Yeah, dude THEY are the girls that are too much drama XD Im afab and have always been friends with mostly girls/fems. The funny thing is im a metalhead. I listen to other genres but mostly alt music whether emo goth metal or punk. And I make most of my friends through music. I hated it at school because I didnt listen to mainstream music or really like it but everyone else did and theyd joke about it or talk about celebrity things happening and I didnt get it and ended up being the "weird kid". I ended up sitting by myself and whenever I hung out with others, id try to join a conversation or talk with people and id be talked over and ignored. Having no way to relate to others doesnt make you cool and quirky. It just means its hard to make friends. And if you're an ass about it then im sure its even harder

Sad thing is the girls who are different (not on purpose) are bullied by people who want attention themselves. They need a scapegoat for all their own awkwardness. Autism makes it hard for these girls to fit in, and they're not trying to be "different" they just are. Now that's not to say some on the spectrum aren't insecure themselves, I've seen it, but a lot of them just want friends who will accept them.
The thing is, why is it their job to be nice to people who ostracize them. It seems to pressure for girls who are considered different to be nice to people who oppress them is higher than the pressure for teenage girls to be more accepting of their neurodivergent peers.

I feel like there are two types of girls society likes to deem as “pick mes” yes there are girls who will intentionally fuck people over, who go out their way to appear different and quirky but these people are LOUD and post this in videos or act this way again loud publicly for the world for attention… HOWEVER there is another type of girl just like myself growing up who were “pick me” girls BEFORE pick me was a thing but the treatment we received and the fact we were pushed out of female spaces by other little girls themselves is always overlooked. I grew up being both on the spectrum and suffering with anxiety and to this day even now as a grown adult my friends are mostly male and this is down to the way girls treated me growing up, i was seen as more alternative, weird and tomboyish and pushed out by girls leaving me with only boys to play with/befriend. then you skip to being in high school and so many girls would want my help with getting close to my male friends and acquaintances which is all fine and dandy till said male friends get girlfriends who no longer want you in the picture, now ofc we are going to be upset when this happens as these have been our PLATONIC FRIENDS all of our lives whilst you wanted nothing to do with us, which is always ignored as is the treatment of said neurodivergent girls to begin with then as an adult when you still struggle to socialise and befriend women your seen as a pick me for having mostly male friends cos girls bullied you into it to begin with. I feel that THIS reality of “pick mes” needs to be acknowledged when people quote things like “i don’t get on with girls. all my friends are boys” to drag girls down it’s like okay but you are the reason we turned out this way down to your bullying in earlier years, if little girls were most accepting to girls who were more tomboyish or different and befriended them regardless then so many girls esp neurodivergent girls wouldn’t feel like they have no place in female spaces cos i am now in my 30s and i still do not feel welcome in female dominating environments
Hey, I have autism. I dont act like that. I know it is a spectrum, I have friends who have autism too. We do not act like that. Acting how they do and purposefully putting down others is not something that should make you go "oh! they just have autism, its okay." They are the type of girls that bullied me for being "weird" and "different" when I read instead of talking and when I interacted differently that they expected.
Thiss. I have a friend that is out of place awkward type girl and girls in my class would bully her so much, I'm not even kidding. When she got paired with girls that isn't in her friend group, the girls would always laugh at those who gets paired up with her. I really don't understand why. Yeah, she acts weird than most but is that really worth bullying her over? Apparently, for those girls, YES. After a certain time it becomes so ridiculous and the pressure to perform femininity just to be seen in public is outrageous. We all have "I'm not like other girls" phase, because it turns out we aren't the braindead caricatures of girls seen in movies. We have rich inner lives, and dreams & problems that only protagonists in Hollywood movies have, so we all assume we must be weird for not being stereotypes. It's ok! We were all this cringy at one point, and we have grown past it now!
Yeah, I think a lot of people went through this phase. I honestly feel bad for some of these people(except the last one that's just wrong) because I think they feel empty of experiences or trapped by expectations and they can't do what they really want due to fear. I think it's also a result of scarcity, financially and socially.

Back when I was first dating my now husband, there was one girl who made me uncomfortable when she was around my boyfriend. She was not obviously flirty, but she had liked him before he and I had started dating.
I never worried that my boyfriend would do anything with her, but it was just comments she made that were off putting to me, like she didn’t understand that certain comments or request would no longer be appropriate.
For instance, we had a friend that was getting married. All three of us would be at the friends wedding. This girl asked if he could “save a dance for her”. Had this been the only request or comment she ever made, I would maybe have let it slide, but this was also after she had told my boyfriend that she “had a hard time seeing me with him” and asked if we could be less touchy around her.
I politely asked my bf if he would not dance with her and gave my reasoning, and he sided with me. I don’t think I was ever jealous, because I didn’t feel threatened, but it just frustrated me that I even had to deal with those comments from her. I felt it would be obvious that those things were inappropriate.

I have very few female friends, I generally find them intimidating and I get nervous. I don't know how to interact with them properly and I get embarrassed and flustered..say something dumb 🤦♀️ but I can talk to males without having an issue. I feel like it's because I'm usually seen as "one of the guys" and they don't judge me for being my weird self, I don't get as nervous.

I used to think I was "not like the other girls". I used to define myself in reaction to what was popular, I rejected designer label clothes & fashion & acted like it was a moral stance, when in fact I was broke & wearing charity shop clothes. I do think at least some of this toxicity comes from girls trying to own things they otherwise would be ashamed of.
Turns out I have ADHD, so I am, in fact, not like other girls. But I was never chasing male attention, beyond the guy I had a huge crush on.
ADHD does not make you not like other girls … there are 3 million cases a year you are not different
