Thanks all 4 of u , i am fmg also , i passed step 1 few months ago , i wanto add something like if u really wanto do this u can manage money somehow , in my opinion step 1 nd step 2 ck can b taken in india , nd there is a lot of free material available here nd there and some u have to buy . So most of people would want to take both these steps during mbbs years or atleast soon after graduation, if u can manage around 3 to 3.5 lakh indian rupees will be enough for these two exams , rest of money for further process can be managed later by joing part time job as well .but its true it will need money in anyway u do it so plan wisely and be ready for anything...... Thanks @boneteacher sir for this podcast.
So this can be done only when u start with first yr.. And your have money in hand..
Else.. You end up earning for 5 yrs.. Saving 6-7 lacs per year.. Then start studying.. (U cant save that much as an mbbs.. U have to practice also) And if not done.. You will end up an mbbs even after 6-7 yrs without having an indian pg as well. 😩😩😩😩😩😩

Ma'am, What if we invested our every single penny into it, and unfortunately could not match later. I am saying this as USMLE is very uncertain and there is a match for just 1 of two applicants. The probability of getting the final match is just 50%. Moreover, the IMG's posts are a mere fraction of the entire available slot. It would not just be frustrating but a financial disaster and lifetime depression. What is your advice on this for a student from a middle-class family? I am not being pessimistic, but it's just the harsh reality that needs to be well advised to avoid any nervous breakdown of the student and his family altogether.

The argument that you, as a foreign medical graduate, don't have the huge debt ( approx 200000 us dollars) that the American residency doctors have, is irrelevant. Because at the end of the residency ( usually 3 years) each one will get a job of at least 100000 US dollars and jump to 250 k in a couple of years. But the Foreign medical graduate on J1 visa will have to look for Waiver jobs in rural underserved areas . These are very hard to get and the legal procedure is very costly. There is a high possibility that you will have to leave USA after residency because you did not get a doctor job on H1.Everyone should be aware of this. Only green card holders and American citizens can be relaxed during residency. They are guaranteed a well paid job. Their debts are nothing compared to their income. The FMG / IMG just gets to do the residency but has to bevready for no job or hardship.

I've gone through mam's Instagram. There is no way I believe she is an average middle class Indian. Maybe I'm wrong but how can she afford 2 iPads (I'm sure 1st was replaced by the 2nd) an IPhone, an apple watch and 2 laptops(again replaced). She mentions on her iphone Insta post that it was her self earned money she bought iPhone with but still I find it hard to digest this because she never mentions doing a job(in her visa interview post she mentions she worked at a clinic but it's no way feasible).
Mam is also kinda sketchy on her non prep posts(in my opinion) such as expenses, her post doc research offer et.
But still she was very much helpful about the steps and her experience as an post intern esp. when in 2k18 her friends cleared NEET PG
P.S: I've gone through her Instagram thoroughly so as to make a foundation of my own. I in no way am being disregarding her helpfulness and if she sees this I thank you for all the amazing posts.(it would be helpful to give us an estimate of your own expenses as all in all incl. Your stay food and travel expenses to observership& interviews in US as these form the major chunk of expenses incurred).

@@the_md_ali not that owe you any kind of explanation, but my first iPhone was worth 25k, which I was able to purchase by saving my internship stipend. I used to get paid 20k a month in internship and it wasn’t hard to save that money. I did not have the iPad for step 1. I had a crappy xiaomi tablet. After step 1, I worked for a month non stop, where I was paid 1200 Rs a day, and occasionally I would go there even afterwards. This is how I saved up for the iPad. The laptop my father got for me coz my older laptop was 5 years old. This second iPad you are talking about was purchased when I got married and my husband could afford to buy me nice things. My current laptop was given by my program.
I’m as middle class as they come. I used hand me down phones all through college like xiaomi and my brothers old phone.
