  • I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. Thanks for watching.

Honestly, yeah! I just moved to a new apartment and our backyard bit is the low spot and has a drain, when we moved in it was 90% blocked with 1-6 inches of debris - degraded enough to be soil with plants growing in it - and the first rainstorm we had major flooding (unfortunately, i was out of apartment then). The main culprit was the gutters being completely clogged, but the next rainstorm after that, thankfully after the gutters were fixed, you know I was out there clearing the drain and making drainage channels to it on the parts of the ground too flat for it to work properly. It's been so satisfying seeing the yard go from a soggy mess for days after a storm those first few days to draining well within an hour of the rain stopping, with way less mosquitos hanging around. I'm hoping another day when I get some energy and cooler weather to finish building the low spots back up and see if I can take the drain covers off to shovel out the built-up sediment, too, I can see it's about 50% dirt inside the drains right now and it's a gradual enough slope that I don't think it'll erode.

Always makes for a good video when Post goes back to his roots. Not only are municipalities and DOT's more diligent about clogged drains due to your video, but you've inspired a whole bunch of private citizens (Including my S.O. and I) to go out and clear street clogs when they see them.

It was such an "Ah Ha!" moment when Mr. Post10 taught me, most of the crap blocking a drain can just be pushed through.
Even rubbed along with the feet sometimes. And in a culvert unblocking, even huge branches or logs will move right along.

This Post 10 drain clearing reminded me in 1983 when cat. 3, Hurricane Alicia hit the Houston, Texas area. The eye went over my parents house. The street was flooded and storm drain was in front of my parents house. I waded out with a garden rake and pulled all the tree limbs out of the gutter. The water slurped down until the street was clear of water. Raked some more limbs out of the street until a black wall of clouds was approaching quickly. Time to hunker down inside. That hurricane was a wind event and not so much rain.
Later we went into the attic. The rafters were pulled up some only a short part of the nails were still in the supporting structure. We came "that close" to loosing the roof during the hurricane.
