Best feature in a Pokemon game ever. God i wish they would implement a school in main series games where instead of starting off at your house, it twists it up by giving you 6 rivals and start at a school for 4 in game hours lol
I tried playing it on pc since I don’t have my ds tho and it’s so bad to use the stylus since you have to use a mouse instead of the ds stylus but the game itself is bomb I agree
shadows of almia was my shit growing up. recently bought a new one and it corrupted just before getting the yellow gem. hopefully it doesnt do that again. wish me luck
To me, Pokemon ranger isn't about spinning the styler. what made the pokemon ranger games so great is the Story and characters. ( Shadows of almia and guardian signs are better at character depth, pokemon ranger 1 is my least favourite ) You will really enjoy shadows of almia and guardian signs. I hope you finish all the games. PS. can you make a video on all 3 games after you completed them?
I was in the middle of playing Mystery Dungeon Blue Rescue team to make a video on that, but this video has been getting a lot of comments lately so I might start playing one of the other ranger games instead
Great ! then go for shadows of almia. its the best in the series. and if you enjoyed it, play guardian signs. i promise you it will be worth your time. and when you are playing ranger games, think about the story and characters and not the gameplay.
@@PaPaSea I love the mystery dungeon games I only beat the first two well red and blue I got all the dungeons even post game except for the one that starts you at level one the 2 or 3 that do that. Those are way too hard. And the second game I beat the story only. I love the ranger games too the first one seems to be the hardest I'm replaying it cause I love the way you catch pokes
I just got a hold of that game a couple days ago. I wanted to pick it up again because i remembered how much I love it when I was younger. I thought there would be more to explore and that the game would be longer, but I finished the main story in two days. Still pretty enjoyable.
Guardian Signs is insanely underrated. The writing of that game is incredible, music was insanely good. I still recommend it to anyone, because its an incredible game. Im gonna make a fucking video on it, because fuck, its so good
@@toinedonders3203 I love the story, especially the lengths Purple eyes would go to get what he wanted. It's really... Darker? Than what you'd expect. Considering that you literally get knocked out of the air with the intent from Red Eyes for you to die from hitting the water below.
A remake or a new ranger game on the Nintendo Switch would utilize the gyro scope of the joy cons really well! Though I doubt that will happen..I miss the ranger games, I played all of them :(

I use to just walk around and collect all the cool looking Pokemon so I would look cool walking around with all these big Pokemon behind me this game was one of my favorite games of all time
My favorite Ranger game was always Shadows of Almia. While Guardian Signs is a close second, this game was the second Pokemon game I even received. I still replay it when I have the time and it has aged well. ^_^
The only reason why Guardian Signs didn't age well is because of the fact you need other players to truly get the most out of the game. Good luck finding other players when you're the only person in town who plays the game.
I couldn’t get past the Slaking and Camrupt captures when I was (8?) now I did. I didn’t say mr. Mime because EVERYONE had a problem with them when they were young, Don’t lie to me. XD
That's a early level. Compared to the much later levels like Charizard or Entei that's basically nothing. I will admit when I first ever played the game I think it lagged or wasn't able to spin good with the phone or computer at the time so that level was hard but my current phone I can spin with my finger fast and beat that one easily
I love the idea of Pokemon Rangers. They’re basically the Pokémon world’s equivalent of rescue workers, people I have the deepest respect for in real life. They put themselves in the line of danger for the sake of others without regard for their own safety. The villains they fight are basically just poachers, capturing Pokémon for the use of illegal activities. One of the big reasons why Ranger is my favorite spinoff of Pokémon
Also love the implication they protect towns from wild Pokémon, maintain safe paths for people to move through and like you said take down evil teams that are a threat to wild Pokémon and settlements, from a worldbuilding point of view they add a lot to Pokémon because of course in a world full of dangerous magical creatures with freaking superpowers you’d want a force of people to protect you, so you don’t have a drowzee or a drifbloom kidnap kids or a arbok come hunting too close to a settlement or getting lost out in the woods with masses of these powerful creatures !
I absolutely ADORE Pokemon Rangers and I have played every game several times! Yes it's a quirky game, but it's a quirky game with wonderfully unique mechanics, a great story, and lovely characters! The first game is by far the hardest to play since you have to draw consecutive circles around a Pokemon to capture them, however if you really aren't a fan of that, the next two games introduces a capture gauge that makes Pokemon Capture a LOT easier! On top of that, each game has a completely different story and new looks on the Pokemon Ranger profession! The second one has you start as a student and work your way up to save the world from the "shadows of almia" , and in the third you're a legendary hero who can summon quite a few Pokemon with a "Guardian Sign" after you learn them of course. What's especially cool about the last game is that you can summon legendary Pokemon and ride around on their backs, not only to traverse areas, but as a game mechanic! These games are all super cool and if you already have them just lying around, I really do recommend giving them a fair chance!
Honestly, Ranger is probably the most enjoyable Pokemon games ever. Main Series games are absolutely phenomenal, but if you spend a lot of time on one, it gets to the point where it feels like a chore. Mystery Dungeon is also really good, but if youre skilled and know how to navigate well, its easy to speed through them. Ranger however, ive never had to grind, go to the internet for help, or speed through it because the story and the experience is just that good. EDIT: I replayed through this game before watching the video and I cleared it in 2 days because I was HOOKED. I recently bought Guardian Signs and Shadows of Almia, and I'm so ready for those to come in. Maybe i should start my channel with those games perhaps?
Not related to Pokemon Ranger, but my DS lite's screen developed a deadzone, making me unable to complete certain games, mainly games that required precision.

I find it surprising there was never a Gen 5 or Gen 6 Pokemon Ranger game back on 3DS. Maybe Nintendo felt that the game's premise was bad for the touchscreens? Still that doesn't explain why an experimental version wasn't made on Wii back in the days of Gen 5 if DS was no longer viable for Ranger games. Maybe they just felt like it wasn't popular enough?
Shadow of Almia was my first DS game ever. I got for my 6th birthday, but I didnt pay much attention back then, but I did buy one copy online last weekend (June 28). I honestly can't wait to replay this game.
I remember Pokémon Ranger 2 was the first ever Pokémon game I ever played. I got it second hand lol. I loved it so much. According to my 3ds I've spent 180 hours playing it and I regret nothing. No one else in my class had ever played it so I felt quite special cause I thought I was the only one who knew about it. 10ish years later I still come back to it.

I've always LOVED ranger, it's been my all time favorite Pokemon game since I was little. It's gameplay like you said is so unique and fresh, but beyond that it's story is interesting and fun to play through, as well as the characters being funny and creative. The music is fantastic, being catchy while also not getting tiresome after listening for a while. The entire game is truly an underrated masterpiece that has not been played enough.
The only sad thing is that, when your Styler break it, a bizarre sad theme starts to play, also your pokemon including your partner, run away, meaning that they were not your friends, but under your control.
I'm currently playing Shadows of Almia and while the gameplay is much different than the regular Pokemon games, the story is interesting Circling around a Pokemon to capture them sounds simple, but it can be quite hard, and that's what makes it fun
I love the ranger games. I recently played all of them and it made me realize that the original is harder than the two newer ones, for me at least they were.
Woah I loved these games (not as much as I love Pmd). It's a bit strange but it's also really cool. I liked the concept of a Pokemon ranger honestly. Maybe I had it easier since I wasn't that young when I played it. Gosh I remember struggling against Entei and Metagross. Or whenever I had a cool pokemon on my sides and had to use them AND GO BACK TO GRAB THEM LATER ON URGH. But fear not, just use a pokemon to run around, which was a childhood dream for a pokemon game for me tbh!! I recommend you the other two as they're honestly the best (and don't forget your manaphy at the end, which was my biggest motivation while playing it).
HOLY FRICK THIS GAME WAS IN THE LAST CORNER OF MY MEMORIES. I beat the first and second game and played them on my R4 card. The first time i ever played it, i accidently had the cheat code on to catch all pokes with 1 circle so i kinda didnt get the concept of it, but after i realised it and played it the right way i loved it!!! The second game is actually much much better (quality of life improvements). Thanks for the video and the nice memories
The thing I remember most from this game was the stupid amount of time it took to catch salamance and flygon. I spent HOURS on it and rage quit so many times.
phantom hourglass and squeak squad, while definitely not considered to be terrible, just aren't as widely regarded as most other games in their respective franchises.
Is it weird that I know the names of all the protagonist characters. There is Solana, Lunnick, Kellyn, Kelly, Ben and Summer. Ok I'm not sure about Kelly but I think it is. If someone else knows, please don't hesitate to tell me in the comments. Guardian Signs is the best one, fight me.
I LOVE Pokemon ranger. Don't hate. Plus, I played a different Pokemon ranger. Threw it away along with my Pokemon Heartgold game. Biggest mistake.Ever.😫
Man I LOVED Pokemon Ranger more than the original (I know, weird), I just enjoyed the stories so much TT It so sad that it's probably a dead spin off :\
While initially I felt Pokemon Ranger was a little bit weird for me too. It wasn't necessarily the lack of PokeBalls per say, it felt weird that you couldn't at least partner up with other Pokemon and battle with them in a different manner (So basically Pokemon trainer stuff but executed in a different way that would stay a little true to its gameplay style), and it especially threw me off that upon using them they're automatically released into the wild. Dont get me wrong though, I get the whole point of a Ranger's job is to help the Pokemon and not really be a Trainer and Master as you're just looking to keep the peace I guess you could say. But given that "Capture" is still a thing here it just felt off you couldn't establish a team of sorts on your own. (An example I would do is that you can only capture up to 6 Pokemon During a Mission, you can call it in for favors as you travel with it and you can even battle with it to a certain degree, more so as a means to assist in your quest. That way battling still holds some sway here, and you don't just make battles anti-climatic as hell when you just capture other people's Pokemon using the Styler) -I feel like a lot of what I say here is gonna feel controversial and I'm sorry
I haven't played this game in such a long time and never finished it, though I really want to now. The only things I remembered were: - Graphics and sprites were cooler than Pearl and Silver. - The gameplay was more engaging for the younger me who couldn't appreciate turn-based RPGs. - Best ear animations.
You can get it still i think you have to beat the first game and enter this code at the ranger net thing it doesnt need wifi but im not sure P8M2-9D6F-43H7
I know I'm super late to the party but pokemon ranger shadows of almia is my favorite of the bunch. They story, the jokes, the characters and their development were just perfect. I remember playing the game so much when I was around 7 or 8. Sadly that tape got broken. I'm now 13 and I recently got a new copy of the game for Christmas. Can't wait to relive the experience.
Ghost girl I’ve only played the first one so I’m not the best person to ask, but starting off with the first game in the series is usually a good idea. If you like it then you can try the others
I brought Pokemon Ranger because of the Go Rock Quads! I wish the Ranger games were referenced in the main games and characters from Pokemon Ranger games showed up!
I'm honestly surprised they never tried Pokémon Ranger on the Wii, with players wildy twirling the remote around like a Capture Styler. Then again, a setup like that would probably end with the Wii remote lodged in the TV screen, regardless of whether you used the wrist strap.
Some might say Whitney was hard. Others might argue that Ultra Necrozma was more difficult. But no challenge in the mainline games holds a candle to soloing the multiplayer mode in Guardian Signs.
I was hoping they'd announce a new ranger game in the presentation yesterday but they didn't. I don't know how it'd work on the switch but I'd still like to see it
I don't know dude, I just started my adventure in the first Ranger and I love the concept! Being a Pokemom Ranger is not about "Catch Them All" is about helping people and pokemon in need. You can ask any pokemon to help you out temporarily and is not like you can't have pokemon, those who stayed, will stay because they choosed it, not because you forced them by trapping them in a Pokeball. Idk, even I have thought "if I was a trainer in the pokemon world, I wouldn't catch the pokemon, I would ask them if they wanna come with me" based on the fact pokemon are kind of Sentient beings, I rather ask them than force them. So the idea of Rangers sounds good for me. Or I am the weird one? 😂 Edit: And Interesting, going through the coments, apparently many liked the Second and Third Ranger better. Let's see when I reach them, first I have to finish the first Ranger xd
I play through the first two years ago and just had the opportunity to finish playing Guardian Signs recently. It’s a great trilogy of games, and I think Shadows of Almia is my favorite one of the three.
Ranger is my fave pokemon series tbh. been replaying the games recently. OG ranger was weak, but it's still a lot of fun and it also has my favourite pokemon chara of all time (Aria) so it holds a special place in my heart. Almia is all around amazing tho. I haven't gotten to replaying guardian signs just yet though (I will soon, am just finishing up the Almia post game rn) but I trust I'll have as much fun with it as I did with the first two.
I would love another Game, but i guess thats unlikely - but what about an Anime or Movie?! The Main-Games always portrayed Rangers as Random's at Best and Weirdos at Worst, so i really wanna see that changed.
I personally didn't like PR I think it was because I was new to Pokemon games, and when I bought this game I expected the normal Pokemon game. I was disappointed to learn this was not the normal Pokemon game.
Honestly, I think that they need to. I know for a fact plenty of fans and people who are new to Pokémon alike would probably enjoy another one. Hell, I enjoyed it when I first got it. I did get frustrated though with a few parts in each game (escaping the ship, drapion, ENTAI!!), but the characters are probably much better in these games, and so is the storytelling than some of the newer games, like the last two at certain spots. Although, if they somehow get convinced, I’m not sure if it’ll be just as good as the originals or if some of the bad story telling aspects will kill it. Not saying it’s all bad, though. Just a few parts are rather scripted, as is such with the Pokémon games, but, let’s just say you don’t want to go after the Wooloo. You have to risk getting in trouble because of telekinesis from hop. He doesn’t even let you go to your house, for goodness sake! There are a few other things, but still.
Pokémon ranger is my game series and is the only game to beat mystery dungeon in my eyes. And only those who have shadows of almia, can say that they have a Legitimate Darkrai... because this is the ONLY game where you can get darkrai without cheating(or special events I am not aware of that happened after the kalos era)
pokemon ranger was my first pokemon game! i think i beat it but im not quite sure. i lost the cartridge, i think my old friend stole it but she doesnt even own a ds???

Gosh I remember struggling against Entei and Metagross. Or whenever I had a cool pokemon on my sides and had to use them AND GO BACK TO GRAB THEM LATER ON URGH. But fear not, just use a pokemon to run around, which was a childhood dream for a pokemon game for me tbh!!
I recommend you the other two as they're honestly the best (and don't forget your manaphy at the end, which was my biggest motivation while playing it).
Watch them make this a sequel to Detective Pikachu
I loved the ranger series I believe Nintendo really wanted to make this game to show how the touch screen works with the styler
phantom hourglass and squeak squad, while definitely not considered to be terrible, just aren't as widely regarded as most other games in their respective franchises.
Hyper7 they’re still some of the better selling games on the console
good point
Who could forget the tims Kirby comitted mass genocide for stolen cake?
I actually remember really enjoying Pokemon ranger
Pokémon Ranger Shadows of Almia was a fun game. I played it for ages when I was younger. (R.I.P my DS touch screen. )
Shadows of Almia was a great game
Guardian signs=Proto Alola Region
Pokemon Ranger >Pokemon orignal series
Be a lot better if they referenced the ranger games / their area (*which I cant remembers name*) in the mainstream games
Weird? Is being a pokemon forestal guard with a friendship-powered beyblade weird???
...sure it is. But it's so damn fun
I love Pokémon Ranger, in particular shadows of Almia ♥ (and guardian signs) !!!!
I'm a simple guy.
If I hear Cyllage City, I like.
it's one of my go to songs for my videos
Is it weird that I know the names of all the protagonist characters. There is Solana, Lunnick, Kellyn, Kelly, Ben and Summer. Ok I'm not sure about Kelly but I think it is. If someone else knows, please don't hesitate to tell me in the comments.
Guardian Signs is the best one, fight me.
Pokemon trainers: GO CHARIZARD USE FLAMETHROWER
Pokemon Rangers: LETS BEYBLAAAAAAAAAAADE
This game was soooo hard for me back then
I LOVE Pokemon ranger. Don't hate. Plus, I played a different Pokemon ranger. Threw it away along with my Pokemon Heartgold game. Biggest mistake.Ever.😫
I never said I hated the game, I liked it
I want a New pokemon ranger game ;-;
That way battling still holds some sway here, and you don't just make battles anti-climatic as hell when you just capture other people's Pokemon using the Styler)
-I feel like a lot of what I say here is gonna feel controversial and I'm sorry
The original pokemon ranger was my first pokemon game ever. I loved it, and it has the best villian team ever: Go-rock quads
Yesss dude! That one and the first Digimon was my entry to the pokemon series back in the day
The games were made and later featured in the anime, not the other way around. The anime appearances were made to promote the games.
I haven't played this game in such a long time and never finished it, though I really want to now. The only things I remembered were:
- Graphics and sprites were cooler than Pearl and Silver.
- The gameplay was more engaging for the younger me who couldn't appreciate turn-based RPGs.
- Best ear animations.
That Manaphy event still active in ranger net makes it worth the replay.
Can you still get the egg? I thought you couldn’t once the DS WiFi was shut down
You can get it still i think you have to beat the first game and enter this code at the ranger net thing it doesnt need wifi but im not sure P8M2-9D6F-43H7
Thanks!
I've never played the ranger games before but I'm buying a cartridge with all of them on it. Which do you recommend?
Ghost girl I’ve only played the first one so I’m not the best person to ask, but starting off with the first game in the series is usually a good idea. If you like it then you can try the others
I remember getting stuck somehow in Shadows of Almia, but my absolute favorite ranger game is Pokemon Ranger: Guardian Signs.
I brought Pokemon Ranger because of the Go Rock Quads! I wish the Ranger games were referenced in the main games and characters from Pokemon Ranger games showed up!
My DS has a bunch of circular scratches on it. Thanks, Pokemon Ranger!
I'm honestly surprised they never tried Pokémon Ranger on the Wii, with players wildy twirling the remote around like a Capture Styler.
Then again, a setup like that would probably end with the Wii remote lodged in the TV screen, regardless of whether you used the wrist strap.
Yeah that would have been neat. Maybe we’ll see a game on the switch like that
Well, here's hoping! #JoyconStylerBoyz
I rather draw circles around pokemons then pressing buttons
I rather touch a screen than touch buttons or draw circles
Some might say Whitney was hard. Others might argue that Ultra Necrozma was more difficult. But no challenge in the mainline games holds a candle to soloing the multiplayer mode in Guardian Signs.
All three Ranger games were absolute bangers 🔥
I was hoping they'd announce a new ranger game in the presentation yesterday but they didn't. I don't know how it'd work on the switch but I'd still like to see it
guardian signs was my CRACK as a kid
The anime exists to promote the games, Ranger included.
Edit: And Interesting, going through the coments, apparently many liked the Second and Third Ranger better. Let's see when I reach them, first I have to finish the first Ranger xd
Ayo Papasea have you tried Guardian Signs yet? Best ranger hands down, coming from someone who's played all three obsessively
Shadows Of Almia has the best story of all the games but Guardian Signs has the best gameplay like summoning legendaries felt super powerful
Can't believe I beat the game millions of times as a kid
I didn't quite like Pokémon Ranger 1... First quest and I already backed out
Edit: Guardian Signs and Shadows of Almia was lit, though!
Yea...I think you have to catch the zigzagoon and 2 Chikoritas before seeing Larrys Taillow flying around
I broke my touch screen when I was trying to capture rhydon, I was so pissed so I poked the lower screen hard
I play through the first two years ago and just had the opportunity to finish playing Guardian Signs recently. It’s a great trilogy of games, and I think Shadows of Almia is my favorite one of the three.
I can’t wait for the as Nintended guide
Pokémon ranger Guardian signs is just- it has major nostalgia. I only recently beat it though.
This was my first Pokémon game
Ranger is my fave pokemon series tbh. been replaying the games recently. OG ranger was weak, but it's still a lot of fun and it also has my favourite pokemon chara of all time (Aria) so it holds a special place in my heart. Almia is all around amazing tho. I haven't gotten to replaying guardian signs just yet though (I will soon, am just finishing up the Almia post game rn) but I trust I'll have as much fun with it as I did with the first two.
I would love another Game,
but i guess thats unlikely - but what about an Anime or Movie?!
The Main-Games always portrayed Rangers as Random's at Best and
Weirdos at Worst, so i really wanna see that changed.
I personally didn't like PR
I think it was because I was new to Pokemon games, and when I bought this game I expected the normal Pokemon game. I was disappointed to learn this was not the normal Pokemon game.
How much time does it take to beat the game ?
Adnan Fakhouri im not really sure, it’s a little different for everyone
gaurdian signs was the best, shadows of almia was too hard for child me, but gaurdian signs had such an intense story like with so many twists
Shadows of Almia was tthe best. The games scratched my touchscreen though
They had the same concept of a pokemon ranger in the pokemon ranger and the temple of the sea movie (this reply is here because of 1:41)
Pokémon ranger is my game series and is the only game to beat mystery dungeon in my eyes.
And only those who have shadows of almia, can say that they have a Legitimate Darkrai... because this is the ONLY game where you can get darkrai without cheating(or special events I am not aware of that happened after the kalos era)
I'm going for a full deck of Pokemon DS and 3DS games.
Got this one today.
pokemon ranger was my first pokemon game! i think i beat it but im not quite sure. i lost the cartridge, i think my old friend stole it but she doesnt even own a ds???
some friend then
Only the first Pokémon Ranger was the one I didn’t especially like, Shadows of Almia and Guardian Signs were amazing and hold a lot of memories for me.
though i'm a bit late to getting the game it's fun, but i wish i could at least keep the pokemon. as far as i know you can't keep them.
It did give me a manaphy years ago and did entertain me so there’s that
i loved pokemon ranger !!
They were cool games
