My dad once told me a story about his old college. Apparently it was a tradition for students on their last day to pull a prank. One year, someone sprayed fertiliser in the shape of a dong on the grass outside the college. Even when cut, the fertiliser limited the types of grass that grew, causing a colour change, and even affected the growth for many years. When viewed from above, on Google maps/other satellite images, the college had a dong in its field.

If you'd like a satisfying cleaning game, I recommend "Viscera clean-up detail", it's a bit gory and the physics is sometimes wonky but so satisfying when you finish an area, it even keeps track of your footprints, how dirty your implements and the water are. I'd love to see you give it a spin.
One of my first jobs had me out on a 54" front deck zero turn Toro mower. The same pedal controlled both forward and backward depending on whether you pushed on the top or bottom. I hadn't learned to drive yet. It was actually way more intuitive than a separate gas and brake pedal.
@@RealCivilEngineerGaming I actually saw a study once where they tried it in cars and they said the reaction time was better, but only when you compared two groups of people that hadn't already learned the 'normal' way. If they'd done it from the start of cars it would have been better, but the relearning curve is so steep that trying to switch would cause chaos. :)

Interesting Note: "Strimmers" here in the Midwest US are more often referred to as "weed-whackers". Though, now that I think about it, every time I've ever used one I've only ever been "whacking" the grass along the edges of flowerbeds or sidewalks. Never actually whacked any weeds with it, at least not intentionally. It's also does a serious number on the bottom 2-3 inches of our wood fence over time. I've been tempted to invest in an edger (which is like a strimmer, except the cable spins vertically, perpendicular to the ground), but the fence is so old and the bottoms so mangled it's scarcely worth investing in until the planks have been replaced.
Not enough shafts on this one, but the one we got was pretty big. The amounts of "this is so satisfying" was on point, really satisfying. Once again, a solid Boosh/10. Cheers!

5-7 cm is a pretty normal maintained cut height for rotary deck mowers. Reel mowers tend to be used when you want a shorter cut maintained. A lot of residential lawns aren't graded flat enough to do a nice looking 2-3 cm cut.

Don’t always need a drum for stripes- I can kinda stripe the lawn with my Husqvarna push mower; might be thanks to a little rubber flap on the back under the grass bag cover
Strimmer is a new 1 I just called it a weed wacker. Growing up when they were cheaply made and broke constantly we used to them to hack weeds and grass that was hard to get to by the mower. Eventually they came out with a specific trimmer for grass that rolls on the floor and gotta say it’s pretty satisfying to watch
I mow my grandparents lawn sometimes and I'm a 13 year old string bean so we have to put a bag of shot on the seat with me😆 also, they have a mower similar to that one and the reason it makes those lines is because of the tires pressing down the grass (it pops back up anyway)

I had a summerjob cutting lawns. The lawn wasn't checked properly before the job. The lawnmower found a metal chunk while cutting and bent the arm holding the blade. xD
Not sure why you say doing stripes doesn't matter. Been using a normal push mower for year and making stripes with it. You can totally see the difference between two stripes, though I do agree it is LESS noticeable than the movers with rollers.
14:30 Imagine that, but I work as an Agricultural Engineer, and Tractor Driver, you have a four cylinder 4 stroke 4,75 L Russian diesel ahead of you, and 3 meters of grass mover behind you on the side(so you don't drive over the grass with several tons of steel), the sun shines in the cab, and you almost get roasted of the heat, you have a bottle of part frozen water in the cab on the toolbox, with all the doors and windows open for air conditioning. And you do this for about 12 hours a day. I love doing it.
As a programmer, those tasks make me tear my hair out. If much rather solve an interesting or challenging problem than do the menial crap over and over.
Strimmers are called Weed Wackers because the person who made them calls them Weed Wackers and they are used for not only doing the siding, it they are also used for getting the hard to reach areas like the area over my sewer storage
stihl has some nice 4 stroke model trimmers that r really quiet, i like them because not only because theyre quiet but the heads geared up so it spins faster n with the extra torque of the 4 stroke it cuts like butter with low rpm u can get alot done n keep it lookin real good with one of those, iv actually never seen those grass scissor tools lol that looks like it might take a little while

I don't know why I feel compelled to write this. But I think I've been sucked into your love of detail. In answer to "9p engine repairs, what could you possibly fix for 9p?" I've decided that one of the washers split when you hit the cars and you had to buy a single washer to replace it.
I had a summerjob cutting lawns. The lawn wasn't checked properly before the job. The lawnmower found a metal chunk while cutting and bent the arm holding the blade. xD
11:27 I was half expecting a Manscaped sponsor plug.
I am vicariously watching someone else vicariously mowing grass for fun.
Came for the bridges and stayed for the lawn advice....so true
I have 2 sets of edge trimmers I inherited in my shed and I had no idea what they were for. I do use the half moon edging knife though.
Not sure why you say doing stripes doesn't matter. Been using a normal push mower for year and making stripes with it. You can totally see the difference between two stripes, though I do agree it is LESS noticeable than the movers with rollers.
I like how you reinforce the stereotype of the englishman that loves his lawn to the extend of recreational simulating it!
Came for bridges, stayed for the lawn advice is so accurate
14:30 Imagine that, but I work as an Agricultural Engineer, and Tractor Driver, you have a four cylinder 4 stroke 4,75 L Russian diesel ahead of you, and 3 meters of grass mover behind you on the side(so you don't drive over the grass with several tons of steel), the sun shines in the cab, and you almost get roasted of the heat, you have a bottle of part frozen water in the cab on the toolbox, with all the doors and windows open for air conditioning.
And you do this for about 12 hours a day.
I love doing it.
I do believe your statement on how satisfying this is, is true. It is more satisfying when you play yourself.
As a programmer, I find that menial tasks are very relaxing because they don't make you think. Probably why this game is so enjoyable for you.
As a programmer, those tasks make me tear my hair out. If much rather solve an interesting or challenging problem than do the menial crap over and over.
@@forbiddenera Have you gone through a few burnouts yet? I tended to start enjoying these kind of things after having a few
never herd it called a strimmer, in the states we call it a weed-eater, weed-whacker, or just a trimmer
Literally I did though, I came for the bridges but I'm now only here because I love listening to your stream of consciousness
You could try Viscera Cleanup Detail for some more fun cleanup.
Strimmers are called Weed Wackers because the person who made them calls them Weed Wackers and they are used for not only doing the siding, it they are also used for getting the hard to reach areas like the area over my sewer storage
I legitimately got lawn advice that will help me care for my new lawn. Thank you! haha!
"oh the big boys" as he stares at the exact mower I drove at my local parks and rec...
stihl has some nice 4 stroke model trimmers that r really quiet, i like them because not only because theyre quiet but the heads geared up so it spins faster n with the extra torque of the 4 stroke it cuts like butter with low rpm u can get alot done n keep it lookin real good with one of those, iv actually never seen those grass scissor tools lol that looks like it might take a little while
I love the life stories man, you're so passionate and just a great guy, keep it up
As a former landscape gardening student, I can say that this is very accurate.
