    As far as gameplay and story, I agree they both just get the job done. But the real powerhouse of Pacific Drive is the vibe! Holy shit the incredible vibes! 😄
    When youre driving down a mountain road at night in the rain with one working headlight whilst trying to not go over a cliff ledge. The wipers and radio are both on, the song is that forty five six six six one, and the driver door keeps randomly opening because of some quirk.
    It's all phenomenal!
    I swear most of the "zone type" games out there do Vibe really well.

      Oh man, you know, I kind of forgot to describe the atmosphere and how well its done in this game, damn, that's my bad, I 100% agree with you in that this game really nails the atmosphere of what its like being in a hostile environment trying to outright kill you, the balance between the peace and harshness of the environments is so well done. Thanks for your input! I hope to get more of it in my following videos :)

    I definitely agree that the ending was really anticlimactic. The buildup was so intense and amazing and the TV Anomaly sequence was so interesting. The implications that the Instability of the Exclusion Zone being able to not only prove that there's an afterlife, but also be able to directly interact with it was really cool! And then it just... ends. No more context. "Thats it, story over, draw curtains, roll credits, get the hell out of my theatre!" Ironwood kinda dropped the ball on the ending, but the gameplay mechanics are all really cool.
    Also, credit where credit is due: The way that the whole "The car is a Remnant, and it's going to make you obsess over it until it eventually drives you mad." mechanic plays out is incredible. The game never directly implies that you're actively going crazy, but the game mechanics loosely manipulate you, the player, to start obsessing over the car yourself. You *NEED* to upgrade and maintain the car in order to be able to survive in the Zone. You NEED to keep the car in good shape, because that car is your lifeline. You will DIE without that car. Really good attention to detail on that front.

    Nice review. Great that your favorite songs are different than mine! I agree with @professorpenguin6042 about the vibe/atmosphere. I would just add that it is surprisingly spooky without any violence. The anomalies with AI may seem violent, but they're not as bad as being expected to do what Oppy says after she says that she doesn't care if you live or die! Then again, I had really poor timing about driving at night.
    edit: nice art direction too

    To be fair, early on in the game it's made pretty clear that, unless the remnant issue is fixed, the protagonist will eventually go insane and die. So that's their motivation to go along with the plot.
    That being said, yeah. The ending is rather anticlimatic for what is otherwise a pretty great game.

      @THIRT33N  2 дня назад +1

      @@FeCyrineu yeah, I remember that but what I was alluding to is the fact that the protagonist just gets thrown by the wayside and that experience gets more and more aggregious as the game goes on, the cherry on top was the ending, lmao.

    great video review unlike those summarizing video that disguise themselves as review. I do have some irk with the transition from one segment to others but otherwise it is great.

      Thanks for the input, I'm still in the middle of discovering or forging the style of this series, so there are some rough patches though I do think I may have found the style I'm looking for in my next release of "WTH is"

    In regards to not being able to leave the zone you really can't seeing as the outer wall is the one with the most maintenance recently done on it and not likely going to fall apart anytime soon seeing as the player got sucked through some random portal that was just so happened to start breaking through but there was no way back through it and the gameplay seems to take place over many in-game months meaning The driver gets attached to the people that he just hears over the radio because he has no one else even if he can't talk to them in that situation you also really don't have a choice but to do what they say because it's either do what they say or do your own thing and not get anywhere and have that remnant continue to take over your mind eventually attempting to get you to the well something I'm now wondering though is what if you go back to the area where you first entered the after the game is done sorry this was so long

      I guess that's one way to view the game, I was more or less basing my assessments on what the game is telling me and making me experience. So I didn't really go towards the path of interpreting what the surroundings inside the zone would tell me as a player aside from the surface level interpretation. At the same time I don't really go into the habit of inferring what the protagonist would think unless the game alluded to it or explicitly said it. Though thank you for your input.
