The AVAPOW A28 jump starter claims to have a red FORCE START FUNCTION button so maybe they added that function after people complained this A58 would not start a car with a totally dead battery or this is an older model or the budget model from AVAPOW.

There was no force start button on this one

I have a 2000a avapow and the red button is on the part you plug into the main unit. Maybe it is a new feature…

I have the 2000 amp version.. A18 mine has a red button on the small part that has the jumper cables attached which I assume is the force start button. Just opened the box and read the book a tad.. I didn't see any red button on yours.. I've had ocassions that my small 1 and 3 amp chargers won't work to recharge a really dead battery.. I have to hook up my large 225 amp charger for a while to get something in the battery, then the smaller ones will work.. Apparently Avapow has corrected that rather large glitch..

It didn't have a red button and would NOT jump a completely dead battery. Thanks for sharing that information.

FYI, I read a comment from Avapow that if the battery is totally dead it can present a short to the jump starter and it won't work. But if you disconnect the cables from the battery and connect the Avapow to the cables themselves it will work. May be too late for you to try but may help someone else.

Thank you for the comment. Unfortunately, a jump starter that only works with the cables unhooked, or when the battery is NOT dead, serves no purpose for what we were trying to achieve.

@@andersonsgarage2334 I disagree. The vast majority of the time car batteries are not totally dead and shorted, they just have too little charge to start the car. That's the classic turn the key, dash lights come on and there's a clicking sound. It's unusual for a battery to be internally shorted and have lost all charge, which is the condition where this charger only works with the cables disconnected. Read the Amazon review comments and you'll see many users who jumped their car successfully. Of course, some jump starters do work with a totally dead battery, which I agree is better, but the one you tested does serve a useful purpose and there's a workaround for the totally dead battery problem.

Says if you hold the red button down on the box that the cables are hooked too,it'll bypass the low voltage safety.

@@darknature79 The model 2000A I have doesn't have a red button, so disconnecting the battery is the workaround when needed.

Does your jump box not have force start? Mine did. So heres the issue with that Mustang. When your battery is cooked, like its at or below 9 volts under full charge, the control unit doesnt have enough juice to run the sensor circuit. Its like trying to switch a car relay with 5v when its set for 12v. Its just not enough to get that magnet working. And one of the reasons for this is to prevent Derpy McDerpington from jumling something like a 9v battety and starting a fire. In the other direction theres a. overdraw function. If you try to jump a 7L diesle with say a 500 or 750 amp unit, it can cook the unit. Or start a fire that way too. Use the firce start button (i should have a red button...?) For that. You can run a car fully on this without even having a battery. It they have quite a few *strong* jumps stored in them. It also holds power unlike some of my other boxes. They're good units. You may have just got a dud.

What??!! It’s the best purchase I’ve ever made!! My 3000 has a red button, like everyone is saying, that you use to give power to a dead battery. Not sure why the 4000 doesn’t? I’ve jumped about 30 cars on the original charge and still half power remaining. As far as the one person saying it doesn’t charge their phone well, my iPhone 15 Pro Max charges in about an hour. They need to buy a better cord.

This one doesn't have the red button like people keep saying. So don't buy this one to jump a dead battery.
