Great stuff, Jason, lots of useful info. I myself use White Tack for masking etc as it does not leave the oily rsidue associated with the Blue.
Hi Jason, a very good tutorial I really enjoyed it. Enjoying the series I am hoping you will be covering lacquer interactions with enamel and vice versa you so graciously helped me with. I got home Friday after 9 days in St Thomas hospital London after my open heart surgery so can't do a lot at the moment but looking forward to your next video to keep me sane. All the best Jason. Chris 👍
Once again a very thorough tutorial, many thanks!
Really should get on with using mine
I'm so glad I saw this I have the same miniart. It's still unbuilt I've had it and others for years. Now I'm into Finishing one or two and this one is in the running. By the way very good job with the diorama. Except for the fence that sucks.
Hi Jason, Nice set of Figures, Shame about the short shot and flash. That's definately Not the Black Watch tartan (I should know my own clans Tartan as it is a variation of the Campbell Clan) and looks made up for this kit with it appearing that Geko research has let them down.
I got a bit of an orange peel after spraying and was wondering if it's tough enough to sand?
Great tutorials Jason. I have been airbrushing for many years but only now I'm switching from enamels to acrylics and I need my brain reset. This is helping me a lot. Thanks!
Why is the pilot on the box art a 12 year old from the USAF ? The Lancaster cockpit is not THAT big lol. Big shame about the clear parts
I guess you've been Warned... :-)
Brillante! Gracias
I have found out that white primer is a great base for a white gloss , by simply using clear gloss after. I have tried many of the gloss White's and this seems to work the best and saves you some money.
It seems that it's worth buying the kit just for the instructions - good review as usual.
What a very informative and helpful video, notes taken & looking forward to giving it a try, thanks, Nick
Love it😊
So much work on the interior, and looking at mine at least, virtually nothing of it is actually visible.
I'm ecstatic that figure manufacturers are getting around to some of the 'other' combatants in WW2. There is an embarrassment of German WW2, some Americans, a few Soviet., almost no Japanese (that are not in some ridiculous Banzai charge). Sure- market forces are important, but to paraphrase- build them and they will come.
If You Google: scottish soldiers Piper Normandy You will find a photo which is probably the inspiration source of the modelkit 👍🏻
surely the tartan used depends on cap badge used
Good point
The Mogami class cruisers (and all other Japanese first class cruisers) had a 72-110mm wide space between the turret and outer heat shield plate (the photo etch turret part). So as you said there would be a small gap but it would actually be realistic, the kit lacks this small gap from what I can tell. They added this heat shield plate around the turrets so the sun wouldn't directly be heating the turrets in tropical conditions.
interesting
I did notice that between your 1st and 2nd goes at priming you did not clean your pallet, I would have thought that even if the thinner did not loosen the old paint you would have still transferred old lumps of paint to your air brush?
thats a good observation. generally thats only a risk if you did not thin the paint well. you can have several clean pallets to hand if you think its a risk.
Hi Jason, Interesting set of figures. I really like the subject, but the huge sprue connecting points are going to be a lot of work to fix. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day. Jeff
Hi Jason, I have done the Gecko Models British Infantry In Combat Circa 2010 - 2016 Set 1. I'm not a experienced figure modeler but I thought the set was pretty good. Got them to use with a Scimitar in a small diorama......which reminds me I must get around to finishing it!
Gecko do have good packaging, I have a few of their other kits, but they tend to be in the realms of ICM and MiniArt, eg why have 3 parts to build an engine when you can have 10. The Flash is unusual for Gekco, although some parts do have heavy seams especially the smaller parts on thier other kits.
Looks cool. 🪖
Hi Jason, I just wanted to let you know that I received the mask you recommended. What a great company and solid fit. Thank you for once again helping me out!👍🏾
Due to family circumstances I couldn't join on Friday. I like where the painting is going.
Thanks George
Endeavour really looks smart
Enjoyed very much.
Nice job Jason!really looks good!!
Hi Jason, You are making some great progress on the Endeavour. The skylights look amazing. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day. Jeff
So cool 👍
Really cool. ⛵
Looks like an FPV plane build. Looks great! 😎👍
Hi Jason, Thanks for the tips today, they all make sense. I stopped using primer. I will try it out again, now that I have better information.
Very good hints, thank you......I always put paint through a filter first. I use a shot glass and take the paint with a pipette. Yes, adding to mush paint in the airbrush cup is not a good idea, and very thin coats have improved my paint jobs, and after getting hints from Paul at UMP and yours helped
Have you ever used Tamiya fine spray primer, either straight from the can or decanted and thinned? Very interesting series, btw.
Yes I dislike it and it’s highly expensive
Jason what about 1/350th scale or larger ships especially painting the hull? You indicated to start and stop off the model. Some hulls are 18 inches or longer please give me your advice on something like that. I really like to listen to the information you are passing on thank you and I would like to pass on best wishes to you and your family as well and please keep sending any information that can be a help with modeling and I am also trying to listen to your wooden sailing ship information because I'm thinking of trying my hand with trying to build a wooden sailing ship in the near future. Truly want to thank you very much.
Depends on the ship and the effect you want. If your weathering you prime I like to prime in circles to get an uneven finish. If you are doing museum even finish then broad straight lines as I showed
Although aimed at beginners I have found this series a great refresher course as I have not airbrushed paint for over a year. Tip, Stynylrez is cheaper than the rebranded products when purchased from UK Badger importer Barwell UK airbrush supplies.
I quite agree, we should always be learning, even with regard to basic stuff. 👍
Thanks for the tip
Hi Jason, This is a great beginners series. Lots of very useful info for people new to airbrushing. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day. Jeff
Thanks Jeff as always your comments are greatly appreciated have a great week
Hi Jason. I can envision airbrush sales increasing by the end of your series. Thank you for doing this. It is without question very valuable to those who are thinking of perhaps getting into using an airbrush for the first time. 👍
Thank you Ron, just my take on it but I hope more people take up the air brush
Very useful Jason, thanks for putting this series together.
Very useful, I have learnt a lot. Many thanks!
Jason, I don't know what the criteria is to be a member of The Warning Army, but I think you more than qualify. I can't thank you enough for including your video from their concert in this Table Talk. I'd never heard of them before, but they are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and I can't get enough of them. I bought all of their albums, joined their Patreon, and am going to see them in Pittsburgh, PA ( 2,600 miles away ) in September and at a festival in California in October. I'm really looking forward to it. You just can't believe how few people in the US have heard of them. I look forward to your next rock band suggestion (as well as the next Table Talk :). Thanks, again, Ed
Hi Ed, glad your enjoying the Warning I agree they are definetly a very talented band, they were awesome live, it will be worth the journey Jase
Nice to see you building the Matchbox Set with the Char B1 and Renault Ft-17. A kind of a cult set. The diorama base and the tanks looks well. Very good paintjob with the camouflage pattern, Jason. Will be great, to see the result in the end. All the best and a nice weekend. Greetings, Joachim
thank you Joachim, just a bit of weathering left
Built a 1/72 back in 83.👍
Enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend with your family Jason
yep al good will explain all in the next table talk in a couple of weeks
You OK, Jason? You were chatting away on the Premier stream last night?
