I use Google Docs totally online, I ever print anything, so in Page Setup I change the colour of the page. As a Masters student, I have different colours for uni work (pale yellow), my daily personal journal (pink) and for documents that my husband needs to see (blue) and quite a few others. And I know instantly by looking at the page what kind of document I'm looking at. This is also really useful if you use Google Docs on your phone, because the colours stand out when scrolling! Thank you for your video, I struggled for ages to work out how to put a video in, and now I know! :)
Your right to the point. Easy to follow and your speed is refreshing. So many people talk to slow and have too much side talk. I appreciate the in and out
I enjoy how you assume that we know (or can figure out) all the small steps in between what you're teaching. Makes for such an engaging video! I wish all tutorials like this. Excellent work!
The features that I found most useful were the ability to cite sources, sharing the document with others that don't have google suites, and the adding of the video into a google doc. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you for that! I hope we will soon see full embedded video, but in the meantime the workaround definitely does the trick! Hopefully we'll get some more citation formats in the future but for now, it's a great start.
Excellent video. My favorite so far - is the citation format. Makes things so much easier. I have to watch this one over a few times and then duplicate what you're doing. So many time-saving tips included here. Thank you!
Excellent tut! I'm a very old Wordperfect dude, and have only just discovered the possibilities of Google Docs. I now use a laptop - Windows - a smartphone, and an android tablet, so need a WP that is easy to use, and can be shared between platforms. Thanks for sharing.
My favorite is the explore function. Teachers are having to teach from home and we are having to use google forms. I want to make the more appealing for my students.
Nice video, so crisp and clear. No long and cringe intro video, short to the point and no jargon. It also covers many interesting features that I completely missed even after I already using google docs for years! Even if this a 3 years old video, things barely changed and I found it still relevant today, albeit I can't find some cover up feature that google docs implemented recently.
The Explorer tip is my favorite because I'm always opening another tap instead now I can see it side by side when I'm researching something! Nice thanks alot. I was trying to look for different ways to advance so this was good!
That was a super presentation. Your videos are so helpful to me in getting real value from Google's amazing free tools. Over the last year i have introduced Chromeboxes, ChromeOS and Google cloud computing to my everyday life almost completely abandoning Microsoft Windows. I find more potential there every day. I realise that you aim your videos at the education fraternity but they are equally helpful to the oldies fraternity too, I left education 52 years ago, long before personal computers were even dreamed of and have always enjoyed new knowledge, new skills, and finding better ways to do things in everyday life. Your videos are really stimulating.
Thank you for taking the time and leaving this kind and encouraging comment. I try my best to provide as much helpful content and as many useful videos as possible, so hearing that you founs it useful has made my day!
@@FlippedClassroomTutorials Hi, I'm setting up a Knowledge Base for Australian Schools. I have a Google Site that I want to share and can password protect it using Google Forms. But .... once someone has access to the Google Site itself (having entered the correct password) what's stopping them from going directly into the Google Site directly later ... and sharing it with other schools if they want to? Any ideas? :|
My favorite tool is Templates in g-mail. I write similar emails to clients often. I can store paragraph clauses in the Templates section which saves me time and keeps my messages accurate when stipulating terms and payments, etc.
Wow you refreshed all my knowledge of docs and sheets that I built up through out the years in a very simple and clear way. I like all but explore is more . Keep it up
This is SOOOO clever and helpful. I’m trying to transition my MS Word document expertise into the Google parallel universe. Now I have hope that I will be able to accomplish in Google Docs what I was able to accomplish in MS Word.
Another tip I find useful is" If there is something I can't do in my doc. I will got to word or pages for example, create what I need to and then save as a jpg and then insert that into the doc. Will work even if you are using and image and wording but then would have crop the whole area or screen shoot to be able to create the jpg
It's such a useful feature. Especially when editing documents or planning an event with many people involved, assigning makes a huge difference as to making sure everyone is aware of action points.
Thank you. I think it would be good to preface these by pointing out some of these tips - like no.1* - are only available through Chrome. I couldn’t understand why I didn’t have the mic and voice type in my Docs and I had to search on the internet for a clue. It’s worth pointing out because others, such as the adding fonts, are not dependent on using Chrome, so a bit confusing at first. *Actually, it may be the only one!
Absolutely brilliant! One problem nagging me for a while. I am an aspiring freelance content writer. I need to make a writing portfolio on Google Docs to show that to clients but I am confused about how to share my content with my clients in a professional way? Secondly, to do that which one should come first, Google Docs or Google drive? Please help.
Thank you so much. I have a question : Can I use Google sheets to create an automated Report, where the Report draws information from a database and inserts it into the Report in a specific order ? I want to create a Report for my clients, but there are variables with different data sets that need to be displayed in the Report. Custom information that I normally manually have to cut and paste from different word documents into the Report, depending on what their unique profile is.
Are you trying to create reports (ie. individual files for each user profile say for example in the case of reports or invoices) or do you want the report to be live and change the data displayed as you select different people. I live dashboard sort of say. The first will be doable through Autocrat and merging Sheets and Docs. The second scenario can be done using data studio and data connections to Sheets. If I find time in the next few weeks I am happy to make an in depth video on both of these but hopefully this points you in the right direction.
Another great tutorial thanks. I think you can also hyperlink an inserted Google drawing to a video. You can even create multiple hyperlinks within one Google drawing What I'd like to see is a text to speech reader (for proofreading) like the excellent Android ones. I've seen a few addons but none of them are so impressive so far.
Yes, a hyperlink works as well as a set of multiple videos within a single drawing. I agree with what you say about the add ons. Make sure to use the feedback button in the help menu. The team at Google actions the most requested features.
Excellent presentation. The right amount of time was spent on each subject. Not too much, not too little.
Thank you! Really appreciate it

How does a student able to write on a google class assignment in google doc?
Super video! Users often overlook the ability to add more fonts. Great tip!
I agree. I often get asked about fonts. Hopefully we'll get the option to upload our own in the future.
Your right to the point. Easy to follow and your speed is refreshing. So many people talk to slow and have too much side talk. I appreciate the in and out
Thank you! Really appreciate that.
I enjoy how you assume that we know (or can figure out) all the small steps in between what you're teaching. Makes for such an engaging video! I wish all tutorials like this. Excellent work!
Excellent as always. Great communicator. Many thanks

Thank you very much for this lesson. I love the "explore" feature with the citation.
The EXPLORE button!! This is genius, all of it, for someone who’s never edited w/ Docs.
😘 MWAH!
My favorite is the explore function. Teachers are having to teach from home and we are having to use google forms. I want to make the more appealing for my students.

I love the exploring in google Docs
Auto text is one I'll use that I didn't know about. Also the tip on how to share with an email address outside of Gmail. Thank you!
What is the Google Docs short cut equivalent for MSWord "Ctrl+Shift+Enter: Insert a column break"?
Amazing tips Thank you!
Best of all was inserting video in docs. There is no need to open doc and video separately when creating interactive content.
I agree, having all in one place is super helpful for our students. And it helps to create more engaging content.
Well done! Thank you very much.
