Thank you. My sister has dementia and since she doesn't talk with me anymore I did notice she likes touching items I bring. When I searched on RUclips for diy sensory mats your video came up. I have all these ideas and never thought of the crinkle or corn kernels. Again thank you. Blessings 😊
I had a friend from church cut out thin wooden shapes with a hole drilled in it to attach to a ribbon. Key chains with fun items are nice also to stick in small pockets. You can also use the front of a shirt for buttoning and unbuttoning.
Thinking of ways to help my mother in law and in googling I found fidget blankets/quilts. 😀 I'm super excited to make something/s for her in her battle with dementia. I love her SO much and it makes me super happy to know we'll be sitting and having fun together working with our hands. Your video was the first to pop up and I love what you shared. This will definitely be fun to make. So much so I'm already thinking to make at least 2 to start. Plus other crafty things for her. She's the sweetest and has always been and I want to continue to be there for her any way I can. Thanks again!
I know that this is an older video, but I love it! Thank you so much for keeping on RUclips. I crochet for charity, and one of the things requested is fidget blankets for Alzheimer's patients. I was not sure how to make one and the ideas here are great. I do have a brand new sewing machine, so I will be putting it to use to make some blankets now. Fantastic video!!!
I came across this video and it’s my birthday soon and I get angry very easily and I get stressed so I am going to ask my mom for some fidget things and make one of these thanks for the idea love your style
Just came across your video and loved it. Our ladies at church are wanting to make some to donate to nursing homes and such so I've been watching all videos I can find for info, yours is great !! Can I ask what the size of the bases were cut to start with ?
Just went out and spent $139.00, in materials..glass beads ..small wooden spools...heavy embroidery thread to braid to put beads on some heavy ribbon some fake furs that does not lose it’s fur when pulled on ...several types of zippers ..some baby toys several other things also I’m excited to get started my mother-in-law is in last stage lawyer bodies dementia and she’s always Fidgeting and pulling on her clothing this will be perfect for her and I will donate several to the nursing home great idea ladies
I want to crochet one. I've seen so many ideas on Pinterest. My aunt has Dementia, but she's content with doing word puzzles, otherwise, I'd make one for her. It's an incredibly good idea.
A good place to collect items or fabrics is a local goodwill or similar shop. I bought and ugly fur vest so there is fur and the knitted part and it’s washable. Two sensations for one price and it was the correct color to be half price.
I'm trying to make these for my residents I got a block toy car I want to attach it but I would like the wheels to still move if that makes sense Any suggestions?
Thanks!!! Now I can create a blanket to help the elderly go through a very difficult time.
Thank you so much for this guide. Your presentation was beautiful, and gently spoken. I can tell you're a very kind person!💞

Brilliant. Something to do during lockdown for nursing homes. Accessible, full of ideas and not too long.

Crochet is a good idea too!
My mum loved word search puzzles, then I noticed she wasn't doing them any longer...she forgot how to. I'm not making her a fidget blanket
Wonderful ideas for the quilts.
Glad you like it :)
Thank you for all the ideas - I am working on one now. :)
That's great! I hope it gets some good use :)
Cute ideas! But I wouldn’t use popcorn kernels because then it becomes unwashable
Good point!
great ideas!
Great ideas!
Great variety of items! I had a request to make one but had no idea what one was. Your video gave me lots of ideas! I'm eager to start!
Glad to hear it!
You are brilliant, thank you ❤
Great ideas! Any thoughts on the bags (popcorn kernels, "crinkly" things) and keeping the mat machine washable?
Not sure, maybe if they were stuffed with something like plastic beads instead, or made removable?
