Hi Jason, I hope you are having a very Merry Christmas. This is a beautiful model. Chris did an amazing job designing this. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day. Jeff
Merry Christmas Jason! Wishing you and your family all the best for the year ahead. Thanks for all the effort you put in for our benefit - much appreciated.
Merry Christmas Jason, hope you have a good one. This kit looks stunning, I love the stuff coming from Vanguard. Excellent review, very comprehensive, thank you.
I agree - and Merry Christmas! :) One thing about the 22 foot cutter, I decided to include this at a very late stage, so it was 'tacked on' at the very end of the development stage. This is because I was having these new boats designed for me, and was not sure if they all would be done in time for me check the files and produce them. There are full building instructions for this 22 foot cutter on one of the plan sheets, so it is not missing from the kit. Regarding the etching for the plank lines and treenails, I do know that many contemporary Admiralty models (some of the best in the world) have their planking lines on the hull and decks scribed on, rather than individual plans. The laser etching is just an extension of this practice. I figured if it was good enough for these fine models in the 1700's, then it's certainly good enough for me!
Incredibly thorough review. Chris Watton at Vanguard makes assembly so much less error prone than any other kit manufacturer. I wish he made models for 17th century vessels. Perhaps such vessels are out of his area of knowledge. They certainly have less information regarding the dimension and design, and perhaps that is why he concentrates on 18th and 19th century vessels. Far less guesswork.
@@christopherwatton1257 Do you have any interest in making models of even older vessels, something as old as Vasa? Your kits are simply the best I've seen for later time periods, Chris.
@@DARIVSARCHITECTVS Thank you! My main love is 18th Century vessels, but I do like earlier types. I am hoping to have the 17th Century warship ready in two years (carvings take a long time and costs are great for such a commission) - but preliminary designs have already been started. I think Vasa is already well catered for, as is Sovereign of the Seas, so would not ever design those.
Another wonderful ship kit to add to the wish list. Thanks for the excellent review.

Looks fantastic
I’m not a ship builder but I find these wooden ships fascinating
Great review. Glad to see it is quite a step up in complexity from the Sherbourne I am currently working on. Merry Christmas Jason.

Doing such excellent reviews, personally I wouldn't think it would hurt if they let you keep it, mate.

I do have a Restoration warship (1681) in mind for a future development. :)

Chris needs to correct the Union Flag illustration!
