I love when you smile at the camera because I know you are smiling at your darling husband and the light of affection shows in your smile every time. Bravo!
This shade of blue with brown is my favorite color combo. The whole look is so beautiful and well made. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
A crow's eye video and a priorattire video in the same day?? It must be Christmas or something!
I know right?!
Oooo, to Crow's Eye next!
Yes to biodegradeable faux fur! Thank you for the video. I learn so much more seeing the clothes on a 3d figure in movement.
Thank you for all you do to teach us about history. I appreciate all of your hard work, and love your videos. 💙
The silk worked onto a fabric backing for fur is absolutely genius! I wonder where I could find something similar.
Life’s too short to not go rollerblading in a full Victorian gown complete with train
To be honest, I would be scared to skate in a skirt with a long train, but I believe that the long trains were able to be scooped up and clipped on the dress. I think you have mentioned it in one of your previous Natural Form era videos.
Anyways, a great video as always. Natural Form era gowns remind me of Bathsheba Everdeen and Tess of D'Urbevilles.
What fun! I’m sure the fashion plates were drawn by men who only had their ideal of “cute activities” that women would do in their gowns. I’m betting that if Victorian ladies would have had access to your roller blades, they’d have had much more fun.
Very nice dress. I'm always amazed what a beautiful figure a corset makes. The inline skates where a funny twist. Thank you for sharing!
Every new video you make I go Nooo THIS Is My Fave Dress! But this polonaise combo is really quite stunning. My fave accessory is that first cravat you had but they all looked lovely. And that winter outfit! Ugh to die for!
Thank you. I have read about polonaises before but now I finally understand what one is. Laura Ingalls Wilder and her sister wear dresses something like this in "Little Town on the Prairie" and in "These Happy Golden Years."
This is very different. I like that you have attire how atheltic people dressed too. Thank you ❤
Those original boots reminded me of when I visited my Grandma’s attic as a young girl and her adoptive parents clothes from late 1800’s was still there.
Fascinating as it was I wonder what happened to them all🤔
Let's go skating!
I bought both volumes 1 and 2 for myself for mother's day, can't wait to get the accessories book!!!
Love the new horizontal format. This outfit is so beautiful!
The idea of skating with a trained skirt is absolute madness! I do love it though.
Exquisite! love the shots of you skating, the dress moves beautifully!
What a mass of different looks! And those first skates you put on were just like the ones I learned on in the 1960s 🙂
What a beautiful outfit! Such a costume made for me would need more padding, since I'd spend all my time falling all over the rink. LOL
This is one of my favorite outfits I’ve seen you make. Mostly because as much as I ADORE the really really beautiful ones, this one actually seems attainable. I’ve got your book on my wishlist (I’m moving right now) and now I’ve got my inspiration garment to help fuel my attempt at historical dressmaking.
Thank you!!
I learned to roller skate on a pair of all metal skates that clamped on to my shoes. I nearly killed myself when I changed to “modern” 1980’s skates. It’s a completely different way of skating!
Now those things were awful, especially as children, because they never really fit well to the boots (because those arent "uniform" in the shape of their soles for example) and far too rigid in the right-left tilting. I hate skating probably because of those things (but mostly because of the "landing" when you inevitably fall down).
@@Muck006 hello. I also had those all metal, clamp on sidewalk skates. I do not remember having any trouble with them. I did however have trouble with ice skates. And it took some adjustments and time to become used to roller rink skates. Life as a young child was a lot of fun.
I adore the winter outfit! I really want one!
I love the idea of mismatching the buttons of the skirt, such an interesting effect! I love the garters as well but, are you sure they are knitted? I recall seeing that exact same pattern on an antique book, those were crocheted. Anyway, amazing as always 😊
Great video as always. The oops made me laugh
Thank you for your wonderful work. I am experiencing a real aesthetic pleasure. The outfits are lovely and you are lovely. :)
You're sooo charming. Thank you very much for sharing your talent with Us.
Now I know why ladies always had a maid. Getting dressed in all those layers is a job. BUT the end result silhouette is stunning.
At the beginning of your video I said "Oh my gosh, Lillie Langtry". It's really a pretty skating outfit but I'm not sure about that train. One small catch in those skates and you have huge problems. Thank you for another great video.
Absolutely lovely. I've learned so much from you.
When you switch to modern inline skates
As always just stunning dress Izabella :o I always enjoy watching your videos because they are well-made and interesting !!
So lovely! And I absolutely **love** the colour combination!
Beautiful video! I love your Corset cover, and combinations. I know you have quite a collection. May I suggest a video on them. I would love to see more of them.
Thank you,
Absolutely beautiful, functional and flattering, girl you are a star.
Missed your videos. I’m an actress and have an interest in period clothing, so I find them very educational!
Don’t know how I missed this when it was posted, but love the video!
Okay, even though I know they did, it is still a crazy thing to watch. 1880s roller skating! WOW!
I loved that you are actually wearing split drawers!
Wow! That hat pin looked like a concealed weapon. Your hairstyle in this video really framed your face nicely.
love those colors together
Love this outfit! Btw I think you could set an new record in the historical speed run from @karolinaZebrowska you are a pro in getting dressed in historical clothing. 💪🏻(if I may say so 😳)
We filmed a timed getting dressed video a few years back- it is somewhere in my account. Two different styles and Took 6-10 minutes at a leisurely pace
Ah, it's good to know I don't need to get one of those Tony Hawk Skating Corsets (probably not actually a thing)! ;)
Seriously though, I'm especially intrigued that this is Natural-Form Era; not only skating with a train, but with the *skirt tied back* as well! Thank you very much for this video, and for reminding me that it's just about time to put on my own night corset!
oh i LOVE the winter outfit
What a beautiful ensemble! I never dreamed they rollerskated! You did so well.
That’s amazing, thank you! I now have an overwhelming urge to get silk fur, it looks amazing
I love all things Victorian
Love it!
Splendid! Everything on this video
Awesome as always!
Gorgeous!!
Gorgeous!
So very lovely !!!!
Oh , I thought she might be on ice. I know she can do that too. If she can ride side saddle and jump fences then I believe she can do just about anything
Love this🥰❤️
Is there no end to your talents, dressmaker, patternmaker, historian, sidesaddle rider (the one I'm most envious of) and roller/inline skater. I guess you can ice skate as well. Thanks for another great video.
Those are beautiful colors on you🎭💙🤎
Another wonderful video. Thank you so much for all you share.
Beautiful clothing, love your videos
Love the garters!
I love that dress!!!
Lovely as ever!
I’m so very happy I live on the 21st century, (even dressing for church isn’t a big deal) I literally get up in the mornings and out on a t-shirt and a pair of shorts/jeans/sweats (depending on time of year)
I love natural form era dress and that blue is my favourite colour! Beautiful!
So beautiful
Also another of my favorites in the 2nd book... I think when the next book comes out I'll still be making stuff from this one 😂
Oh, my God! 😀 It"s so nicely!
Beautiful lovely
Thanks for posting.
Very pretty!
Impressive skills!
Thank you for all of this information- will help me with my era sewing projects! Very helpful: the inset photo of a close up of how the garters and jackets, etc. look. I coached youth ice hockey: for safety always wear knee and elbow pads, helmet! They would have too had they known what we know today about sports injuries.
Love!
thanks this was great
Very pretty
The roller blades (inline skates) look like they worked pretty good considering their age.
Nice!
Cool Video 🤩😍
I need your vol 1. Hopefully, I can get it soon.
Back in stock from the 8th September!
очень здорово!
Good afternoon, thank you for your RUclips Chanel.
I didn't know that they already did rollerskating in the VICTORIAN ERA! But it must be unpractical to skate with such a long dress......
It was fine. Qed
❤
Those split drawers are a worry! I doubt I would want those. Love the boots. I wish there was more on how to do hair. I have long hair and endless trouble with it.
I mean. I’d rather deal with split drawers than having to undress fully to go pee.
Yay! Plastic faux fur bashing!
Why have I never heard of silk faux fur before, that's brilliant. Love the outfits, we would have to ditch central heating to bring these lovely clothes back into popular fashion.
I know u probably won’t see this but I thought hey you never know 😄 I would love to get into this type of Garment construction but I am worried on where to start. I have been sewing off and on since I was 5 years old and I know a thing or too but not enough to creat the art that you do. So I guess my question is….Do you know of a good place to start or any good books to read to aid in my education?
Thank you so much for showing me that there is a whole community out there that enjoys this as much as I do:)) pleas keep doing what you are doing 😊😊
we have 2 books on Victorian dressmaking available on our website... book 1 especially suitable for beginners... www.priorattire.co.uk/ourshop/cat_1462049-The-Victorian-Dressmaker-books.html
💫❤
I was wondering how well those old-style skates would work!
Beautiful as always!
Is the jacket pattern in any of your books? (The too hot one)
Also I am curious if there’s much, if any, difference in fashion for people who had disabilities? (Crutches or walking sticks etc)
I often wonder about that and wheelchairs (invalid carriage/bath chair).
Я вам обожаю))👏👏🌷🌻🌺
How very Tess of the d’Urbervilles.
I imagine a great many women fouled their skirts in their skates, fell and tore their dresses. Can you imagine? I've seen some women start to fall and inadvertently do the splits when they landed. That would tear this fitted dress to pieces. I imagine those women never skated again.
If a woman(or a man) accidentally does the split, she will be seriously injured. And she will no longer care what happened to the dress.
In addition, it is possible to fall and get injured in our time. But it would be strange to think only about the dangers and out of fear of giving up interesting activities.
@@Olga_Ovechkina - depends on how in shape the men and women are. They may suffer a bad sprain to the thigh due to an accidental split or just may be sore. And a lotta people give up interesting activities after a fall. My sister and mother both gave up skating after some bad falls (and they weren't even seriously injured - just body and pride bruised).
@@benjalucian1515 I think in the 19th century only rare women were able to do the split. That's why I write that it would have ended in trauma for them.
But not every fall is serious, and ice skating has been a popular pastime for centuries.
Hello, I have a question, more a curiosity: what about bloomers? How were the pants worn in 1850s? I mean, they were split as the lingerie or fully lined to fluff them out? Thank you, ,love the video
Bloomers, and I’m assuming you mean the ones women wore to cycling and other activities, were outerwear. They were not split crotch as that would be public indecency. The “fluff” you speak of was often just the drawers underneath or the other layers and how wealthy they were. Wealthier classes could afford to have tighter fitting bloomers that looked more like breeches.
Thank you so much, but I was curious about Amelia Bloomer's style, much more like harem pants than breeches, worn with a short skirt or tunic
@@croitoriafaraformule I don’t think you quite understand. Anything worn on the outside was sewn shut. Could you imagine being a Victorian lady, having front to bum for all to see if you tripped? Absolutely not! Quite scandalous. The legs were sewn together and there are many extant pieces to look at should you care to look.
I like that you make all sort off sport , with dress
Scientific research through historical dressmaking.
Those combinations are worse than hospital gowns for having your unmentionables making impromptu appearances 🤭🤣
At least the combos look better...and a smidge warmer (I never understand how the hospital gowns can possibly be comfortable for people who are always too cold...even with blankets
Were you able to get the old boots wearable?
If I had the space (and money), improbably spend tons of time making patterns based on what you show...I cant follow someone else's pattern worth a darn, but can make my own and follow it. But, when to wear it...I prefer athletic wear!
Xanadu, 1880 style
"Off with the pad!" At least it want "off with its head!" Lol
