  • "How long did it TAKE you to put all that on?"
"idk, about 6 minutes? Natural Form era is really pretty friendly."

Just a quick dressing video! :) All the items from the skin out are:
    Chemise, stockings, shoes
    Corset
    Petticoat
    Skirt
    Bodice
    Hat and mitts
I sewed all of these except for the shoes and stockings. Stockings are from American Duchess, and shoes are antique (1910-20s though, shhhh)
Music is "Walk Towards Silence" by Kasper Schill. Available by the grace of Epidemicsound.com.

This's brilliant! I'm having a presentation on Victorian Fashion and I think I'm going to share your video with my professor and classmates. Well done!

What a beautiful dress. The natural form era will always be my favorite of the 19th century. Great work!

I really liked the work you did when recreating this costume, it is an almost perfect replica of a painting by James Tissot (Return from Henley).
I would like to know how the dress and petticoat pattern was adiquered to also produce something similar to these pieces.

Claudia Laranjeira thank you! Yes, that was the goal. ❤️ the petticoat is the one from Truly Victorian. The skirt pattern base I drafted from Frances Grimbles book “fashions of the gilded era”, and the overskirt swags I draped myself.

If they could have seen into the future. When I'm at home along, *all* I wear is a loose fitted dress. I think I'd smother trying to wear all those restrictive clothes, especially in the summer.

The chemise!!! Is there a pattern you based this on or did you make the pattern yourself?

I scaled the pattern up from “the national garment cutter”, a Victorian book available for free on archive.org. :)
