Eh. People who actually study these parasites generally regard this whole "zombification" narrative as a product of media sensationalization. Yeah, they alter behavior of their hosts, but no, they don't puppeteer them around like marionettes. The changes in behavior are specific and limited.

I played the game and knew what was gonna go down with Sarah but it had me crying waay before it happened 😭

@@CheGuevara-uf4pm Games are a lot like books, comics and cartoons. What works for those usually won't work for live action. You people use this motion capture excuse to its death but in the end TLoU part 1 and 2 are just games. Games that remind us, being what they are they are allowed to break away from actual reality. That games shouldn't be attempting to copy real life. Realism, feelings, art, social interaction can't be transferred completely to a digital format and some of them should be exclusive to real life. Digital art, acting, directing in TLoU embraces this approach. All the right things as are strong as it gets to carry the emotions they want us to feel despite it being just a game. 3D models doing planned actions, normal acting wouldn't cut it here. In the show on the other hand the acting range is expanded. You have a complex living body to work with. From my experience. That particular scene hit harder because of how simplified it was. You don't expect a solider to elaborate with his commanding officer. His job is to follow orders and that's what he does. They way how Joel gets quieter and quieter trying to help Sarah ain't the result of him not caring but the opposite, he is gradually running out of hope for saving her. The team behind the series are to be commended for not straying too far from the source material while not completely copying it.
It’s literally exactly same line for line scene by scene almost, it gotta 99 on RT I’ve only seen that a couple times so stick to the original source writers of anything that I care about

The fungus is how it spreads so fast. In the game, they had spores spreading through the air. The opening segment works almost similar to the opening scene of I Am Legend only it was done without shoving it in your face like I Am Legend did.
They should of had the spores in it , would of been waaaay scarier, but this shits real so we’ll all be tripping shrooms in a few years lol
@@buddymodolo124 The spores are much harder to contain "IRL" than in the game. They would also be wearing masks constantly. So i get why the creators of the show ditched the spore idea

When they find the one in the dark all covered in fungi that is why Joel says "This one is finished". At that stage they put out spores that when breathed in turn you, but by This one is finished he meant that the process was done, it was no longer spreading spores in its matured state.

The Cordyceps is a real fungus that does everything in the intro. To insects. They have not jumped to humans. Yet.
What i didn't catch the first time around. When the scientist guy was talking & it pans to the audience notice how none of them are moving or reacting like they themselves are infected in some way. Mindless beings. It was kinda eerie.
You'd expect that experiencing this blind would be the better experience, but man, even when I already knew, I bawled like a damn baby
That scene at the end was epiiic... That felt so much like PTSD . But the very last scene stole the show imo.. the music the lightning the clicker sound the damn rain .... It literally in 4 seconds just said this show will destroy you.set the tone to perfection.. I loved it... Superb reaction to ep one ... Picked up on a lot of things that are easily missable... Hope this series is a success for ya two legends xx
i remember first playing this game when i was 13 and having a full on panic attack when i heard that the fungus they’re talking about is actually real. the last of us has got to be on my top 5 favorite video games ever! so excited to see you guys react to the show and i do recommend you guys play the game. they changed a couple of things so far so it would be nice to hear your thoughts on that. the second game is so so so good as well. definitely a gut wrenching series.

Its so weird to see Jonathan from the Mummy being so Old now… Geez!… We need a new one! This is looking to be the Greatest Adaptation of a Game so far and I’m down with it! Felt like I was playing without my Controller! BTW the score is the score from the Game! One last thing. The Woman playing Marlene voiced Marlene in the Last of Us Game.

I'm so glad to see a video game adaption actually put its heart and soul into the show, because that rarely happens nowadays. This is probably the most accurate representation of the original game I've ever seen. (Also love the added lore!)
I love how they got the director of the game (Neil Druckmann) into this show because it would not be as good as it is. They also have the OG actors of the game such as Troy Baker as Joel and Ashley Johnson as Ellie so keep an eye out on them! Merle Dandridge is reprising her role as Marlene and it absolutely suits her!
PS, the composer is Gustavo Santaolalla, he also worked on the game's composition!

When Pedro Pascal walked from the rain…..yeah he’s Daddy Joel. 🥵 Also this episode was perfect and every actor killed it. Fantastic casting choices. They embodied each character beautifully. I’m so glad Bella proved all those nasty scumbags wrong. She’s a great Ellie.
I stayed away from any marketing, having only seen the game second-hand YEARS AGO, and wanting to experience the show with no hype.. however I was still skeptical about Ellie’s actress, I wouldn’t call it being a scumbag, it’s such a hard role to fill, and game adaptations are notoriously horrible, I don’t think it was a diss on the actress as much as concern about the casting choice as a whole.
That being said, I just like to bring the other side of the perspective to the table, I’m very glad she did great, the show was amazing and I’m happy to have roped my dad into it, who knows nothing about games.

Just gotta say, the guy at the beginning, the epidemiologist, if you were saying he clearly didn't know and that he was delusional I have to clarify something. He is not delusional about mankind always winning, whether we create a vaccine or treatment/medication or the more morbid way where the virus kills most of us, we will survive and come out on top. Just by the nature of how fast we can adapt medicines or treatments or by the nature of viral outbreaks where eventually it would kill enough of us that it cant transmit itself across the distances that could sustain its spread. Even with the black death being carried on rats and fleas, it's spread killed 30-60% of the population of Europe in a time when it was basically 100% fatal if you caught it. It reduced the world population by roughly 50 million people at a time when the world population was 500 mil. Even with transmission being way easier with how many biomes interact with our advancements in travel and shipping with how people adapt it would never truly get all of us. So as smug as it sounds he is right. It makes sense with him being an epidemiologist whose whole area of study is in viruses and vaccines, and what he said about fungi having no vaccine is true as well, if something like this happened where there would truly be absolutely no way to adapt outside of the very few that might pop up with wiring or brain chemistry that makes them immune (if that's even possible) we would truly be fucked. While the very real cordyceps fungi can't make the jump to humans, it was very well done to tie the climate change warming the planet to the fungi adapting to higher temperature hosts. Nature will always adapt, usually through mass extinction.

This is one of the best video games I’ve ever played, and the music is directly pulled from the game. Also fyi the intro about the Ant being infected by the Fungi is real. There’s real fungus that control hosts.

Two fun facts. Marlene’s voice actor from the game is her actress in the show. Plus the director stated they are ignoring the spores/masks to no detract from the acting. Not sure about the choice.

I actually have my doubts 😅☺️ but after wacthing the first episode I was absolutely and positivity hooked and not disappointed due to the narrative, performance's, screenplay, cinematography, visuals, sound designs, musical score, emotional resonance, action sequences, and characterization was spectacular and phenomenal. The Last Of Us is definitely and completely going to be one of the greatest, mind-blowing, exciting, and thrilling live video game adaptation tv shows of all time I guarantee it.😍😎👍😏💯

I didn't even know about the game till after I watched a couple episodes. I did not think they were going to kill her off.
First of all, every movie has their own version of what zombies are. For example, World War Z vs Walking Dead.
How do you know you aren’t infected when you just met a stranger especially when covered in blood?
How do they spread the infection? Is the virus only limited to physical contact like bite, scratches or blood? Or is it an airborne virus? No one knows which explains why the soldier is wearing a gas mask to protect himself from any toxic/disease that you may inhale. Chances are that it can incubate in a host without you knowing. You know… delayed reaction & you’re the carrier to spread unto others. There are no vaccines to cure the infection & no detection equipment yet to verify if you’re an infected or not especially during the start of the outbreak when no one knows about it.
Why will the soldier shoot civilians without question? For various reasons. In this case, after evaluating the situation.
1. Is the soldier thinking for his safety or for other’s safety? Will you take that chance of leaving them be only to risk spreading to millions? Like save 2 lives only to risk millions. Again, how do you know? Are you a Scientist or Medical Doctor? Not exactly specialized in knowing how they work & certainly not his field of expertise. He said “Sorry” meaning he means it. Why say that after he shot them? Even the tone of his voice is the guilt. Living with that kind of choice is tough. He didn’t ask for this but he made his choice for the greater good aside from just containment orders.
2. Not everyone is truthful. Civilians could be lying just for their own sake & again risk millions of lives. The selfishness of people doing whatever it takes to survive. For example, COVID-19 I heard people avoiding to be detected cuz they know they’re showing symptoms that their positive. Get on a ship or whatever transportation you can find & end up spreading the infection. Coughing, touching, etc. Feel bad knowing that kids end up getting from those kind of people. However, it’s understandable when it comes to your instinct of fear making decisions. Allowing fear to dictate our choices is not always something you realize right away. Imagine you can’t see your family and friends just cuz somebody on board unchecked is on the same boat or airplane with you. Thinking how you got it is sometimes really someone near you that got you into that situation in the first place.
