Deathbringer, I think it doesn't add anything to your playstyle at all (besides having one more button to press), which isn't necessarily bad, so it's decent, but I think it's throughput in m+ can be a lot higher than San'layn due to the Blood Boil/Plague dealing so much damage
    Which talent tree did you find safer to play? And which dealt more damage? (I think I'll play San'layn anyway because of the Blood Beast tho :P)

    • @Tactyks
      @Tactyks  15 дней назад +2

      The thing with Sanlayn is you already have a TON of haste built into the hero tree, easily up over 50% during your vamp blood windows which is wild. Could definitely see the build/dump playstyle but it still just feels weird because you're doing more than just building, you're severely overcapping your resources in a lot of situations. Also because of how big a benefit being in vamp blood is for damage I think Red Thirst will be a mandatory talent for Sanlayn but we'll have to see.
      If I had to guess at this moment I'd say Sanlayn for raid (where you can take advantage of a higher damage bonus of the tierset and are much safer to spam Vampiric Strike since you aren't always actively tanking), and then Deathbring for M+ (More flexibile talents, lots of passive DoT damage that is great no matter the target count), but I wouldn't be surprised to see either played at a high level in both forms of content because they each have their strengths.

      While raid buffs have dominated the DPS slots, if you look at the top tank each season they've just been the tank with the strongest tuning (Ppal S1, Guardian S2, VDH S3/S4). Now of course raid buffs give a lot of value, but taking something like S2 as an easy example, if Guardian just couldn't live doing crazy pulls like that but some other spec could, you'd want to play that other spec since it enables you to do more. If BDK is just the best tuned tank and can live crazy pulls in TWW, raid buff or not I'd be surprised if it wasn't meta.
