16:10 - The AI cheats. Watch an enemy ship fire a burst laser: each shot is aimed at a different room. You fire a burst laser: can only pick one room to focus those shots on. I wouldn't be surprised if the enemy got to target where their drones shot as well.
I actually talk about this in one of my videos, don't remember which one. Some people replied they think that's actually BETTER, since if you're weapons got hit 3 times instead of once, it would be worse for the player. I'm not sure which is worse, but it IS annoying the AI can do something the player is prohibited from doing.
@@rand118 Probably for flow and simplicity of gameplay in the players' case. And for user experience in the case of the enemy - if they targeted well this game would be insanely hard to play.

If your signal is weak the battery will drain fast, trying to constantly ping for service. My friend drove once a week through the country, and his phone uncharacteristically dies every time. I told him to put it in airplane mode, and it was good the whole way.

There should be a special ending and achievement in this game for killing all the members on the flagship, stealing it, and commandeering it for the Federation forces. That whole auto-pilot malarky it pulls if you kill everyone off is BS.
Hah, yeah, one of the most common mechanics people have mentioned while I stream is wishing you could board enemy ships and steal them. That would have required a lot of work on the Dev's side and is something I'm sure they never planned on happening, so sadly it can't be done. I'm sure the auto-pilot boss thing is just a way to make it so that boarding is not the easiest, end-all strategy people use the beat the boss every run.
Or they could just give you a simple choice, every time you kill a crew, whether you want to continue with your original ship or with the one you just defeated
I don't really see what you could do with a stolen enemy ship.. The enemy ships are too weak to be a good ship yo use for yourself and if you were able to form a fleet of ships you would be over powered and probably have too much to do to keep the gameplay funny.
Sometimes you end the battle with a ship beyond repair.

I’m convinced people don’t play Subnautica because it’s subtly a horror game. A beautiful but terrifyingly tense game. It is old but looks damn good still.
Yeah, I think the original Subnautica game may be my all-time survival game, and there is DEFINITELY horror with the Reapers lurking and other aggressive creatures that attack the player.

On this ship the Rockman would be great in engines. That room is really awkward to vent.

I'm pretty sure I have all achievements for every ship, but I specifically remember when that achievement popped up. I could only be amazed at the FTL MISS RNG....
Im not sure, but it seems like there may be a lag from when you cloak to when you actually get the extra evasion. Cause it seems I get hit way more when I cloak right before I get hit.
There is one mechanic of stealth that is not readily apparent. If your ship has shields, when the missile crosses the threshold of your shield, THAT is the moment when a dodge or hit is calculated. So if a missile crosses the threshold of your shield, THEN you cloak, if there was no "Miss" message, you'll still be hit. I will sometimes wait for a missile to cross that threshold to see if I'm hit or not before deciding to run away from the fight to avoid more damage.
The Advanced Flak and Dual lasers are awesome starter weapons which i often keep to the end of the run.
However nothing beats the Burst laser 2. I never actually managed to collect 4 of those but with this you can incapacitate an entire ship with the first volley. Very comparable to the Flak-Beam combo in terms of devastation.
managed to accomplish that in the rebel-colored kestrel variant. it was glorious.

Thanks, Rogan, I always try to play my best. I certainly made some mistakes, but just winning a shieldless run is an accomplishment I'll be happy with!
getting unlucky on 90 percent's happens all the time especially in xcom
although weirdly 3 percent's seem to land reasonably often percentages are weird
"Percentages are weird" is a statement you see all the time in xcom and FTL...not a lot of other games, in my experience, lol

Hmm, not sure if winning "hairless" is actually a challenge. In all honestly, being hairless makes me more streamlined, so I can escape and chase my enemies more effectively. Why do you think Captain Picard was so successful?

So you can trick defense and anti-drones with hacking by turning it off before it gets shot?
They shoot at where your drone is going to be, so if you depower it briefly, it's not where the enemy expected it to be and the shot misses. It works 99% of the time.

Have to say. You weren't fully cloaked when that one shot hit your engines. Think you activated too late.
Have 120% dodge still gets hit. Enemy with 35% dodge miss shot.
is dodge calculated before or after the shot is fired?
After. You can cloak after firing and have high dodge chance.
If the shields are up, it is decided when they reach the shield surface. Once the shield goes down, the remaining shots roll when they reach the center of the room they're targeting.

Nick Dumas has got the answer for you! You'll notice that I often time my cloaking RIGHT BEFORE the missile crosses the threshold of my shields. That's the latest you can cloak and get the increased dodge chance from cloaking. I didn't know the exact timing if your shields are down, so thanks for that info, Nick!

what's the payout? 90% is justifiable for certain returns imo
@@charwyrm8702 Yeah there are some cases when it's justifiable. Like if I was deadly ill and had few last days and payout is I would live then I guess I would take the chance. But I wouldn't take the chance for any material thing. And I definitely wouldn't be sure missile can't hit me :D

I stream full time (don't make much money with it yet), but my main job is as a singer in Dallas. I sing at church jobs, with choirs, with some A cappella groups, and drive for Uber and Lyft occassionally.

Lol the only videos I've seen of this game are from 1 guy who takes input from his crew in chat for what he does. So it felt super jarring seeing him just instantly choosing a decision.
Yeah, I've played this game so much, that I just kinda automatically pick the decisions that have the highest chance for positive outcomes. I interact with chat, but I usually don't take chat suggestions because chat usually wants to see me lose, get salty, or get really bad RNG, hah!

You aren't crazy, I use a mod called "better planets and backgrounds." Really cool mod that uses some pics from the hubble telescope to get these pretty backgrounds.

Well, sometimes in my "How to win..." videos there are runs that get cut short or lose, but I don't think uploading losses on youtube is worth it. Most of the youtube videos are really OP runs, part of a series, or the highlights from my stream. If you want to see losses, just come to my stream or watch the entire VoD's on twitch, hah! There's plenty of losses there!
I almost lost today though playing easy with burst lasers and the starter ship type b advanced run... 2 hp left but won..... this is my second win thus far... and both using same ship. Lost 2 crew and ejected 5 crew... if it wasn't night time right now... China would have heard my scream of victory

I can get the second shield in sector one, should I focus on weapons for sector 2 and 3? I keep ending up with bad weapons too late in the game
@@the-real-zpero Yes, on most ships, after I get 2nd shield, my next goal is improved offense. Sometimes that's boarding, sometimes hacking to support weapons, but often, it's just finding better/more weapons.

What about asteroid systems?
With no shields? Stay OUT of them, hah! That's why the stealth ships all have Long Range Scanners, so you avoid supernovas and asteroid fields.

Lol, it is super scary, preying on a universal human fear, I think. The deep ocean, the unknown depths, huge animals who see us as food, *shiver. Still, Subnautica is an awesome game and I love it!

my man doesnt understand statistics. 75 percent dodge, 2 shots. 1/16 for them both to hit. you only notice when it works againts you, completely ignoring when rng favors you. you do not have "bad rng"

Yeah...although I do occasionally mention when I have good RNG. Not nearly as often because it doesn't make me rage, but I do acknowledge it sometimes. Most often during the boss fight and we get some good dodges of missiles or the phase 3 overcharge laser volley.
With three shots at 75%: 14% chance to get hit twice (like he did) and 1.5% chance to get hit thrice. Hardly incredible odds.
