It does make sense lore-wise - thin, non-restrictive clothing allows you to have both protection and agility. But I agree. No other reason at all. Absolutely none.
to be fair, it appears to be made to not rustle and be as flexible as possible, also in hard difficulty in half life 1 they have some sort of stealth technology, so its likely some sort of active camo stealth suit
I like the Black Ops as in they were as brutal and strong as suggested and even technically accomplished their mission in the end. Still managed to get themeselves to get filled with lead by a scientist and a grunt but they were formidable and I believe a good chunck of the surviving opeartives from Black Mesa and the 7 Hour War were assimilated into Combine units.
I remember when I was still in First year highschool and having my first encounter with the female assassin, I thought the game was bugged because I can't see what shooting me, Even asked my dad to uninstall Half-Life because of it, then when I finally realize what shooting me, I spent an hour to "respectfully" inspect the female assassin.
Do you think think would have gone differently if all these assets trying to erase evidence/witnesses/survivors actually worked together with the security and scientists??
I thought this very same thing after playing half-life 1. It would make the most sense for them all to work together to and hold out while Freeman went to Zen. But then I played Opposing Force and realized the HECU marines are all brainless jarheads besides Shepard. Combine that with the age old phrase of “Just following orders.” To justify crimes against humanity and you start to see how much sense this makes for things to play out as they did. Marines aren’t paid or trained to think, they’re paid and trained to kill. And the black ops? First rule of covert ops is that you don’t ask questions outside of “where, when and how?” You ask “why?” You’re probably gonna be the next thing they “clean up.” It’s a classic story of science got horribly wrong, panicked governments doing everything they can to contain and destroy evidence and then realizing too late that they’re beyond fucked and try the nuclear option.
@@undulycriticalobserver2510 yep exactly makes you wonder also what the first combine forces that invaded where? Since in hl2 they are mostly human converted soldiers.

Amazing job with these vids. Very good chronology and clarity. I appreciate what you do!
I think you kind of missed a big part of Shephard's arc, when he descends to the B.O's main staging area beneath the undergound garage in sector E. Many of them were still locked in combat with race X, and even more still, manned their posts despite one of their primary objectives completed. This is a pretty big deal, since B.Os are considered superior to the H.E.C.U, and yet despite the odds, Shephard is able to fight his way through both the male, and female operatives on their chosen battle ground: a rather low-light environment, perfect for keeping them stealthy, thanks to their black jumpsuits; cramped and difficult to navigate through, again big advantage for the fast and nimble operatives who are very highly skilled in CQC, and finally, the storage area has a lot of industrial background noise, which further helps to conceal the BOs position, who are famously quiet, use silencers and even when injured still refuse to groan in pain. All these factors considered, makes Adrian an absolute giga chad, and help to solidify him as a certified bad ass, just like Gordon, hence he earns the respect of the G Man in the end.
@@ownage11445 Despite the gameplay of both games; they can't be anything more than a human being, Gordon's main reason for survival is the HEV while Shephard survived with his canonically overall less protective PCV but combined with his actual military experience, as well as both having access to highly experimental/weird weapons. They're both a normal soldier and a normal scientist that has weapons experience respectively, but with wacky stuff with them.
I saw the female Combine Assassins from HL2's concept art, it made me think, "Oh, cool, I bet they'll be like the ninja female assassin black-ops!" I was really hoping for them to be included in HL2. The Black-Ops female assassins speed, acrobatics, and guerilla tactics made them quite the opponents. They are fun to fight.
The female assassins are probably one of the most infuriating enemies to combat against with them constantly backflipping and chucking grenades everywhere, if Valve had decided to keep the crossbow as a part of there arsenal it would probably be absolute hell to deal with them, let alone one. Still, despite their irritating AI I do wish they would've returned in the sequel as their Combine counterparts for various reasons but sadly that never came to be. Closet we got to an official appearance was in the HL2 Survivor arcade games multiplayer mode as a playable character....which was only Japanese exclusive for some reason.

They pull out the even bigger fish of another military branch coming to clean up the black ops who came to clean up the HECU who came to clean up the black mesa staff who came to research Xenian life forms who came to escape the combine who came to conquer the universe
Note: if the Black Ops team was complaining about having to clean up the HECU's mess __**again**__, that implies that it's happened before. Which brings up an unanswered question: how did G-Man come to discover Earth originally, and how did Black Mesa discover the crystals to be able to get to Xen at all in the first place?
the female assassins could've been part of the HECU and they were meant to be in the dark and stealthy but in opposing force gearbox created the black ops and made the assassins part of it and add male assassins
i really liked how you used both BM and HL1 stalkyard maps as a training facilities for black ops. And I would also like more footage from Black Mesa, it really looks more modern and interesting than the Half Life version.
I actually feel the opposite about using Black Mesa footage for several reasons. 1. Just subjectively I think Half-Life looks a lot more stylistically interesting than Black Mesa and a lot of the redesigns are significant downgrades (the Nihilanth especially). 2. It's the actual canon version of the game. Marc Laidlaw's vision of Xen is ultimately Half-Life's alien Lovecraftian hellscape, not Black Mesa's lush biosphere realm (as is reflected in Alyx). A lot of the lore and writings about Xen are just incongruent with the Black Mesa interpretation. 3. It meshes with the expansions better as they're still only in GoldSource right now. 4. Creating a mental link with Half-Life 1 graphics and Half-Life 2 characters and concepts really helps streamline the series in a satisfying way and having the two art styles presented equally is a welcome addition. This was actually the first thing that drew me to this channel in the first place. 5. Half-Life is just more iconic than Black Mesa is and I doubt that will change anytime soon. At the end of the day this is all subjective and it's really Skyrionn's choice what he wants to do with his videos.
Honestly, I'm surprised the HECU was surprised the Black Ops showed up, the place went to shit, most members of the HECU left and it was getting progressively worse by the moment. Were they expecting the army to just give up?

The weird part is they were going to reuse the leather costumes in 2, eventually it got stolen by mgs4. And this was the only time Gman was “hands on” instead of getting others to do things.
I remember seeing an interview with a HL dev (maybe a modder, can't remember) where they explained that one plan they had for the assassins was that they would sneak up behind you and plant a grenade on you before black flipping away. The idea was to deter the player from just rushing them
5:34 Black ops grunts are noted to run faster than marines, Grunt: *Sprinting out of the view* Black ops: *Jogging far behind him* (This is a joke I just found it funny but the video is amazing.)

I really like how the Black Ops add more variety to the original Half Life and Opposing Force. The female assassins were definitely super annoying to fight. One thing I like about the Black Ops is with an additional factions you’ll have combat encounters with multiple forces at play (in a way it makes me think of the Covenant vs Flood vs Sentinels portions of Halo CE. Luckily the Halos are now on Steam and they go on sale regularly. Don’t buy Infinite for a couple more years because it has barely any content and the multiplayer is free. At this point it simply is not worth the $60 price tag. The MCC on the other hand comes with a lot of content) It’s really too bad that we didn’t get the Combine Assassins. HL2 was definitely a great game but it was pretty lacking as far as enemy and weapon variety goes. I really wish we would have gotten a lot of the stuff from the beta (the beta definitely had numerous problems and a fair amount needed to be cut, but Valve went too far causing HL2 to feel pretty barebones in some regards). Do you think that you’ll make videos talking about what little lore we had for various beta locations, characters, and enemies? Or probably not? Good luck on that big video you mentioned.
The real task here for both teams wasnt not to let civilians know of the Black Mesa research facility but not to let the combine to know of the humans an their planet
First time seeing them around in HL, I didn't really know who are they and what happened. I managed to figure out they are another government org sent out to silence the Resonance Cascade but I had no idea they were also sent to Black Mesa in order to quite literally silence everyone in their path including other government officials on site. I kinda wish we would see more how Black Ops would fight against HECU members in Black Mesa in some sort of a huge battle where they literally use everything they have. You know the official "cleaning crew" screwed up on the operation when the government sent out unofficial "cleaning crew" to cover up not only what the first party was trying to do but also pretty much eliminate that failed party lol. I always Black Ops were some of the more interesting type of characters in HL universe and im happy to see a proper video on them.
At 18:45 it is posible to kill famale assasin with magnum before she kill guard but its scripted soo guard die anyway. This will be fun if to leave player opportunity for real save him and heard some quote more.
Here's a theory to explore; What if Gordon didn't get sent into Xen to face the Nihilanth who was keeping a portal open to Earth from Xen, as what if the Nihilanth was the only thing preventing the Combine from taking over their world, which inevitably took to their notice and pursed Earth insteast after discovering Xen was taken over during the conflict. It could be quite possible the Nihilanth was also working with the Combine in taking over worlds as they were genetically modifying vortigaunts to be big massive brutes that were soldiers made for combat.

It was never about Freeman damn you...
-Adam, the sniper
Before the combine came, Adrian made sure to show them just what a grunt can do by giving the Black Ops a Black Eye.
Female Black Ops Assassin Supremacy 🙇♂️
Love to see a HL game from these guys' perspective
The Combine Assassins may still be an enemy in a future Half Life game.
I wish could have gotten a version of half life where you could play as the black ops from their prospective
I can't help but notice those jiggle physics...
Does Anyone know what is the soundtrack on 17:50 is ?
@Takanashi☣︎Zugaikøtsu oohs yeah thnx
6:19 isn’t that hecu training base?
I just realized the female assassins have jiggle physics.
Odd how we never got an official campaign with them.
0:57 And some say its the greatest cancer.
Sus at 4:47
At 18:45 it is posible to kill famale assasin with magnum before she kill guard but its scripted soo guard die anyway. This will be fun if to leave player opportunity for real save him and heard some quote more.
The amount of times I've tried to save him just to see what would happen 😂
@@Skyrionn Even if i know he will die anyway i jump out from elevator like tense spring from pen and sprint to kill assasin first.
After playing OpFor, I've concluded that Terry A. Davis was right about the CIA glowies.
i see why you like these guys: *the jiggle physics,* and i like them also (iykyk)
Um
The jiggle making my mesa ,black
Im a young half life player (11 yrs) and i can say, these black ops guys are a pain.
Hecu supremacy
Maybe the combine elites consist of some of the black ops
yes
The odds of any of them surviving the invasion are pretty low.
6:18 yeah, totally made to be agile. Nothing else…
Why do we always have to clean up a mess the grunts can't handle?
what is the big project you are working on
It involves both Half-Life and Portal. I'm hoping to upload it in a couple weeks!
have y'all thought about this but maybe the cut enemy the combine assassin are probably or well most likely the black ops female assassin
Hay skyrionn here's a video idea make a lore video on sheckly and Griggs from hl2 e2? Their my favorite rebel's.
I could take a look in to them
So eliminate witnesses
But few units already evacuated?
Well idk, they could blow up the ospreys
