I dont think it is maidens best I would go with Powerslave or Piece of Mind ..even Killers or their 1st album has hidden gems in there like twilight zone, and runnin free.
I think British Steel is overrated as well. Judas Priest is my favorite metal band, but if you look at some of the albums that preceded Steel (Stained Class, Sin After Sin) and succeeded that album too (Screaming for Vengeance, Painkiller) I don't think British Steel really holds up, although it definitely has its highlights.
+Anthony Showalter you forgot hell bent for leather (or it's called killer machine in some other countries) album from 1978 and the best live album from late 70's unleashed in the east in 1979.
I agree, but Steel gets better with repeated listens. Weaker tracks like united fit when the album is put in context. Is not Painkiller or Defenders of the Faith, but it still is a killer priest album.
@Anthony Showalter: I agree with you completely. Priest has been my favorite band since the late 70's and I always thought British Steel was one of their weakest albums. However, like you said, it does have its highlights: Rapid Fire, Metal Gods and United are 3 all-time great songs. @iamjefferson: Point of Entry has the distinction of having both my favorite song by any band (Desert Plains) and my least favorite Priest song (Solar Angels) on it.
If anything, I think Screaming for Vengeance is overrated. Yes, it has some classics (Electric Eye, Another Thing Coming, Title Track), but there is also filler such as Devi's Child and Pain & Pleasure. They actually didn't have a truly complete album until Defenders of the Faith.
Empire is better musically, but Mindcrime tells a better story, and is probably more original. So if you're driving up the road, Empire is awesome. If you're sitting home alone and want some music that gets your brain working, Mindcrime is amazing.
Operation Mindcrime is the 2nd best concept album of all time, so it can't really be over-rated. Scenes From A Memory is 3rd. King Diamond's Abigail is the greatest concept album of all time.
Operation Mindcrime is a extremely overrated album. It's forgettable, very boring especially when in some sections people are just talking. It's not that good just accept it.
They’re only known for Kurt Cobain’s voice, which is very unique. He was a shitty guitar player and Dave Grohl was the best musician Nirvana by far, hence Foo Fighters. They’re a product of their time that I believe remains remembered for the handful of good songs that they wrote and Kurt’s unfortunate “Suicide” (I think we all know Love did it).
slaughtered on far beyond is probably one of Panteras heaviest songs imo. hold a special place for that album, got me back to real heavy music. after that whole grunge phase of my youth.
You got that right. Twas a great album start to finish. Really enjoyed them closing the album with planet caravan, topped off a brutal album quite nicely.
That an album like Hell Awaits (to name just one) doesn't get the recognition it deserves doesn't mean Reign in Blood is overrated, c'mon it is a masterpiece.
Operation Mindcrime is a extremely overrated album. It's forgettable, very boring especially when in some sections people are just talking. On Operation Mindcrime there are only 2 good songs and the rest is bad. It's not that good.
In Flames died after Clayman. Sure, Reroute to Remain has a couple of good songs, its a diff sound but still new and fresh. But the real In Flames died after Clayman.

Aimtofflan, the real In Flames died after Colony. Note some of the signs of nu In Flames on Clayman. It has some great songs on it but a lot of it is Colony lite
This list has many good points. "Reign in Blood" is the best-known album by Slayer but the later albums "South of Heaven" and "Seasons in the Abyss" had more beauty (with melodies) than "Reign in Blood". They just wanted to prove they could play faster than anyone else. "Show No Mercy" and "Hell Awaits" were very good albums too and had many great ideas but still the big audience haven't heard about those albums. Some of the songs of "British Steel" were made just for the radio. Although "radio-friendly" isn't equal to "poor" even in metal genre, you cannot avoid hearing how songs like "United", "Breaking the Law", and especially "Living After Midnight" sound a little bit too "poppy". In my opinion Judas Pries has many better albums: "Sad Wings of Destiny" and "Sin After Sin" for example.
100% agree, not that its a bad album or anything. It's just way more praised by all the Pantera fans and I don't think its Cowboys From Hell level of good.
Metallica's Black album, Appetite for Destruction (not quite a metal album, admittedly), Slayer's reign in blood (hurts me to admit, but we all know its true), Maiden's number of the beast (Again, hard to admit, but true) and anything by Avenged Sevenfold
+Patrick Allen Just because an album is popular, doesn't necessarily mean that it's overrated. In my opinion, Reign In Blood and Number Of The Beast deserve all the hype that they get.
ShitStacey I LOVE both of those albums. ANd they aren't INSANELY overrated. But you've gotta admit they are a little bit. Remember that overrated does not ever mean bad or second rate
To say Reign in Blood wasn't Slayer's best album, is like saying Master of Puppets wasn't Metallica's best album. That's just complete bullshit! I agree with most of the other picks, especially The Black album by Metallica which sucks total ass!
I don't know a single Pantera fan who is extremely knowledgeable about metal. Every metalhead I've ever met who really knows his or her metal is either lukewarm on Pantera or despises them, and that's a lot of metalheads.
Interesting choice for the avenged album, I would've picked hail to the king as it is extremely simplified compared to its predecessor and successor. And do you listen to any Latin metal bands? Have you heard of De la Tierra?
I definitely agree, I have Reign in Blood. But honestly I don't really hear a difference between all the songs (except Raining Blood and Angel of Death). The only Slayer album I REALLY like is Show no Mercy. Fucking awesome album.
I want to know everyone here's opinion on the big four's best album for each band. Imo Metallica- Ride the Lightening Megadeth- Rust in Piece Slayer- Reign in Blood Anthrax- Among the Living Whats your opinion?
@@AndE667 They are overrated because they are very repetitive and boring. I am not liking the songwriting that Helloween does. Also with Keeper of the Seven Keys Part 1 the only song that I cared about was Future World.
@@realenglishman580 So how does that make them "overrated"? Do you even know what that means? Also, calling an album with every song going in a different direction "repetitive"? Wtf...
Now some underrated albums by big bands: Slayer - Hell Awaits Tool - 10000 days Metallica - Desth Magnetic Black Sabbath - The Mob Rules Mastodon - Blood Mountain Dream Theater - Black Clouds & Silver Linings Opeth - My Arms, Your Hearse
Honestly, Hell Awaits is in my mind a far better record than Reign in Blood. It has more interesting riffs, better solos (through that's never saying much considering slayer and their typical solos), better atmosphere and overall a better concept.
+ARTalive01 I agree, Reign In Blood is like a compressed version of Hell Awaits. It's kinda like Slayer's version of ...and Justice for All; harder to get into because of lacking production and longer songs, but once you do, you like it just as much as Master Of Puppets, maybe even more. I also like to draw the comparison between Reign in Blood, South Of Heaven & Seasons in the Abyss to Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning & Master of Puppets, as the three albums everyone listens to.
BirdsElopeWithTheSun You pretty much got that spot on. Again, hell awaits is just more interesting as an album to me. I honestly prefer And just for all, the compositions are more interesting but I would be damned if Master of Puppets wasn't a brilliant record. Another personal favorite of mine is the record Hammerheart by Bathory. However, its quite the opposite from the reason I like Hell Awaits, its more the atmosphere and overall way that the instruments are used. Anyhow, glad to see someone who agrees with me on Hell Awaits.
ARTalive01, I think South of Heaven is overall their best. Lyrically and conceptually brilliant, great riffs, structures and sound. Seasons and Divine as good as they are based around South ideas. If only Hell had a better production...
South of Heaven is a close second to be honest because at its best its amazing while at its worst its just ok. It is a shame that Hell Awaits doesnt have better production and that would be my only criticism of the record. But hell, South of Heaven is a great record and even with the lacking tracks on the record I would still put it above Reign in Blood overall.
Pantera's Album ain't even overrated. They just constantly made good music and that album just sold a lot of cd's right way. You're right this isnt their best & that their other albums sell more.. Still maybe it was overated in 1994 for like a month
Slayer's Reign in Blood is not overrated. It's arguably the greatest thrash album of all time. I don't know if it's Slayer's best record though. South of Heaven, Seasons in the Abyss and Divine Intervention are all strong releases. Pantera's best record is also its most underrated, The Great Southern Trendkill.
It's incredibly overrated. Nearly every aspect of thrash fandom recognizes Reign in Blood as the quintessential album, when there are TONS of thrash albums I would much rather sit through. Reign is great thrash, but 29 minutes of just being fast makes it seem underachieved; yet nobody seems to care.
Don't kill me. I'm a big Dream Theater and Rush fan, but I think Scenes From a Memory and 2112 are kinda overrated. Now, 2112 the song, is fucking amazing. One of the best songs ever made, but it felt like a mistake to put it as the opener since every other song on the album is kinda average. With SFAM, I think that Images and Words and Awake are two albums that are far superior.
+The Pho Eater Yeah, I'm also a fan of both but I agree. 2112 is one of my favorite songs but the rest of the album is just ok and I love Metropolis 2 SFAM but is kinda overhyped.
I agree with Scenes From A Memory but I love 2112 all the way through so I can't agree on that one. Though that just means I get to enjoy it that much more 😁✌️
I agree on Reign In Blood. Back when I would hear it being mentioned with Master of Puppets (personally give me Justice) and Rust In Peace which made me think big songs with time changes and yea that's nothing at all that's there. I have tried a few times to listen to it but it just doesn't seem to click with me. 100 meter dash to the conclusion of its 28 minutes runtime is how I sum it up, and that line (I think it was either Cliff Burton or James Hetfield who said it) about you can only be the fastest guy around for so long also comes to mind. Angel of Death and Raining Blood, that is all.
Truth hath been told. British Steel is overrated as fuuuuuuuuuck. To me its even one of the weaker priest albums. It sounds extremely commercial. Painkiller is 10000000000 times better.
Screaming for Vengeance is overrated even more I think. It has amazing songs true, but it also has really forgettable songs like pain and pleasure and take these chains. The best Priest albums for me are Painkiller, Defenders of the Faith and Stained Class in no particular order. And to me there is only one truly bad Priest album and that is Ram it Down. Yeah the title track and Blood Red Skies is awesome but my god it is sub-par compared to other priest albums. Turbo isn't earth shatteringly great but it's very listenable poppy 80s metal and Out in the Cold is actually a great song I think
Schpida-Man 2099 I can't say that myself because 70s priest and painkiller are so different sounding beasts. It really depends on the day for me. Sometimes I prefer Stained Class, sometimes Painkiller. And I just realised how stupid I am. Of course Sad Wings of Destiny is also a pick for favorite Priest albums. It's really hard to decide a favorite from such an amazing catalog. Ps. Jugulator is underrated as hell
+swampthing94 Jugulator is a fucking fantastic album, its heaviness is very refreshing when compared to all of the upbeat songs Priest have written in the 80's.
I don't think you could justify calling Master of Puppets overrated, really. There isn't a bad song on the album, and almost all of them would have been standouts on any other album. Pretty good list though, and well explained. I like how you picked albums that "people" think are overrated, rather than albums you don't like.
I mean, In my Opinion Master Of Puppets may be the best album of all time. But I can understand why people call it overrated, I mean Ride The Lightning is Just as good, Maybe even ...And Justice For All as well. But everyone just automatically says Master Of Puppets.
WOW dude! are you alright? I didn't expect like a rant at the beginning. I think Metallica is probably overrated because there are so many fans always love them to this day. That's only in my opinion. I like Metallica but not all of their albums though. I know that I always respect Metallica because they gave us something special during the 80s.
Overrated metal albums update: Black Sabbath- Heaven and Hell, Mob Rules, 13, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath Helloween- Walls of Jericho Helloween- Keeper of the Seven Keys Part 1 and 2 Judas Priest- Painkiller, Screaming For Vengeance, Defenders of the Fate, Stained Class Queenscryche- The Warning, Rage For Order, Operation Mindcrime, Operation Live Crime, The Verdict Opeth- Blackwater Park Megadeth- Rust In Peace, Youthanasia, United Abominations, Dystopia Metallica- Hardwired to Self Destruct Metal Church- Blessing In Disguise, XI, Classic Live Cirith Ungol- Forever Black Slayer- Reign In Blood, South of Heaven
I'm very new to listening to good metal (I used to listen to slipknot and avenged sevenfold) could anyone suggest any good metalcore/ melodic death metal groups/ albums I could check out?
It doesn’t. That’s just how people use the word. It means something doesn’t deserve the hype it gets. This applies to things in media that people treat like it is the second coming of Christ, but doesn’t really do anything to change the game. Like if an entire album is praised because of 2 really good songs, but the other 7-9 tracks overlooked because they are kinda ass, it’s safe to say the album is overrated.
Alright I may be wrong that all albums people consider to be overrated are not all bad. But to me when I find an album overrated it mostly means I don’t like it and rarely listen to it. If there’s an album I like that gets a ton of praise but I don’t think it’s as good as what I think is the best, I still don’t consider it overrated because I still like it
I still like every album mentioned below, but I like their other stuff better: -_Reign in Blood_. They seemed to throw songwriting away just for the sake of playing fast. -Seventh Son of a Seventh Son_... Doesn't seem as atmospheric as _Somewhere in Time_ nor as ballsy as _Powerslave_. What's the concept about, anyways? -_The Legacy_. Most songs sound the same, yet they say it's their best album. -_Master of Puppets_. It's based off the _Ride the Lightning formula_, and strangely no one complains about the song length unlike with _...And Justice for All_. -_Rust in Peace_. Treated like the only Megadeth album that is good and some dislike their later stuff because they never put out a "_Rust in Peace II_". -_Sad Wings of Destiny_. Not sure about this one, everyone loves it but I don't get it.
I agree 100% with Reign In Blood. Would consider it the most overrated album of all time. Agree with The Legacy too, later Testament is much better and has more effective use of dynamics. Something Metallica gets overlooked for.

+MrAntichrist12 I pretty much agree with you. Black Sabbath to me is overrated. Maiden's best album is A Matter of Life and Death and I may be the only person who feels that way. The Final Frontier is trash. Their new one is even worse. Hey, I am a Maiden fan, a big one, they just don't produce.
I guess my complaint is that together again, Ozzy talks too much, and they don't have any new songs I like. I saw them when Oz was a drunk and about to be fired long ago. We had no idea why they were so bad that night. Glad you like 'em. Glad we each can choose. I liked Neo Lights, Heaven and Hell (the song, imho it is one of the classics of heavy metal), Holy Diva... Dio. I did not like Rob H.
Okay, I may have missed your point. Were you talking Maiden? If so... I love Maiden's Brave New World, Dance of Death, and A Matter of Life and Death albums. The Reincarnation of B. Breeg is, to me, their best song ever. It has that "Harris lope" I love. And the song fucking pounds. Way back, I ain't much fan, but Remember Tomorrow is an ultra cool song. Song like The Iron Maiden are too simple. To me, not to you. Run to the Hills, that stuff isn't for me. I've seen them 3 times. One thing is certain--they hammer it out for two ours. You get your moneys worth, or I sure have. Rock on, dude.

Agree about Dr. Feelgood. I'll take Shout at the Devil, Too Fast For Love or Girls, Girls, Girls over it anytime.
Saying that Empire is a better album than Operation Mindcrime must be the most stupid thing I've ever heard. Both The Warning and Rage for Order are better albums than Empire. Empire have too much filler, and the songs are way too mainstream.
I honestly really felt like vulgar display of power was far more overrated. I think Walk is the one song I never want to hear again. I feel the same way about This Love, but I at least really enjoyed This Love at one point, but never quite liked Walk.

Anthony Showalter Painkiller is my favorite
I agree about far beyond driven, I feel that The Great Southern Trend kill was much better and more classic songs
You are correct Sir
?? Great Southern Trend Kill was the worst album Pantera ever recorded, next to Power Metal or I am the night
I always thought Operation: Mindcrime was underrated. Oh well. All opinion.
Masked Jackal queensryche is underrated
Empire is better musically, but Mindcrime tells a better story, and is probably more original. So if you're driving up the road, Empire is awesome. If you're sitting home alone and want some music that gets your brain working, Mindcrime is amazing.
The Black Album can be overrated yeah but it's the best sounding analog album of all time. It sounds new every time you listen to it
I thought Hetfield's voice was at it's best.
Demon Rantz agreed
Tyron McAllister Jr It wasn't too whiny or too gravely either.
St. Anger was their best one.
Lol
Your favorite album from your favorite band is overrated.
City of Evil was on this list. Which is my favorite album
I don't think you know what "overrate" means.
My fAVOurItE AlBUm iS "iN WaR aNd pIeCEs" By MOzhoVEn jR ll
Lateralus overrated!? No way, best album of all time, How dare you bring such offending upon me sire!??!??!?!?
yep #9 unfortunately
Slayer has tried to re-create Reign in Blood evet since they wrote Reign in Blood. Stale as fuck.
I love Opeth so much... but someone had to say the truth about Blackwater Park sooner or later.
+Xao Cha Its very good but compared to the magnificient morningrise its overrated as fuuuuuuuck...
Blackwater Park is fucking great imo.
It's great but I'll take still life and mayh
Blackwater park is basically just Still Life 2. It's a good album but everything it does was done better by Still Life and My Arms Your Hearse
who the fuck is Deafheaven?? looks I am missing something...
Bartosz Sawicki saw them back at LA opening for Ghost, to me theyre like an alternative rock band with a black metal vocalist
Bartosz Sawicki I saw them. Fucking frat boys trying to be black metal. Lame.
Bartosz Sawicki they are hipster black metal .
Operation Mindcrime is the 2nd best concept album of all time, so it can't really be over-rated.
Scenes From A Memory is 3rd.
King Diamond's Abigail is the greatest concept album of all time.
llongone2 No Tommy and The Wall are far superior to all of those.
Mr. MysteriousFezGuy Abigail>
Operation Mindcrime is a extremely overrated album. It's forgettable, very boring especially when in some sections people are just talking. It's not that good just accept it.
@@realenglishman580 I agree. Rage for Order is my favorite from Queensryche.
haha nirvana way overrated
yep
Yeah........
What's the song that plays in the beginning ckn?
slaughtered on far beyond is probably one of Panteras heaviest songs imo. hold a special place for that album, got me back to real heavy music. after that whole grunge phase of my youth.
Ryan Mckay, Slaughtered and especially Use Your Third Arm have elements of death metal, likely on purpose. FBD is a genre meld
You got that right. Twas a great album start to finish. Really enjoyed them closing the album with planet caravan, topped off a brutal album quite nicely.
I don't know about you but panteras first three albums are their best they never fell off but first three are classics.
Don't forget strength beyond strength with it's hardcore influences
I agree on most of these. However, I think the great southern trendkill is the best pantera album
My favorite, then Vulgar.
what song is on background when he talks about Reign in Blood?
hey you added in the on-screen captions! thanks man:) (hopefully i influenced you on that, but im probably just dreamin big heh)
+Mohankeneh I was gonna throw on the album covers but got lazy.
lol no worries, the caption is enough. always enjoy watchin your videos, \m/
what's playing in the background?
I honestly prefer A7X's self titled album due to how experimental it was and how well it paid off as a result. I find more of the songs memorable too.
KeyrunBenjiMadhouse I agree, my favourite album of all time
KeyrunBenjiMadhouse Yes. Amazing.
I agree with you, man.
Can someone tell me the song that has been playing in the background.. Thank you :)
every gnr album imo
Yes! They were OK but they didn't innovate anything. Slash is a good guitarist but just like GNR as a whole, he innovated absolutely nothing
+lord slayer ...............especially Use Your Illusion 1 and 2. WAY too much filler among the good songs.
@Simon Barfield Axl is a hair metal singer though. Atleast to my ears he is. Can't fucking stand it.
Appetite for Destruction is one of the best rock albums of all time.
@@faust13301 Sure, if you like crap.
When someone says underrated or overrated, what they are actually saying is more people should think exactly like you do on a given subject.
Video was fun and correct until you snubbed "Operation Mindcrime". Definite classic without a doubt. Got better from there on to position one.
Eraderion
I would replace that with DT's Metropolis part 2 :Scenes from a Memory.
That an album like Hell Awaits (to name just one) doesn't get the recognition it deserves doesn't mean Reign in Blood is overrated, c'mon it is a masterpiece.
"Oh my god slayer is my favourite band ever, my favourite album is Reign In Blood and my favourite song is Raining Blood!!!!"
Those people...
what's playing in the back at the beginning?
I'm suprised that disturbeds album the sickness wasn't on this list.
I always thought that A7X self titled album was more overrated...
I agree with some of these but QUEENSRYCHE OPERATION: MINDCRIME???!! Nooooooo :'(
+Xavierrex3 it is overrated, just like number of the beast.
+ff7soldierff7 oh hell naw
Queensryche is not good
Operation Mindcrime is a extremely overrated album. It's forgettable, very boring especially when in some sections people are just talking. On Operation Mindcrime there are only 2 good songs and the rest is bad. It's not that good.
Have you heard of Into Eternity, the album Buried in Oblivion? Please let me know.
+RIP Skins yup, quite a good disc from the early 2000s
RIP Skins i fucking love that album!!!
In Flames died after Clayman. Sure, Reroute to Remain has a couple of good songs, its a diff sound but still new and fresh. But the real In Flames died after Clayman.
Meanwhile new Dark Tranquillity album is dope as fuck.
Aimtofflan, the real In Flames died after Colony. Note some of the signs of nu In Flames on Clayman. It has some great songs on it but a lot of it is Colony lite
Aimtofflan, the real In Flames died after Colony. Note some of the signs of nu In Flames on Clayman. It has some great songs on it but a lot of it is Colony lite
In Flames just needs a break. I think they need to rediscover themselves a bit.
Come Clarity is a masterpiece!
so just because an album is successful it means its overrated?
Some feathers are about to be ruffled.
I think Vulgar display of power is the most overated albums.
100% agree, not that its a bad album or anything. It's just way more praised by all the Pantera fans and I don't think its Cowboys From Hell level of good.
Controversial opinion: Number of the Beast is overrated. Powerslave, 7th Son of a 7th Son, self-titled, and Somewhere In Time are all better than it.
Yep, I do agree with that. Don’t get me wrong, I love NotB, but those albums are much better imo
Metallica's Black album, Appetite for Destruction (not quite a metal album, admittedly), Slayer's reign in blood (hurts me to admit, but we all know its true), Maiden's number of the beast (Again, hard to admit, but true) and anything by Avenged Sevenfold
Avenged sevenfold may be popular but none of their stuff is hailed as black album status in the metal community though
Not Speed Metal*
The only reason people love Reign In Blood is for Angel of Death and Raining Blood
To say Reign in Blood wasn't Slayer's best album, is like saying Master of Puppets wasn't Metallica's best album. That's just complete bullshit! I agree with most of the other picks, especially The Black album by Metallica which sucks total ass!
RTL>MoP
If you think Far Beyond Driven is overrated, you don't know shit about metal.
Reign in Blood by slayer is a great album but albums like Show No Mercy, South Of Heaven, and Seasons in the Abyss are far more superior.
My two favorites are Show No Mercy and Hell Awaits
I definitely agree, I have Reign in Blood. But honestly I don't really hear a difference between all the songs (except Raining Blood and Angel of Death). The only Slayer album I REALLY like is Show no Mercy. Fucking awesome album.
+ßub-ßißLord Rooqckusß my favorite Slayer song is on show no mercy. Can you guess it? It's one of the less obvious choices
+Nellson Stout less obvious...
Maybe Tormentor or Crionics?
+ßub-ßißLord Rooqckusß close. The Final Command
I want to know everyone here's opinion on the big four's best album for each band. Imo
Metallica- Ride the Lightening
Megadeth- Rust in Piece
Slayer- Reign in Blood
Anthrax- Among the Living
Whats your opinion?
Agree with your first two but will say South of Heaven and Spreading the Disease for the last two.
Blackwater park ???? overrated ???? The fuck? it deserves all the praise it can get
Where is Walls of Jericho ? Where is Keeper of the Seven Keys Part 1 ?
Why?
@@AndE667 They are overrated because they are very repetitive and boring. I am not liking the songwriting that Helloween does. Also with Keeper of the Seven Keys Part 1 the only song that I cared about was Future World.
@@realenglishman580 So how does that make them "overrated"? Do you even know what that means?
Also, calling an album with every song going in a different direction "repetitive"? Wtf...
the only overrated album here is The Black Album and to an extent Reign In Blood
Now some underrated albums by big bands:
Slayer - Hell Awaits
Tool - 10000 days
Metallica - Desth Magnetic
Black Sabbath - The Mob Rules
Mastodon - Blood Mountain
Dream Theater - Black Clouds & Silver Linings
Opeth - My Arms, Your Hearse
Honestly, Hell Awaits is in my mind a far better record than Reign in Blood. It has more interesting riffs, better solos (through that's never saying much considering slayer and their typical solos), better atmosphere and overall a better concept.
+ARTalive01 I agree, Reign In Blood is like a compressed version of Hell Awaits. It's kinda like Slayer's version of ...and Justice for All; harder to get into because of lacking production and longer songs, but once you do,
you like it just as much as Master Of Puppets, maybe even more.
I also like to draw the comparison between Reign in Blood, South Of Heaven & Seasons in the Abyss to Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning & Master of Puppets, as the three albums everyone listens to.
BirdsElopeWithTheSun
You pretty much got that spot on.
@@marcinlewandowski9334 I agree, South of Heaven is my favorite.
I love both Suicide Note Pt 1 and 2 but I need to be in the right mood for either one
Puppets says hello
It's incredibly overrated. Nearly every aspect of thrash fandom recognizes Reign in Blood as the quintessential album, when there are TONS of thrash albums I would much rather sit through. Reign is great thrash, but 29 minutes of just being fast makes it seem underachieved; yet nobody seems to care.
*facepalm*
Agree.
As to Pantera's best record being overrated, yes it is because the band is.
the late 60s and the early 90s were times when rock was at its darkest and most depressing, which is why those two eras are my absolute favorites
+The Pho Eater i just saw rush :3
I'm a massive fan of both, particularly Rush....I totally agree.
+The Pho Eater Yeah, I'm also a fan of both but I agree.
2112 is one of my favorite songs but the rest of the album is just ok and I love Metropolis 2 SFAM but is kinda overhyped.
+The Pho Eater literally agreed with every word you just said thats rare lol
Stained Class is better than Painkiller. Painkiller is a fantastic album, but 70's Priest is so much better.
Personal y i LOVE Falling Into Infinity by Dream Theater
I like Reign in blood.
Its a good album, its just not their best.
Bengie Macfarlane, I love Master of Puppets. However, there’s one song off of that album I didn’t enjoy as much: The Thing That Should Not Be.
@@dreamtheaterfanboy4421 Nah that song is great too just like every single song on the album. IMO
WOW dude! are you alright? I didn't expect like a rant at the beginning. I think Metallica is probably overrated because there are so many fans always love them to this day. That's only in my opinion. I like Metallica but not all of their albums though. I know that I always respect Metallica because they gave us something special during the 80s.
Overrated metal albums update:
Black Sabbath- Heaven and Hell, Mob Rules, 13, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
Helloween- Walls of Jericho
Helloween- Keeper of the Seven Keys Part 1 and 2
Judas Priest- Painkiller, Screaming For Vengeance, Defenders of the Fate, Stained Class
Queenscryche- The Warning, Rage For Order, Operation Mindcrime, Operation Live Crime, The Verdict
Opeth- Blackwater Park
Megadeth- Rust In Peace, Youthanasia, United Abominations, Dystopia
Metallica- Hardwired to Self Destruct
Metal Church- Blessing In Disguise, XI, Classic Live
Cirith Ungol- Forever Black
Slayer- Reign In Blood, South of Heaven
Vulgar Display of Power is easily the most overrated album in metal history.
Curious as to why you think that?
I agree dude, its overrated asf, and people say Pantera created groove metal, it was actually Exhorder
Vulgar is panteras best album
I'm very new to listening to good metal (I used to listen to slipknot and avenged sevenfold) could anyone suggest any good metalcore/ melodic death metal groups/ albums I could check out?
Killswitch Engage
+Bratkartoffel All Killswitch's albums. All Volbeat's. Soungarden's, all of them (I miss Audioslave).
The Black Album is totally overrated, and also total trash compared to their albums before
Amen
Emo And Proud No! They weren't thrash on that album or others later until "Death Magnetic"!
The only thing i like this album for is the song Nothing Else Matters
Since there is something called baby metal out there in music stores none of the albums you mentioned are overrated.
Overrated really just means “I don’t like it”
He said most of these albums were really great records. He just thinks they’re not as good as people say they are
Very stupid comment.
Alright I may be wrong that all albums people consider to be overrated are not all bad. But to me when I find an album overrated it mostly means I don’t like it and rarely listen to it. If there’s an album I like that gets a ton of praise but I don’t think it’s as good as what I think is the best, I still don’t consider it overrated because I still like it
Why isn't the black album 1st?
Reign in Blood overrated?
LOL
You know what? It really is.we all love reign in blood but this is not gonna change anything.
No.
I still like every album mentioned below, but I like their other stuff better:
-_Reign in Blood_.
OK guys, here is my top 10 overated albums
1.Ozzy- Blizzard of Ozz
2.BlackSabbath-Paranoid(love this album but I like SBS and Sabotage 5x more)
3.MorbidAngel-Altars of Madness
4.Darkthrone-Transilvanian Hunger
5.Exodus-Bonded by Blood
6.Emperor-In the nightside eclipse
7.Venom-Black metal
8.Motley Crue-Dr Feelgood
9.Iron Maiden-Number of the Beast
10.Slipknot-IOWA
+MrAntichrist12 I pretty much agree with you. Black Sabbath to me is overrated. Maiden's best album is A Matter of Life and Death and I may be the only person who feels that way. The Final Frontier is trash. Their new one is even worse. Hey, I am a Maiden fan, a big one, they just don't produce.
No way man, though I do agree with you about Dr Feelgood. Half of the songs rock and half of the songs blow.
I think the black album is really good, i mean my friend of misery and sad but true are just awsome
Saying that Empire is a better album than Operation Mindcrime must be the most stupid thing I've ever heard. Both The Warning and Rage for Order are better albums than Empire. Empire have too much filler, and the songs are way too mainstream.
Everything ever recorded by pantera
And justice for all
Operation mindcrime
Black album
Seventh son of a seventh son
lateralus by tool is pretty overrated even though i love that album myself
I feel like no one talks about that one. I hear about Aenima all the time.
+Brendon stacey Their weakest to me, but still very good
+Brendon stacey Wouldn't really consider Lateralus overrated, considering how amazing it is
+Nick Sikoryak I never hear people talk about one. They either only know sober or lateralus
+Nick Sikoryak I saw someone say that sober is tools only good song lol
I honestly really felt like vulgar display of power was far more overrated. I think Walk is the one song I never want to hear again. I feel the same way about This Love, but I at least really enjoyed This Love at one point, but never quite liked Walk.
A blackgaze album got mentioned here. You must really do some digging. O.o
+Kevin Goeltz I'm a pretty big blackgaze fan tbh
coverkillernation I like what I've heard. I'm into a lot of different genres. I'm a striving guitar player, so it's always good to hear a lot of stuff, it's inspirational.
coverkillernation will you be doing an underrated albums
If so u need to put in so far..so good...so what! By MEGADETH
I hope you dig Lantlos as well. One of my personal favorites. Just started listening to your videos at work, and I appreciate the open minded logical dialogue. Good shit man
Kevin Goeltz Sunbather is grossly overrated but Roads to Judah was pretty damn good
Black album is half an album and even half of that is so over played that it ends up being a quarter of an album.
Slipknot's self titled album should be on this
It's better than any other album they made. All hope is gone should be here
Indestructible by Disturbed too. I found their earlier albums much better.
The first 4 albums they dropped were cool, after Subliminal shit got weak.
Fuck no
subliminal was their third album brah
10:53 i completely agree! it's usually overshadowed by Peace Sells IMO
Anything by Shitknot
Geez, I love REIGN IN BLOOD from start to finish! Listen to it often.
Is it your belief that because some of these albums went POP in the mainstream media that they in turn become overrated? Are groups that have arena and stadium appeal better than groups that have large clubs and theater appeal?
