- After a failed cover up operation during the Black Mesa incident, the H.E.C.U pulled out it's main fighting force in a hurry, leaving behind a portion of their own marines including Corporal Shephard. He must now regroup with the remnants of the marines left behind and try to find a way out of Black Mesa.

Opposing force always had this off feeling to it. Kinda felt less like a game and more like you were a person in this world experiencing an actual disaster. It had this more horrific, raw, and real tone to it. This captures that feeling perfectly.
True, too be honest I had more fun playing opposing force than the main half life 1 and it felt like I was actually stranded within Black mesa.

I liked both opposing force and blue shift. I felt both were too short.
@therealmcgoy4968 Well, blue shift was originally going to be just the expansion for the Sega genesis half life release, but when the Sega either got canceled or sale weren't happening they switch it to a pc port.
Opposing force felt way more like a game to me than half-life did, not in a bad way, like it had a playfulness to it
Seeing Shepard's eyes behind his mask really adds a level of humanity that is needed for him.

The ALICE gear, PASGT helmets, L-shape flashlights, M42 gas masks & BDUs are a nice change of pace from the more contemporary games and really take me back to when HL was orginally released.
it's such a nice change of pace from the same 'tactical' equipment every other game/show/whatever uses. i am so immensely tired of every single military looking the goddamn same in all media

It's funny because by this point in time, the Marines would be using the more modern load bearing vests over top of PASGT frag vests. Not sure why they went with the old style ALICE webbing which was around 2 decades old by this time. Although, some marines were running ALICE gear in the second Gulf War.

I hate that the black mesa HECU models do not carry the same look as the original models. They are out of place for the era and it also just looks plain ugly
Oh thank God, I had a mini panic attack when I saw this was gone! This, Reinstated, Foxtrot Uniform, and Shephard’s mind have to be some of the best HECU content on the internet

There’s a group called Tripmine studios working on something called Operation: Black Mesa
It’s a full remake of both OpFor and Blue Shift.
And it looks pretty good.
They started production in 2007 and are still working on it.

It's a pity that the video of combine soldiers storming an apartment with a rebel hideout has been removed. 1 - the video was cool. 2 - there was my comment with an idea repeat the fight scene from the movie "The Devil's Own" for the video and you appreciated it. Now I don't even know if you remember it or not. I will write that comment again.

The scene begins with a squad of metrocops checking their weapons before getting out of their car somewhere on a street corner. Civil Protection officers watch as a uniformed insurgent walks into a house containing a cache of weapons for the rebels.
The civilian walks past the other civilians, and then looks back into the house. Entering the house, he quickly walks to the cache where the weapon is hidden and pulls it out. He stands against the wall and looks out into the corridor, preparing the weapon for firing.
The shot then shows another subway car driving down the street and a group of subway cops getting out of it. Passing civilians look back at them warily and accelerate to get away faster. Another rebel hid behind the some big object opposite the car, who sees the metrocops from the back and has the ability to shoot from in the back.
Metrocops are preparing to storm the house where the rebel entered at the beginning of the video. They stand near the door, talk, then slowly enter the door, looking around. The rebel in the house is waiting for the metrocops in the corridor and opens fire on them, killing several at once.
When gunfire begins, a rebel on the street also opens fire on the backs of other metrocops. He kills one and wounds another. An active skirmish ensues. Another car of metrocops come, which drops another armed squad. Another rebel from the top floor opens fire on the metrocops and kills one with an accurate shot. The firefight continues, and the rebels kill and injure several more metrocops. The C.P. open fire and retreat, carrying the wounded and calling in the Alliance Patrol Soldiers, who immediately arrive with the support of a hunter helicopter gunship and APC.
A rebel from the street runs into the house and warns of the arrival of the Patrol soldiers. The rebels and soldiers begin an active firefight, but the soldiers have the advantage. The rebels barely kill one soldier and injure another, but most of the shots go missing. The soldiers, on the other hand, open accurate suppression fire, in addition, the building begins to fire at the helicopter.
During the dash from cover to cover, one insurgent is wounded by several shots. The defenders need to retreat, they will not be able to fight against soldiers with a support helicopter. The wounded rebel heroically remains in the house to stop the Patrol soldiers while his comrades leave through the back door. The remaining rebels leave, and the wounded remains in the house with weapons in hand, heavy rapid breathing, animal grin and grenades.
Leaving the house, another rebel is killed, but the survivors rebels return fire and kill the metrocopes, who are ambushed.The remaining rebels flee and turning around. Then from the building comes the sounds of a short firefight, and then an explosion. Rebels run away in dark streets and hide.
Then the street in front of the house is shown again, where the frame smoothly stops on the killed metrocop, and the soldiers of the Patrol run past him. The alarm siren screams. The screen is dimmed. Video title in backlit letters.
(you can remake the conceived scene as you like, or just repeat it as in the film, and not as I wrote, just want to share an idea for the video)

I did plan for a sequel, but with how busy I am nowadays, it's highly unlikely at this point unfortunately.

I immediately recognised some of the music in this. Someone is a fan of the Castle series I see. ;)
fact:extraction was cancelled cause HECU command or whatever it is thought its already lost and sending extraction was a waste of man
I wouldn't say it was cancelled, as opposed to it being so botched and with so many hostiles in the area including the Black Ops now, that they had a very limited stay window, so they just retrieved everyone who was a stone's toss away from an LZ and bailed, leaving those deeper inside the facility to their fates as presumed MIAs or KIAs.
Like Freeman and Calhoun, what Shephard saw when he came to Black Mesa that day was dark and dangerous. Coming close to death numerous times, he still miraculously survived. I remember playing Opposing Force, back then, and saved so many Black Mesa security guards, scientists, and fellow grunts. Nostalgia! 💯😎👌

@@tamper2819 I know it's kinda wierd.The game was relased in 1998 and the year where game is happening is 2003.For some reasons military is still using those pineapple grenades (They've stopped using them in 1970's).
Non-hd models are using mp5 with grenade launcher,but the HD models are using a heavy rifle(m4) which is 50.caliber for no reason.Military worldn't use a 50.caliber rifles as an standard issue.

I just finished Opposing Forces and I tried to save everyone I could. I feel like Shepard would do the same because he never received his orders only told to look for this freeman guy he had no idea who or what it was.
