Woah, this is the first time I heard I am not the only one by having Trapped Under Ice (perhaps the most underrated Metallica track) and Black album rare ones among favorites. That is the good thing of being a proper music fan, when you listening a band for a long time and become tired of "most popular" songs. Then you start exploring more and sometimes discovering some that are just as good if not even better than those. Similar case is with Iron Maiden´s tracks like Sea of Madness, New Frontier, Reach Out, Chains of Misery, Dream of Mirrors, Coming Home etc.
10 ain't enough: here's 20. 1) Orion 2) Bleeding Me 3) Blackened 4) Disposable Heroes 5) The Unforgiven 6) The Four Horsemen 7) Call Of Ktulu 8) Welcome Home(Sanitarium) 9) Cyanide 10) Until It Sleeps 11) Fade To Black 12) Fixxxer 13) Suicide And Redemption/To Live Is To Die 14) For Whom The Bells Tolls 15) Master Of Puppets 16) Dyer's Eve 17) The Struggle Within 18) Broken, Beat, And Scarred 19) St. Anger 20) Outlaw Torn I wanna see this Setlist live, but now Metallica is a greatest hits band!
Yep, it sucks how all the songs they play are overrated and overplayed. I'm sick of hearing Enter Sandman and Master of Puppets. They're not bad, but I wanna hear Load, ReLoad, and Death Magnetic a bit more.
#10 ...And Justice For All #9 Battery #8 Welcome Home (Sanitarium) #7 Master of Puppets #6 The Four Horsemen #5 Eye of the Beholder #4 Seek and Destroy #3 Ride the Lightning #2 Blackened #1 One

This video is...AMAZING! I love that you say what you think about the songs and why they are good, and not just listing them! The only thing that would have made the video better is if you would had played your favourite part of every song.

Disappointed that there was nothing from Death Magnetic on here. A lot of people are on the "Sell out" bandwagon(Not saying you are), I feel like that negativity is influencing opinion of the album. I thought all of the songs were amazing; but that's my opinion, and this video is yours. We're all entitled to our own.

Their medley of Rainbow on the RJD tribute album is pretty awesome. But I agree with your opinion on the Merciful Fate medley. My favorite song by Metallica is One and after that it's Metal Militia, Trapped under ice, Frantic, Better than you, Last caress/green hell, The God that failed, Ronnie Rising, Master of Puppets and The Unnamed Feeling.
1.All nightmare long 2.Battery 3.The God That Failed 4.jump in the fire 5.Trapped under ice 6.One 7.wherever i may roam 8.Sweet Amber 9. Fuel 10. Carpe diem baby

I don't understand how you say you lose respect for Metallica for making music that you personally do not like, they make what they want so they deserve much respect whether you like it or not.
The way I look at it is when they deviate too far from what I liked, that stuff stays off my listen list. Like after Sugar Ray, Incubus and Sepultura drastically changed styles with 14:59, Morning View and Chaos AD respectively
10. Enter Sandman 9. Blackened 8. Master Of Puppets 7. The Shortest Straw 6. The God That Failed 5. One 4. Sad But True 3. For Whom The Bell Tolls 2. Creeping Death 1. The Unforgiven Roughly speaking. I could deliberate for ages on this and probably come up with a list I feel more comfortable with, but despite the soft spots I have for a dozen other songs, none of them QUITE crack the top ten in the way those guys do, personally.
felynecomrade Great list. Here's mine. Cristian Rodríguez Top 65 Metallica Songs (including instrumentals): Note: I don't consider Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth) a Metallica song so it's not on my list, it's a great bass solo but it's just Cliff and a bit of Lars, not a proper Metallica song imo. 1.) Very good list! I totally agree with taking the good songs from load and reload to just have 1 beast album, instead of all those fillers across 2 albums. They have so many great songs from the 80s era. I'm surprised there wasn't more of the thrashterpieces on the list. Still awesome list. Ride the Lightning has some of the most eargasmic guitar solos ever.
10. The Four Horsemen 9. Fuel 8. King Nothing 7. Battery 6. Fight Fire With Fire 5. Of Wolf And Man 4. Fade To Black 3. Master Of Puppets 2. Blackend 1. One

Kind of surprised at number 1, but still a good list. This REALLY takes me back though. This will probably lead into another Metallica kick for me lol, thanks! XP

Even though it isn't metal related, but think you can make a list for top 10 electronic music artists? There are tons of well known artists such as Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Depeche Mode, Aphex Twin, The Orb, etc.
Kill em all: Hit The Lights RTL: Creeping Death Master: Battery Justice: Harvester of sorrow Black:Sad But True Load: The House Jack Built Reload:2x4 St Anger: Frantic Death Magnetic: unforgiven 3
I love the St. Anger album. Change my mind. I love the title track, frantic. All within my hands, purify, and shoot me again. The rest is good too. Invisible kid is probably 6th.

Really difficult to put my favorites into a top 10 list and I know that I'll get some grief seeing as I more into the mainstream Metallica work but here are some of my favorites so far: Enter Sandman, Master of Puppets, Creeping Death, Harvester of Sorrow, Blackened, Fuel, Fade to Black, Don't Tread on Me, Of Wolf and Man, Through the Never, Sad But True, The Unforgiven, Seek and Destroy, Nothing Else Matters, Cyanide, and Broken Beat and Scarred.

I've been a Metallica fan for about 7 years now. I remember discovering them for the first time in high school, I've grown out of most of the things I did in high school but Metallica is not one of them. 5 years later I'm still a hardcore fan.

+Vishal Sheth Holy shit. It should be obvious people are still getting into Metallica, but it blew my mind when I read that. Metallica was so important to me growing up. It's awesome that people of any age are still finding the music and seeing how great it is.

Kill - The four horse men Ride - Fade to black Master - Master of puppets Justice - One Black - The god that failed Load - Ronnie ReLoad - Fuel St. Anger - St. Anger Death - The day that never comes Hardwired - All of them Best unforgiven: 1. I 2. II 3. III
What I like about Load and Reload is that although they are more in the hard rock, bluesy style, if you listen to the songs and read the lyrics they are fucking dark. As dark if not darker than most of their 80s stuff.
My list 10- ain't my bitch 9- the unforgivin 8- creeping death 7- motor breath 6- fuel 5- house that jack built 4- battery 3- welcome home 2- fade to black 1- whiplash
I'm affraid I'll have to cheat so here's my top 15 :P : 1- Blackened: The reverse intro, the breakneck tempo and sudden breaks, this is a lesson on how a record opener should sound like. Showing no flaws, this tune is 10 out of 10 from start to finish (btw... who did the guys hired to play drums on this album?) 2- Orion: Man... I refuse to explain why this masterpieceis one of my favs. come on: it's damn obvious. 3- One: Same coment as the previous song (or lack there of)... and then again I would love to know who penned the drum parts 4- Battery: In the same class as Blackned (only less elaborated), this classic speedster takes no prisoners once its intro superb crescendo gives way to a thrashing juggernaut. Top! 5- The Outlaw Torn: Now this one's something really unique. It starts by building ambience and threatens an inevitable crescendo until it finnaly unfolds into a state of the art bridge (featuring James's best singing ever ) and a mind blowing chorus. This 10 plus minute gentle giant drags you where it wants (at the speed and flow it wants to) with ease. Composing at its best. 6- Fight Fire With Fire: In contrast, FFWF is a supersonic armaggedon that leaves you without reaction or room tro breathe, except in that brief pause when James hushes "we all shall die!" only to dive in an apocalyptichal tornado again. I think this says it all. 7- Lepper Messiah: Amazing slow tempo but listening to this can be hazardous: it's like shooting penicillin in your eardrums. Yes, it's that heavy. 8- Master Of Puppets: same situation as number 2. Next! 9- Frantic: Now here's an ugly duckling. Despite the horrendous production and the annoying tin can, Frantic might as well be the angriest, most furious thing ever written by the band. Besides the "keep searching..." part, that deserved distorted powerchords to go along, this beast only exists to beat you into a pulp from start to finnish. 10- Dyers Eve: Dwelling in a more typical thrash scheme than the remainder of the album, this is Metallica showing they still have that less is more thing when it comes to encourage moshpits. 11- The Unnamed Feeling: The album that presented us with acoustic abominations such as shoot me again, the title track or all within my hands (and also the aforementioned tin can and toilet production) has another hidden gem. Both this and Frantic (in different ways) show us how this record should be like. Emotional, envolving, dark and in your face. 12- Call of Ktulu/ The Thing That Should Not Be/ Dream No More: The Lovecraft trilogy. Had to put them alltogether. While "Call" is that symphonic build up crescendo leviathan that dwarves you and leaves you in awe as it rises, "Thing"'s chugging heaviness drags you to the very depths of H.P.'s nightmares. As for "Dream" it cradles you in a 2 voice somehow radio friendly tune just to ripp your heart out in a sudden, degrading into a heavy as bricks bridge and an even heavier downtempo break before a crushing chorus. Make no Mistake: this 3 songs are superb in its own way. 13- Until It Sleeps: Another straight from the guts masterfull composition, this is a good example of how a song can be radio friendly and yet deep and meaningfull. Brilliant. 14- For Whom The Bell Tolls: Another obvious choice... 15- Suicide & Redemption: Unlike CKN I really love the Sabbath pace the guys offered on this one.

I wanna see this Setlist live, but now Metallica is a greatest hits band!
Yep, it sucks how all the songs they play are overrated and overplayed. I'm sick of hearing Enter Sandman and Master of Puppets. They're not bad, but I wanna hear Load, ReLoad, and Death Magnetic a bit more.
Also, I think Ride the Lightning and ...And Justice for All are the best.
Thank God someone understands me! I like Ride as my favorite too. Justice and Load are in second place for me.

This is a pretty good idea for a list. I may have to come up with my own top 10 in the near future. Good job.

Yeah,it's all their most popular songs, but this is my top 10,i enjoyed this songs most
I don't understand how you say you lose respect for Metallica for making music that you personally do not like, they make what they want so they deserve much respect whether you like it or not.
The way I look at it is when they deviate too far from what I liked, that stuff stays off my listen list. Like after Sugar Ray, Incubus and Sepultura drastically changed styles with 14:59, Morning View and Chaos AD respectively
I didn't realize how diverse their songs are. It makes me appreciate innovation.
10. Enter Sandman
9. Blackened
8. Master Of Puppets
7. The Shortest Straw
6. The God That Failed
5. One
4. Sad But True
3. For Whom The Bell Tolls

Roughly speaking. I could deliberate for ages on this and probably come up with a list I feel more comfortable with, but despite the soft spots I have for a dozen other songs, none of them QUITE crack the top ten in the way those guys do, personally.
felynecomrade Great list. Here's mine.
Cristian Rodríguez Top 65 Metallica Songs (including instrumentals):
Note: I don't consider Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth) a Metallica song so it's not on my list, it's a great bass solo but it's just Cliff and a bit of Lars, not a proper Metallica song imo.

Very good list!

I'm sorry but you shouldn't judge Hetfield for writing St Anger because wouldn't you feel like that after rehab ??
of course he should lmao

It's been more than a year I got into Metallica and I am still discovering songs I haven't heard and are supposed to be great.
+Vishal Sheth Holy shit. It should be obvious people are still getting into Metallica, but it blew my mind when I read that. Metallica was so important to me growing up. It's awesome that people of any age are still finding the music and seeing how great it is.

4. For Whom The Bell Tolls

9. Damage Inc.
10. Trapped Under Ice
I love Load/Reload too, but Metallica just has too many great songs.

What I like about Load and Reload is that although they are more in the hard rock, bluesy style, if you listen to the songs and read the lyrics they are fucking dark. As dark if not darker than most of their 80s stuff.
Revisit this? Updated list? Least favorites list?
My list
10- ain't my bitch
9- the unforgivin
8- creeping death

3- welcome home
2- fade to black

2:03 Well now I know what to picture in my mind whenever I need a good laugh.
I'm affraid I'll have to cheat so here's my top 15 :P :
1- Blackened: The reverse intro, the breakneck tempo and sudden breaks, this is a lesson on how a record opener should sound like. Showing no flaws, this tune is 10 out of 10 from start to finish (btw... who did the guys hired to play drums on this album?)
2- Orion: Man... I refuse to explain why this masterpieceis one of my favs. come on: it's damn obvious.
3- One: Same coment as the previous song (or lack there of)... and then again I would love to know who penned the drum parts
4- Battery: In the same class as Blackned (only less elaborated), this classic speedster takes no prisoners once its intro superb crescendo gives way to a thrashing juggernaut.
It drags you like an anchor through its nuances and ends in a majestic way.
