You are a lucky man on earth that kind of life is better then have millions of bucks, the freedom is priceless and I envy you in a good and healthy way, peace bro!!!
i've watched you catch, clean, prepare, cook build and paint. You impress me each & every time. Your patience many should take note to. Your lack of procrastination, getting the job done is a trait many fail at. Your understanding of nature. I hope those that watch your videos learn those qualities, for that is what brings you great gifts. To live in a world that is not filled with processed foods & arrogant people. If the world would go under and it could, you will be one that would thrive well.
Thanks so much, i've been meaning to try this for some time got a young moose a couple of days ago, your instructions are great, the texture and taste is amazing, good stuff thx.
Hey Man,nice to see our people still doing traditional things with the animals the great-spirit gave to us.would like to hunt with you and charlie some day.take care
Hey, Andrew. I've read about eating moose nose many times, but thanks to you it brought the whole experience to life. More power to you, Bro. And thanks from SoCal.
i hunt in northrn manitoba and was always asked for the nose and i always kept it and gave it to the elders. this video was great now i see the process i think i will try moose nose thanks for the cool vids man
Hey your a big inspiration to me and my friends im a young hunter waiting on my first moose, ive also help trap some smaller animals and your vids help me
It's dope. I hope us young people rediscover this.. I know our elders eat the traditional foods still.. I just hope we can all go back to eating Wild food again! We'd all be healthier when we all realize that us indigenous people DO have a cuisine and a delicious one at that!! =)
I would have never thought of Moose Nose with carrots and potatoes, very interesting. I see alot of videos from people here who have the expensive Knife, Gun or whatever and that is the only thing to have or you are a lower class citizen. I really enjoy seeing your real life and thank you so much for sharing with us, it is great to see you use what you have. One of the best channels I have seen on YT. Thanks my friend and sometimes I envey you. Hope you take it the right way.
Friend have you tried scraping the hair off using a knife or a sharpe edged item? We use to butcher hogs and we would use hot water poured over a toe sack and then scrape it with a knife taking off the hair! Love your videos! Hope you keep making them. May Almighty GOD bless and watch over you everyday while you are in the wilderness alone!
Greetings from Alaska. It is great to see how someone else living close to the land does things. I've been burning the hair off but will try plucking it after boiling next fall. Looking forward to watching more of your videos!
Something most people would toss aside but makes a great meal. I'd try that for sure. Love these videos man. Looks like you'll have lots of fresh smoked moose meat. Fantastic!
Good for you andrew for having patience with some of the jackasses that post stupid comments on here. Like the 'Merican who assumes youre a poacher because you have racks intact. Hey ignorant Americans, he is Metis, meaning first nations or aboriginal and therefore has special hunting and fishing privileges here in Canada. Allowing these special rights is Canada's attempt to give back to the Native peoples who the white settlers have taken so much from. They lived off the land sustainably for thousands of years and then europeans came and divided it up, claimed it and told the natives it belonged to them. Allowing them to continue to hunt for subsistence and to carry on their traditions is canadas way of showing remorse, regret and respect to the native peoples who's way of life was destroyed after european contact. That being said, andrew is an admirable and commendable metis man who records traditional skills and knowledge and posts his vids here for all of us to see and learn from. Do not give him a hard time, he is a role model for young metis people, an inspiration to those of us who feel detached from nature and the earth and likely a source of great pride by for his peers and elders. Andrew your ancestors would be proud of you and so are most of us watching. PS. I am not a native person, but i am educated and know the history of colonization in my country... And its a history us educated white men are none too proud of.
Andrew seems like a good guy, and I enjoy his videos. Too many people take advantage of these special privileges to the detriment of the wildlife. Red Lake in Minnesota is an example. The walleye population was decimated by the "subsistence" privileges given to the Native Americans. To the credit of the tribe they cooperated with DNR and the lake is experiencing a comeback. I guess I have a hard time with different rules for people depending on their race, religion, etc. They don't seem to correct for past injustices, but they do create more hard feelings. History is a complicated thing, and their are plenty of villains and good guys everywhere you look. Let's not use it as an excuse for making even more mistakes.
I tried the moose nose yesterday. Ended up "skinning" the hair off with a knife otherwise cooked according to your recipe. Tastes very good, really like tongue but looks different :) Thanks, moose nose will be my new tradition!
My old man loved to cook this after a successful hunt.. said it was bad joojoo to waste. But after he boiled it he would fry it in a pan with onions... it was ok to me.. kind of an acquired taste but not at all bad. Great video.
The way live is wonderfull I know your young but my dad always say the best way live is out in the sticks, you can't live any better then that u r very luck, thank u for sharing your way of living.
Hey buddy.. where in the north you reside in?? I'm from Muskoday first nation.. but live in winnipeg currently... I'd absolutely love to live off grid. You pick morrels?
I know this one's an old one, but I learned something good, viz. how 'traditional' foods were prepared and eaten, whereby keeping with the 'nothing goes to waste' meme. Thanks for sharing. Love your vids.
woow the nose on the male must have been even bigger! carrots are good for the eyes, nose is good for your smelling sense and potatoes give you power a whole day!perfect hunter meal!
Hey man another good video; I've eaten lots of moose tongue both boiled and pickeled and its great. So I might give the nose a try looked real good in the video. Just a quick question how do you tell how far up the nose and how deep to cut? Also did you get the 2 moose or was there more and how many in your group; just you and cousin? One other thing I still have that Metis cook book if your interested just drop me a message. take care and keep safe. Kevin
love the moose tongue but never tried the nose. Charlie the beaver dog like it too? I see you do lots of taxidermy ehehehhhehh. keep em comin love them
i did learn something. Thanks. What's the story with the hunt. And the bear? You should make a few coat racks with the smaller antlers. It looks cooler than a nail in the wall!
First I just want say how much I enjoy watching your channel you are one of few men who live a truly free lifestyle keep on keepin on my friend......Also this may sound strange but ive watched 95% of your videos love them all but when I turn the volume up to certain level you can hear what sounds like a native drum faintly beating in the back round I do believe in the spirit world just wondering if you've heard it yourself and if its maybe just your camera functioning that way
I really think you should scald it at 165 degrees and the hair might wipe off. I scald hogs at 165 and it works awesome. I also scald deer legs for dog treats. A few rubs and the hair is gone. Not sure if it works for moose but I think its worth a shot. throw in a handful of pine needles along with it, the rosin will help grab the hair. You make me wanna try a deer nose! Bring temp up with pine needles, remove from heat, throw nose in, roll it around with some tongs or what not and keep it movin, should see the hair start to slip in a few mins, when you see a big chunk come off take it out and rub the hair off with some thick rubber gloves, that f@#$%er's gonna be hot. Love to see ya try it!
Man, You are livin the life! Atleast I think so. I mean I'm from vermont, i go to school and hunt on the weekends and what not. But man oh man I would love to live wherew u r. How many moose can u get a year up there? How does the moose nose taste anything similar to it?
you are very inspirering ! :-) , I notice a canada flag where abouts do you live ? , do you do exchange ( like show people in exchange for gaz or supplys ?? if so I'd be interested
My friends Nookomis had a moose nose in the house, and she was bringing it to the kitchen to cook it, and her sons step-daughter ran by her and made her drop it. She was all cute, looked all sad "My moose nose :(" she got it though :P
This is the most Canadian video I've ever seen.
I really like to see people use all of what they harvest .good video
"Harvest" tends to be a BS world on a planet overrun with trigger-happy people.
well my american friend i dont live in U.S.A i am canadian and i can shoot as many moose as i want anytime of the year! i have no seasons and i have no quota i am a aboriginal with a G.H.L i assure you i am not a poacher and there is nothing illegal goin on her in TheWildNorth.

Out of curiosity, what defines aboriginal? Is it both parents? Just one? A grandparent?
@@killcancer6499 being born on the land
Man I can remember when you first posted this video, I was some impressed that the nose was made use of, think it made a damn fine meal.
Thanks for sharing Andrew- I may attempt this when I harvest a moose

Try adding a few cubes of stock, some celery, thyme and rosemary and simmer for a few. If too thin thicken with a little water and flour. S&P also.
BitLife brought me here🙃😂
