It would be fine if supporting Veterans was all FFDP was doing, but Ivan is clearly a warrior in his own mind. With the way he writes lyrics, you'd think he's a Vet, but the reality is that he never spent a day in uniform. He's a wannabe at best.
H3R3T1C from the standpoint of someone who is currently in the military, a fair amount of my friends also in the military LOOOVVVEEEE 5FDP. When I ask why, I almost always get the “they support the troops hurr durr” thing. Nothing about their actual music. I personally can’t stand that. The band may support the troops or whatever. That doesn’t matter to me one way or whatever. Their music is just trash. Anyway, sorry for ranting... I’m just sick of hearing people give that as a reason of why the band is “good”.
Machine Head's Bloodstone & Diamonds & Catharsis have the worst lyrics of the decade. It's so disappointing because I love The Blackening & Unto the Locust.
Bloodstone is honestly my favorite album of theirs, although Locust, Blackening and BME aren't too far behind. I don't think its lyrics were too bad. Catharsis was garbage in every way however.
Catharsis was clearly a result of a power struggle between Rob Flynn and the rest of the band. IMO what's happening in MH is exactly what happened in Queensryche and the music suffers as a result. MH is now effectively a Rob Flynn solo vehicle, it stops here for me with this band.
I still find the Device album to be ok. It just isn’t noteworthy compared to everything else Draiman’s done. Most of the other albums I knew would be somewhere, but I was not expecting Geoff Tate to top this, let alone outrank Catharsis and Lulu.
A quick note: I'll only include records from bands that I like or liked in some point of my life. So perhaps it would be more fitting this list would be called "Top 10 letdowns of the last decade". That being said here it is: 10) Megadeth - Super Collider: Don't get me wrong... Megadeth is one of my favorite bands in their genre. And perhaps that's why I'm being a bit harsh on an album that the only song that excited me a bit was way to similar to a well known Sabbath tune. Of course there's way worst music out there but SC was pretty lame regarding Megadeth's (normally pretty high) standard quality. 09) Rammstein - Rammstein: First of all this isn't a bad record per se. The problem resides in fact of me being a die hard Rammstein fan back before Sehensucht even came out. During their first 2 albums Rammstein's appeal as far as I'm concerned resided in the mix of their synthetic guitar tone (very similar to Clawfinger), Laibach like vocals, Synth Pop keys and mechanized sound. Well, with the exception of the vocal style, the band started to lose all of these traits in Mutter and Reise Reise (decent albums but far from their early two efforts) and by the time Rosenrot came out it was a shell of its formel self. Worst... they had become a corny self parody and I must admit the following album was equally bad. So when their 2019 self titled release was dubbed a huge comeback what I was given was something slightly better than their last two albums (rendering it acceptable), but falling short to Mutter and Reise Reise and being light years appart from what I consider to be proper "Rammstein". 08) In Flames - Everything the band released during this decade: Beforehand let me say that I love Reroute To Remain and Soundtrack (they're respectively my 2nd and 3rd favorite albums) as well as I pretty much dig Come Clarity and A Sense Of Porpuse. So I'm not a Swedish Death Metal elitist when it comes to In Flames. But, appart from Jesper's departure, I don't know what happened on the turning of the previous decade that triggered a spree of awfuy dull, juvenile and uninspired records that lasted ever since in this guy's catalogue. During this time I believe I've only enjoyed a handful of In Flamessongs. What a waste. The worst record between this bunch of lacklusters? Perhaps Siren Charms... although any other would be absolutely fitting. 07) Ministry - From Beer To Eternity: back when he was releasing the last chapter of the so called "Bush trilogy" (The Last Sucker) Al Jougensen stated it would be Ministry's last album. Too bad that wasn't true... because some years after Relapse was released, a pale and uninspired copy of their post Paul Barker efforts yet still featuring a couple of strong energetic tunes. The same can't be said about the following FBTE. Yes... it is still a rerun on the "Bush trilogy" formula. Yes it is completely devoid of porpuse and repetitive as hell... and no: it does not feature a single stand out moment. I can understant the "return" with Amerikkkant. To begin with the band revisited some sludgy noisescapes they haven't dwelled in since the 90's, varying the band's sound approach for the first time since Barker left . Then one must agree Donald Trump is a delightful theme to write about (either you love him or hate him). But that was not the case of FBTE... a complete and unjustifiable nullity. 06) Danzig - Everything the band released after Deth Red Sabaoth: Long are the golden days of Danzig 1 to 4. Hell... even long gone are the daring but quite enjoyable experiments of Black Aria, Blackaciddevil and Satan's Child. With the turn of the millenia all Glen had to offer us were awful records displaying a quickly eroding vocal condition. Then Deth Red Sabaoth came out to be a quite enjoyable and energetical sort of reminder of what that project was in the 90's and it seemed that the former Misfit had recovered his mojo. So what did we got in the last decade? Besides Danzig's voice getting even worst with time we were kindly presented with a compilation of awful covers and a new album that seems to be a weak B side compilation. If I had to pick the worst record between both it would be Skeletons because it fails on delivering a decent approach of any kind of what was supposed to be a tribute (at least on Black Ladden Crown Glen put the effort to compose something!). As a curiosity note Tommy Victor was involved in both Danzig and Ministry weak late efforts. Hey i'm not implying something.... just stating a fact. 05) Geoff Tate - Everything his bands released during this decade (and to a lesser degree what the other Queensryche did also): I must admit that after Q2K everything Queensryche did sounded completely devoid of interest (with perhaps the exception of a handful of passages on American Soldier). So, unlike CKN, Dedicated To Chaos, Frequency Unknown and Operation Mindcrime albums had almost the same effect on me since i believe they all suffer from the same problem: lack of musical focus. I believe Tate wants so much to reinvent the wheel and all over the place without risking too much that all he composes is feeble and hollow. The problem it's not what he writes offends my eardrums. It's the complete opposite. There's a concerning void of impact and minimal commotion when confronted with his later material. Regarding the "new" Queensryche my lack of interest is the same nevertheless due to different causes. Despite excellent performances by excellent musicians, the band is trying to match what they've done in a stellar way back in their golden period and we all know what happens in the vast majority of these situations don't we? 04) Six Feet Under - Everything the band has done during this decade: To be fair everything Barnes and the boys have done after Maximum Violence is mediocre at best. I think CKN already said everything about how SFU became Barnes' 3rd occupation after Smoking and Fishing. With that diminute time and effort in Barnes' schedule, crafting decent Death Metal becomes a hard task. Nevertheless I must stress my particular shock regarding 666 Numbers Of The Priest. SFU is well known for butchering some great tunes but this time they went too far! The blasphemy commited towards Priest and Maiden's sacred tunes is beyond grotesque. One can only pray that in the future Barnes shortens his activities stricktly to weed and fishes. .... and we're left with the podium. That alone deserves an isolated post such are the abominations I must describe.
I'm new to your channel and was bummed out to see that you are retiring from it. I just want to say thanks for your takes on the music that, obviously, you and I both really love. 👍
I’m a giant Metallica fan. I own all of their stuff, duplicates/extra cool pressings, live bootlegs, EPs, etc. except LuLu. I have never listened to LuLu in full. I just can’t get through it
@@valerierodriguez8561 the album should have been promoted as a experimental album, it's normal that if you expect a metal album you won't like it, but if someone is not expecting a metal album but a experimental one, they are still chances that person will like the album
Geoff Tate sings on a new project called Sweet Oblivion. It's the best thing he's sang on since Promised Land. The song's were written by the guitarist in vein of old Queensryche.
I’d like to also mention Temper Temper by Bullet for My Valentine as a garbage album of this decade. The lyrics were just as bad if not worse than Gravity (which is also worth a mention) and the band basically admitted that it was rushed together and was not written in the same style as the previous 3 albums. I also just found the music boring and very basic heavy metal
Scott The Probot in terms of just pure metalcore with some good lyrics, solos (unlike Gravity) and intensity, oh yeah The Poison is probably one of my top 5 best metalcore albums
@@falloutfan6649 yeah dude that shit was insane when it dropped still one of my all time favorites sadly the band never was able to top it (so far) doubtful they ever will
I honestly never considered Six Feet Under to be true death metal. It's like Deathcore-lite with a bit of Nu Metal thrown in. It's far too simplistic for me to consider it being Death Metal.
@@demonhalo67 TBH, the only reason I had any interest in checking out SFU was because Barnes used to be in Cannibal Corpse, but it didn't take long for me to give up on it. Far as I'm concerned, Cannibal Corpse is far better with Corpsegrinder at the helm than it ever was under Barnes.
@@MFKR696 I honestly dig 6 feet under albums like warpath, haunted and maximum violence. SImple, no frills, groovey riffs. The only thing death metal about them is the vocals, but i dont mind as the only death metal band i like is Dying Fetus.
Great list CKN. Some truly terrible material on there. Sad part is watching these videos makes me realise just how much I'm gonna miss you. Still hoping its only going to be a temporary break, until you get your personal issues sorted out.
I would personally not put Got Your Six on this list. In it's place, I'd put And Justice For None. It was terrible and made me completely drop the band. The only other band that had ever made music that bad before was Machine Head.
Geoff Tate is the Doug Walker of heavy metal. Queensrÿche was his Channel Awesome, Dedicated to Chaos was his To Boldly Flee, Geoff getting fired was Queensrÿche's Not So Awesome, and Frequency Unknown was his Nostalgia Critic's The Wall.
First of all i have to say thanks to CKN for introducing me to some really nice bands, i'll miss this content however what i'm not going to miss are these albums: BFMV - Gravity (i'm still recovering from this, after temper temper which was horrible in his own right venom gave me hope that i can still find quality in this band but then gravity came out and everything fell apart, get it?) Therion - Beloved Antichrist (interesting concept, as the writer attempt that i am i can apreciate the ambition but this works more on paper than it does on the ears, seriously 40 songs and i found myself enjoying about 3 at the time but now looking back... well the music video of beloved antichrist speaks for itself) Motionless in White - Disguise (Seriously, they need to grow up, when this one came out i did a retrospective on their works, since 2010 their lyrics have not improved, the apeal of this band has always been the industrial and gothic stetic and if you are a teenager you might like it but godamn those lyrics are bad, they have the potential, i mean the lead still has his voice working and the guys can obviously play but they are nor adding anything not even a decent riff, if that wasn't enough this year we had probably the best works from both FIR and NYD showing that indeed you can make this style work bringing modern music to the table, yeah it's a guilty pleasure but all of us have one and motionless just makes me feel guilty, in fact i'm gonna take a shower right now. Plus what a way to waste an artist i am familiar with the guy who draw the cover and he has much better works the potential wasted here already is shown in the cover) Dimmu Borgir - Eonian (good opening tack if it wasn't a copy of Sing from the ps2 berserk soundtrack, then you have lightbringer, seems like a banger until you remember one step closer by linkin park, then you have the single council of the wolves, it has interesting sounds however i couldn't help but notice how similar it was to Cirice by Ghost, and those are just a few i got the who knows how many more "similarities" to other songs are here to cover the lack of energy, this album feels boring but the slower style is not the problem, just look at Nightwish and Behemoth, the issue here is that they seem uninspired, there's doom metal that sounds like it has more energy than this, if you hear the first track you are done, plus is the heaviest) Asking Alexandria - From Death to Destiny (talk about an identity crisis, i'd save about 3 tracks but the album as a hole gets killed by the first track if you know the context, in regards to the sound feels like bryan adams meets metalcore and you can tell the band tries to make it work but at the end of the day the need of another vocalist was evident if they wanted to keep their sound, the rest is history, after all i'd say i learned a lot from this failure compared to the other albums on my list) I'm sure the albums listed by CKN are way worse, if they don't make my list is because i'm not going to hear them, plus when we talk about metal or rock and the subgeneres around them (aside from gravity, no one can save that garbage) there's always some kind of hope 🤷🏻♂️ but when we talk about modern pop... we can have a way bigger list
@OgiMetalHead Reading my comment now makes me realize how much of a pissed off snob i was three years ago 🤦🏻 nowadays i can say that there's really nothing fundamentally wrong with Disguise, i haven't heard it again but i remember it was well mixed unlike the first version of infamous for example, also i think the album doesn't drag which makes it an easy listen. At the time i felt like unbreakable by NYD and walking with strangers by TBM were underrated and way better so in my mind a "big" band like Motionless had to "set an example of quality" with their projects 🤦🏻 clearly that's a wrong mindset, they can do whatever they want. Their songs just didn't resonate with me anymore, Disguise didn't make that any better so i thought there was something objectively wrong with them but nah it was just me, my entire argument basically was "it's not for me" and that obviously doesn't make an album bad, there was nothing offensive either so i don't think it belongs on that list, seems unfair. The other ones are not crimes but i still feel like they were poorly realized when we consider their respective catalogs and their resources but a couple of months ago i heard some stuff that i didn't know existed when i wrote the list and not only makes me regret calling MIW cringe but it also makes me reconsider some of my choices
If you see this what are your thoughts on these three albums age of quarrel by the cro mags rock for light by the bad brains and give me convenience or give me death by the dead kennedys
Rock For Light is fucking amazing. I prefer Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables to Give Me Convenience...but Dead Kennedys were metal before metal got extreme. Cro-Mags are seminal NYHC, but I prefer Sick Of It All (Just Look Around, Built To Last), Blood For Blood, American Nightmare & Modern Life Is War.
Newer bands on the scene can't really afford a shitty release, higher profile bands like Morbid Angel, Ministry, Queensryche, In Flames and Machine Head have loyal fans who are willing to forgive a rough episode becouse of their strong back catalogues.
I love machine head and trivium one of my fav bands but MH's is still recovering from Catharsis syndrome but yeah if they made bad releases they still got a bunch awesome releases with them
the whale that ate jonah I didn’t care for it at all I listen to way better death metal but I have nothing against you liking it we all are entitled to what we like
Poor Godsmack. I attempted a song that they played in a dream of mine. It is my most watched video....lol. I'm a bedroom musician, but if you're curious, it's called Suffocate.
Additional picks: #1. Stuck Mojo: Here Come the Infidels (The MAGA version of Catharsis) #2. All That Remains: Madness (like eating ten pounds of blueberry yogurt with onions) #3. Batushka: Hospodi (betrayal, yeah, stab in the back, to quote Trent from Daria) #4. Asking Alexandria: From Death To Destiny (the endless Facebook posts that would crop up in my feed with lyrics from this album, migraine from hell is an understatement) #5. Trivium: Vengeance Falls (one of the most goddamn boring metalcore albums ever) #6. Emmure: Slave To the Game (gamecore, or game bro metal, whichever terminology you prefer) #7. Megadeth: Super Collider (had to include it somewhere, this is just cheese-o-rama) #8. Bullet For My Valentine: Gravity (Melatonin has nothing on this, paint by the numbers as it gets, although not offensive) #9. Korn: The Paradigm Shift (I don't give two fucks that the fans liked it, this album did nothing for me) #10. Chris Holmes: Shittin' Bricks (The Room of metal, essential listening and one of the worst albums ever at the same time)
Yeah Dedicated To Chaos just wasn't good, and neither was Frequency Unknown. I do agree with that being on the list along with Lulu. I would've personally thrown Battles and Siren Charms by In Flames on the list too!
Wintersun's Boring Seasons sound like something scrambled together in 2 weeks with the exceptions for lyrics and Jari's vocals. It's bloated, stretched to hell, boring and it's definitely the worst thing with Wintersun name on it. It also proved that Jari lost touch when it comes to making music. Maybe he can redeem himself in the future but for now that dude is a joke.
Five finger death punch to me at least used to be really good and once the “got your six” album came out everything after that all sounded the same and I couldn’t stand it anymore. I love the wrong side of heaven albums. They’re fantastic, but now every single death punch song is just douchey gym rat metal and it’s a shame. Even when I saw them live I was disappointed.
I strongly disagree with your number one choice. Frequency Unknown is actually not a bad album after all.I can name at least 3-5 songs that i liked off of it...
Nothing worse, or more conflicting, than a band you love releasing a bad album...but it happens. Testament's Brotherhood of the Snake is the first Testament album I can't sit through. It's so boring. I've disliked most of the latest Thrash releases from bands I liked including Exodus, Testament, Death Angel(okay I haven't heard Humanicide because I found the 2 previous albums uninteresting), and Slayer. Thank good for Kreator's God of Violence being so fucking awesome that it helped maintain some interest in thrash for me.
I hope you've heard Decision Day by Sodom. There's a new band, formed from the former guitarist & drummer from Sodom, the singer from Assassin & a guitarist from Suicidal Angel's, called Bonded coming out with their debut later this month. The singles (God Given & Je Suis Charlie) sound pretty good.
I love Sodom. They are probably one of my favorite bands. They will never reinvent the wheel, but I love Tom's vocals and they know how to write a memorable chorus, which is key with me. I have everything from Sodom except their latest ep. I am glad those guys bounced back. I thought that was a fantastic line up and the change didn't make sense to me. Oh well, Frank is back so there's that. And I loved Decision Day. I raved about it when it came out. I remember mentioning to some people that I love the drum sound, the drums actually have weight to them.
@@Gregbaltzer Yeah, the lineup change makes no sense to me either. I think they've actually downgraded. The Partisan ep is very good, but the newest ep does not sound as good, tight or inspired as Partisan or Decision Day (even with the return of Blackfyre). At least this "new" band, Bonded, sounds really good. I'm eagerly awaiting their debut.
You should check out Humanicide IMO. First DA album I've connected with in quite a while (I much prefer their early material, same with Testament). Testament lost their signature bounce when they changed from their original drummer IMO.
Holy fuck why do we gotta be such fucking elitist? Some of these songs are pretty damn relatable and that's what matters! Bands like Disturbed, Five Finger Death Punch, and Godsmack are not bad bands! They just have a different sound! Yes they are more simple than other bands but that serves a purpose. Sometimes you don't wanna overthink shit. I listen to Megadeth, Metallica, Amon Amarth, Death, and can still like these other bands
Gabe c. If it was a different band I think it would have been a generic black metal album that I would listen to once and say eh it was alright and never listen to it again but since it was a faketushka album I mean batushka album it was like taking a nice warm shower and immediately pissing yourself
Ghost has quickly become my favourite band and I only discovered them in 2019. Some people just don't appreciate good songwriting and bands more popular than their favourite
Morbid Angel’s Illud is the modern era Cold Lake. That being said Cold lake now is getting some credit as not being quite as bad as people were saying it was when it came out. I feel Illud will be the same. I can edit that album down and make a killer Morbid Angel EP. really only 4 songs are out of place. I never hated that record. I get why people do, but it’s far from the top 10 worst albums in the last 10 years for me.
I honestly don't get all the hype around Queensryche. They've never been my cup of tea in either of their iterations. Their biggest accomplishment was having one of their songs (whose name I cannot remember for the life of me) selected for Stephen King's The Stand, alongside Don't Fear the Reaper from Blue Oyster Cult. With The Stand being nothing more than a glorified right-wing Christian made-for-TV movie, this is not much of an accomplishment lol.
@@wolfgangervin2582 Maybe so, but that doesn't mean I have to like Queensryche. It's just not my thing. I get that bands like Opeth and Dream Theater and The Porcupine Tree would never have existed if not for Queensryche, but again, that doesn't mean I have to like them lol.
I've never really had a good time listening to mainstream metal lol. The way they promote their music gives me a feeling that their shit lol. P.S. listen to underground/obscure metal
Agreed. My personal nickname for Fear Inoculum is "Bridges To Nowhere". The bridges of the songs literally drone on and on and eventually drop you off in the middle of nothingness, leave you hanging for a while, then loop back around to where they started and continue to drone on... until, the song EVENTUALLY ends, and I'm left confused, wondering, "what was even the point of that song?" This experience repeats throughout the whole album, and every song sounds the same. And, NOT EVEN ONCE does Maynard share anything truly emotional or personal, he NOT ONCE belts out any of his signature explosive stanzas. He just croons throughout the entirety of the record. He barely put any effort into it, as if he was afraid, disinterested, or maybe even lost his ability to sing powerfully. Overall, it's really pathetic for an album that was 13 years in the making.
I typically do not come across albums that I hate, as I only pick up an album if I hear at least two songs that I like...but here are some bands that are responsible for making consistently terrible music: The Fever 333, Jinjer, FFDP, Godsmack, Slayer, Linkin Park, Halestorm, Shinedown
To everyone out there that's decimating 5FDP, let me say this: they're playing to sold out arenas every single night, while touring with some of the biggest bands in the world, and headlining a bunch of amazing festivals. While they're out being successful, your favorite unknown extreme metal outfit that you like because you know about them and nobody else does is playing the local club to 100 people at best and making zero money. Could Ivan's lyrics use work? Yes...oh, my word, yes. Sometimes, I'd like to challenge the dude to write something without any expletives in it. But as far as the music itself is concerned, it's fun and catchy and MEMORABLE. Unlike your favorite unknown extreme metal band which plays something and then you immediately forget about it.
Maybe I'm just getting tired of all the shit "Illud..." gets from people who didn't understand, but If they paid more attention to Trey Azagthoth's musical tastes and personal expectations (he was so much more into aggrotech, horrorcore and electronic music in general, moreso than death metal) prior to when "Illud..." came out the shock would not have been as bad. He was just trying to add what he was all about then to what he was before...it just didn't work out all that well. Worst album of theirs? Meh...not quite. At least it flirted with new ideas and concepts and wasn't a trudging borefest ala "Domination". And "Radikult' was just Evil D being gay. As he tends to be.
Seriously, you are reviewing FFDP? Just sad. I was under impression you are reviewing actual bands. Illud Divinus Insanus is still much better than Vltimas. Six Feet Under I totally agree.
@@UberKvlt OK, so you didn't like them since Black Album that's fine..understandable why some people went off them after that album. Can't understand why people still like them after "I disappear" track though, they're absolute horse shit now. Sound like a crap garage style band

A quick note: I'll only include records from bands that I like or liked in some point of my life. So perhaps it would be more fitting this list would be called "Top 10 letdowns of the last decade". That being said here it is:

10:35 I knew this was coming haha
That's why I clicked on the video. Lol
I'm new to your channel and was bummed out to see that you are retiring from it. I just want to say thanks for your takes on the music that, obviously, you and I both really love. 👍
And of course the album that introduced me to CKN is on top. Feels fitting.
Fun fact: I’ve never listened to Lu Lu.

@@valerierodriguez8561 the album should have been promoted as a experimental album, it's normal that if you expect a metal album you won't like it, but if someone is not expecting a metal album but a experimental one, they are still chances that person will like the album

RIP to godsmack...their oldschool stuff kicked ass alot
Geoff Tate sings on a new project called Sweet Oblivion. It's the best thing he's sang on since Promised Land. The song's were written by the guitarist in vein of old Queensryche.
I’d like to also mention Temper Temper by Bullet for My Valentine as a garbage album of this decade. The lyrics were just as bad if not worse than Gravity (which is also worth a mention) and the band basically admitted that it was rushed together and was not written in the same style as the previous 3 albums. I also just found the music boring and very basic heavy metal
True the poison is and always will be their best album
Scott The Probot in terms of just pure metalcore with some good lyrics, solos (unlike Gravity) and intensity, oh yeah The Poison is probably one of my top 5 best metalcore albums
@@falloutfan6649 yeah dude that shit was insane when it dropped still one of my all time favorites sadly the band never was able to top it (so far) doubtful they ever will
I'd add the self-titled album by Suicide Silence. My god, what a terrible album that was!
Teehee
Really isn’t as bad as people make it out to be, just gotta spin it a few times to get anything from it.
Jacob Flores the old suicide silence was pretty good with Mitch as lead vocalist. I'm not a fan, but I know they sounded better in the past
Jacob Flores Nah, The Cleansing and No Time To Bleed were great
Suicide silence was never good, so the bar they set for themselves wasn't very high to begin with
Damn, i wanted this man to destroy Nightmares Of The Decomposed by SFU :(
You’ll always be the funniest metal reviewer, even after retirement.
I honestly never considered Six Feet Under to be true death metal. It's like Deathcore-lite with a bit of Nu Metal thrown in. It's far too simplistic for me to consider it being Death Metal.
I agree 6FU play shit and have done since their inception. I just don't know who'd listen to them when there's so much better out there.

Thankfully, Possessed Made up for all the bad albums!

Surely the worst has to be Morbid Angel's - illud Divinum Insanus!

Catharsis by Machine Head makes that album sound amazing.
Great list CKN. Some truly terrible material on there.
Sad part is watching these videos makes me realise just how much I'm gonna miss you. Still hoping its only going to be a temporary break, until you get your personal issues sorted out.
Lulu is not a Metallica album. It's a Lou Reed album featuring Metallica.

Catharsis at #2!? I'm scared to see what #1 is 😲
AHHHHHHHHHH OF COURSE!
First of all i have to say thanks to CKN for introducing me to some really nice bands, i'll miss this content however what i'm not going to miss are these albums:
BFMV - Gravity (i'm still recovering from this, after temper temper which was horrible in his own right venom gave me hope that i can still find quality in this band but then gravity came out and everything fell apart, get it?)
Therion - Beloved Antichrist (interesting concept, as the writer attempt that i am i can apreciate the ambition but this works more on paper than it does on the ears, seriously 40 songs and i found myself enjoying about 3 at the time but now looking back... well the music video of beloved antichrist speaks for itself)
Motionless in White - Disguise (Seriously, they need to grow up, when this one came out i did a retrospective on their works, since 2010 their lyrics have not improved, the apeal of this band has always been the industrial and gothic stetic and if you are a teenager you might like it but godamn those lyrics are bad, they have the potential, i mean the lead still has his voice working and the guys can obviously play but they are nor adding anything not even a decent riff, if that wasn't enough this year we had probably the best works from both FIR and NYD showing that indeed you can make this style work bringing modern music to the table, yeah it's a guilty pleasure but all of us have one and motionless just makes me feel guilty, in fact i'm gonna take a shower right now. Plus what a way to waste an artist i am familiar with the guy who draw the cover and he has much better works the potential wasted here already is shown in the cover)
Dimmu Borgir - Eonian (good opening tack if it wasn't a copy of Sing from the ps2 berserk soundtrack, then you have lightbringer, seems like a banger until you remember one step closer by linkin park, then you have the single council of the wolves, it has interesting sounds however i couldn't help but notice how similar it was to Cirice by Ghost, and those are just a few i got the who knows how many more "similarities" to other songs are here to cover the lack of energy, this album feels boring but the slower style is not the problem, just look at Nightwish and Behemoth, the issue here is that they seem uninspired, there's doom metal that sounds like it has more energy than this, if you hear the first track you are done, plus is the heaviest)
Asking Alexandria - From Death to Destiny (talk about an identity crisis, i'd save about 3 tracks but the album as a hole gets killed by the first track if you know the context, in regards to the sound feels like bryan adams meets metalcore and you can tell the band tries to make it work but at the end of the day the need of another vocalist was evident if they wanted to keep their sound, the rest is history, after all i'd say i learned a lot from this failure compared to the other albums on my list)
I'm sure the albums listed by CKN are way worse, if they don't make my list is because i'm not going to hear them, plus when we talk about metal or rock and the subgeneres around them (aside from gravity, no one can save that garbage) there's always some kind of hope 🤷🏻♂️ but when we talk about modern pop... we can have a way bigger list
I'm guessing you stopped listening to 5FDP after GYS, cause they got so much worse after that. Their new single is on a whole new level of generic.
I'm gonna miss that energy and rage.

Funny enough The Forest Seasons is the only Wintersun album I can sit through. It's all their other albums that bore me to tears.

Illud is the worst
Morbid Angel’s Illud is the modern era Cold Lake. That being said Cold lake now is getting some credit as not being quite as bad as people were saying it was when it came out.
Operation: Mindcrime is generally considered one of the best concept albums ever put out. It also laid the groundwork for Scenes from a Memory.

Bailey Dicus it’s so shitty
Tool's Fear Inoculum easily makes this list for me. Incredibly boring.
You're incredibly boring
I typically do not come across albums that I hate, as I only pick up an album if I hear at least two songs that I like...but here are some bands that are responsible for making consistently terrible music:
The Fever 333, Jinjer, FFDP, Godsmack, Slayer, Linkin Park, Halestorm, Shinedown
I thought about that life was a great album, sounded great, very diverse and original also.
I honestly rate About That Life higher than 90% of your album of the decade list
Jack Attack Christ you are into some REALLY AWFUL SHIT. You should be embarrassed
I agree "Repentless" is the worst.
Damn... Fan since 1985, I liked Repentless!
