choi ung knows he can’t let yeonsu break his heart again, he can’t experience losing her again, so he tells her he won’t date her again but he still wants her in his life. so friends is the safe option for him, he can be with her but also protect his heart.
But that's torturing Yeonsu.. they just have to talk about each other's feelings openly

But being friends is a cop out because in order to get what you really want you have to take the risk. Every time you fall in love you have to take that risk. He's never really told her how much he "likes" her. Three little words. She told him though. She told him and he never said it to her back. Both characters are cowards. She couldn't tell him about her life and what she was going through because she felt inferior and embarrassed. He couldn't tell her he loves her because he feared losing her and being alone. So the first time she ran and now he is trying to run. She told him though that if he comes to her she will grab onto him and never let him go. Did he forget that part? Who remembered it in the flashback?
@@wpl8275 Agree, and that's the point. If being courageous is easy, everyone will be doing it. But it's not. So they cop out. This is the issue they need to resolve, and we'll have to painfully watch until it happens.
It's funny how we are all so invested in the lovelife of two fictional characters - we get so stressed because of their stubborness. But that's one of the best things about this drama, the characters are so relatable, what they're going thru is something that happens in real life.
Tables have turned lol its Yeonsu's turn to do the chase. Throughout the first half of the series we saw Woong hinting of wanting for reconcilation but Yeonsu was so adamant with hiding her feelings for him. The kiss was an emotional outburst from Woong. I mean the man has been longing for Yeonsu; you know remember the lines 'Do you want to sleepover?', 'how are you since then? Answer me', or the hand touching scene? However, despite all efforts of Woong, Yeonsu still won't open up even to the point of breaking from their momentous kiss in the rain

Thissss. Everyone was hating the fact that they are still not together and that Yeonsu was clear that she wants to be together again and stuff but how many times did Woong said and acted that they wanted to be together but Yeonsu ran away from him. Also, the man is dense af and you think that Yeonsu not telling how she really feels is going to help Woong figure her out.
Also, Woong wants her and shows how many times that he'll pick her over anything even being verbally abused by her grandma but Woong doesnt really want to be vulnernable again only to be left again without any explanation. He said that its much better for him to never feel companionship and just be left alone instead of being able to experience it and then be abandoned.
Although, I have to say that if NJ and Woong really dated, it'll go against everything he was thinking at episode 9 even if he's plan was to make Yeonsu jealous

i know they're good in acting, not just good but like really excellent but why does it feels like they're not even acting especially in their romantic scenes? I watched Dami in IC she's good there but when it comes to romantic scenes, there were hesitations. As to CWS, he can really pull off any characters but always hesitant to do RomComs as he's not confident about it. But with Dami as his partner, he knows he can do it. Together, they can do it better, their connection is just amazing. Also read that CWS declined a Romance Movie role so he can work with Dami in OBS. And the rest is history. He's already a top movie star but with OBS, he's now a certified Kdrama Dream Boyfriend to us fans. 😁❤️

Can we all just take a minute to appreciate how well Ji-ung's actor delivered this scene. His expression of hurt ,confusion and the inhibition he is imposing on himself from hope. It has been delivered so perfectly. It show right through and makes you feel the same amount of pain in his eyes. bravo man!:)

I really hated Yeon-su’s character, but she is really growing on me. Growing up poor with your mother in a deathbed with no father around must have left a big scar in her heart. She also had no friends in high school because she was so focused on not being poor and providing for her family. Ung was the only person who genuinely cared for her and wondered how she was doing. She was afraid that he wouldn’t appreciate her and was afraid of him knowing her insecurities that she cut it off. It’s tragic on both sides, but knowing you like someone after being responsible for cutting them off is the biggest regret imo.

And also she keeps growing her feeling and more open to others after ep 10. She becomes more emotional and less selfish. She also starts to down her guards from other people. Which are 180° changes from her early character. One of the best characters development in my opinion.
This episode showed they still love eachother a lot but can’t get over their past just yet. Hope they work through it 💕

Love these introspective, milder episodes. All three of them are stuck in an unreasonable stalemate and are scared of the risk of being alone again. It's just a matter of who takes the leap of faith first.
Episodes 5 and 6 were so touching. They explained a lot, especially the basis of the longstanding friendship between Ung and Ji-Ung.
All five of them including NJ and the Assistant PD are tangled up in different degrees with each other.
There's this quote, "friends can be lovers but lovers can't be friends". It exists in reality but not all the time, in general to be more precise. Though it is good to be friends again after a break up to have closure, but I don't think it will stop there. First, it will never be just platonic love because it is hard to resist the old feelings. And as the time passes by, the "you should get back together" remarks will come in talks. Then the time will come when the person's unanswered questions will turn into what ifs.
I understand Ung's decision to be friends with Yeon-soo again, because he thought that would be the safest decision for him without worrying of being abandoned again. While Yeon-soo, is starting to break down once again like what she said that she isn't confident like she used to but the good thing is she is starting to be true to her feelings.
It's insane how realistic and accurate OUR BELOVED SUMMER is. We can all relate to the characters and feel every single emotions in our bones. My sister even told me : "this series is so good, it makes me feel several emotions I never felt before". Best actors, best OSTs, best cinematography ♥️ Thank You producers for OUR BELOVED SUMMER ♥️ I just hope for them to be happy and true to their feelings soon soon 🙏

Yes, while watching this drama I was thinking that this is truly a slice of life drama, because it was too relatable and I definitely resonated with the emotions being expressed by the characters.

I think the cutest part came just after this clip where Yeonsu is finally going home. And we can all see how Choi Ung is obviously clinging unto her despite pushing her to leave. The way he is tailing her closely means that he won't really just let Yeonsu go. He never once stopped loving her and he'll be damned if he let's her go again this time around - as Choi Ung said it himself that being alone after being with someone isn't something he don't want to experience again - so that means he will do everything he can now that he realized he can't live without her anymore. He simply got back to being used by her presence.

MY HEART LITERALLY ACHED SO BAD WHEN HE SAID HE WOULDNT DATE HER AGAIN 😭😭😭. (we know that he wont prob leave her alone like that tho. hoping for a happy ending.)
In this episode Dami were so cute when she's in Jealous and Tsundere mode.... But it's sad at the same time when she finally trying to open herself to him again, he just want to be friends "for now" 🥲🥲🥲
I really appreciate how flawed all the characters are and their realistic reactions to things.
People might think its just poor writing and dragging the plot because it can be solved if they communicated properly. However, that is the point.
They have shit communication. Them not being honest with each other isn't a new thing. It's been established since the beginning. It's one of the major factors that caused them to repeatedly break up even before the final break.
Yeonsu actually just wants Ung to tell her what she's been wanting to hear for 10 years: that he loves her, so that she can believe in his love for her. Ung just wants reassurance from Yeonsu that he's safe giving himself over to his love for her and that she won't keep abandoning him at the first sign of trouble. Ung follows Yeonsu around this whole scene and throughout the series. While Yeonsu keeps putting herself in Ung's path
I'LL NEVER GET TIRED OF THIS SHOW, THIS STORY. AND I'LL NEVER EVER GET TIRED OF THESE TWO BEING PAIRED UP. I HOPE THEY WILL HAVE MORE DRAMAS OR MOVIES. I AM EVEN MORE SAD THAT THERE ARE ONLY 6 REMAINING EPISODES.

Judging from the preview of next week's episode I doubt they'll make any progress towards getting back together. Not with NJ in the picture already claiming she and Choi Ung are dating and Jiung's feelings for Yeon su. But I feel sorry for Yeon-su because she has realized she shot herself in the foot and it won't be so easy winning Choi Ung back.

When I saw Ji Ung's co-worker in her last scene in episode 10, I thought she would normalize Ji Ung's feelings to Yeon-su. because Ji Ung's co-worker felt what Ji Ung had felt when he saw Choi Ung and Yeon-su.
Yeon-su and Choi Ung, they must realize who their hearts have been for all this time.
Nj might understand Choi Ung that Choi Ung and Yeon-su's feelings are very strong.

@@Moon-vf2nm Almost everyone has a crush on someone: Jiung's coworker has a crush on him, Jiung has a crush on Yeon-su, and NJ has a crush on Choi Ung. Yeon-su and Choi Ung definitely need to talk to each other. They both want each other but Choi Ung doesn't want to get hurt again. If there's any chance of winning him back she should tell him her fears and insecurities. They both shouldn't hold anything back. Your English is fine and understandable. No need to apologize for it.
what i like most about this show is you can relate to each characters, even the second leads. You are rooting for the main lead to get back together but also feel the pain of the second lead watching from afar. Especially Ji Ung. I can feel his pain, I also want him to be happy but then again I also want the main leads to end up together. This show is well written. The actors are amazing showing emotions and throwing lines. I felt every emotion from first episode. Its crazily addicting and well directed. Kudos to the team OBS. I wish there will be a lot of shows like this.

This is so realistic to the point that i can relate it so much, i understand both pov, woong and yeonsu. Woong have had it enough, he tried hard for the past earlier episodes, told yeonsu to open up, gave signal to her but she still played dumb. So now it’s yeonsu’s turn to wait till he come to her. Serve her right but i still want them both to talk heart to heart, telling each other why their previous relationship didn’t work out, what’s the reason for the break up and now, if they want to get back together, they have to work on this, TOGETHER.
Dami’s acting is just soooo good! I love this couple and their dynamics. Can’t wait until they get back together (hopefully)

I think the weirdest thing is that Ji-ung has what Yeon-soo desperately needs. He's essentially the adopted son of Ung's parents. They took him in because his own parents abandoned him. Yeon-soo has her grandmother but she too is missing parents and Ung's parents would be great in laws for her. Especially Ung's mother. The big question mark to be answered is why does Ung continue to have a flashback of being lost/abandoned. What caused that feeling? It's obvious how much his parents love him. Why does he fear abandonment so much and why can't he tell Yeon-soo how much he loves her? He's hiding that reason from her as she is hiding the reason she broke up with him. It's easy to see he won't fall in love with NJ. She'd dump him after a couple of months. And Yeon-soo isn't going to fall in love with Ji-ung because they are better off as friends. Ji-ung needs Chae-ran. She's the one that loves him and knows him best. And finally, can some company put Park Jin-joo into a lead role in a romcom already. She's uber talented, beautiful, smart and funny as ____. She lights up every scene she is in and has done it for 10 years. Ever since her first film, Sunny. She can sing, dance and act. What's wrong with you producers.

It's not easy to imagine Ung being left alone. His parents have been shown to be very busy and perhaps when he was younger their focus on their restaurant business sometimes took precedence over him. It's easy to imagine them forgetting to pick him up, or forgetting him somewhere. He looked to be in a city in that short scene, perhaps they left him somewhere and he got lost.
You know a drama/series is good when it frustrates you in a good way And this is what this drama is doing to all of us, OBS Nation. It frustrates us, like Woong is to YeonSoo, in a good way.

I read a comment that says they hated yeonsu. I understand why. But honestly, that is what makes her character interesting: realistic and relatable. It was also mentioned once that kook yeonsu was more childish than choi ung. The story needs that kind of personality because, obviously, it what makes the story going and it made us realize how important it is to understand someone else's flaws.

Yeah - he knew they would come after him- and my grandfather was well known and was from a wealthy family- he thought he would keep me safe.
Dami's character was so annoying when i started watching but after a few episodes i realised how connected i feel to her ofcourse she is brittle and ofcourse she broke up with him because of her insecurities. Because i choose that too when you are a person that hides alot and shows that they are strong and the responsibilities come first you kinda start believing that people shouldn't know how vulnerable,tired and broken you can be so you cut off people because of the fear that what they like might not be your true self and if they get too close and find out they'll leave..... Gonna watch it again soon❤

from my perspective, before, Woong didn't really showed a sign wanting to be back together with Yeonsu...it looks like he just want Yeonsoo too spoke up, like how was she these pass few years, was she ok after the break up and could actually tell him what was the reason for the break up...you know, some closure maybe...but it's still hard for her to open up at that time...until that kiss made her realized and can't hide her feeling anymore...it's weird tho, you kissed someone but asking to be Just Friends but we understand in his POV as well...what sure now is Yeonsoo feeling, she still loves Woong, I mean, we know now that Woong never actually dissapeared from her mind, she love him when they were still a couple, still in love with him after the break up and until now...her feeling toward Woong never changed which what she realized, she thought of herself that she's confident not to be swayed by her feeling when she first met Woong once again but that kissed from Woong broke that....and yeah, it broke someone heart when someone asked you to be just friends after a kissed right...hmm...anyway...now, the remaining eps it's gonna be about Woong feeling toward Yeonsoo, what actually does he thought...as a viewer, we sure know that he does still very in love with Yeonsoo but yeah, this drama kinder unpredicted which I love but we need him to SAY THE WORDS since day 1...which what Yeonsoo been wanting to hear since the very beginning right.....Woong need to step up there and say it, he need to accept his feeling, if not, Yeonsoo might move on in the end you know, we know he's been lying about "OK" being "Just Friends" and he will regret it later on...the ending is still blur but I want them to be the end game seriously......and yessss.....PLEASE TOGETHER IN THE SAME PROJECT AGAIN.....WE NEED MORE
