I don't mind if you wanna go anywhere I'll take you there We can go if you wanna go anywhere I'll take you there We can go to the Chateau Marmont And dance in the hotel room We can run with the headlights on Till we got nothing to lose We have, lifting from the ground We go, never coming down I don't mind if you wanna go anywhere I'll take you there Every day the weekend, I'm tryna be your best friend Trying just to figure it out Go on and let your gun burst Living on the outskirts Trying just to figure it out Talking like a deadbeat, I just wanted you to see Everything that I could see Walking in the night sky, I'm always on your side You are really saving me We can go to the Chateau Marmont And dance in the hotel room We can go to the Chateau Marmont And dance, we got nothing to lose I don't mind if you wanna go anywhere I'll take you there We can go if you wanna go anywhere I'll take you there We had, lifting from the ground We go, never coming down I don't mind if you wanna go anywhere I'll take you there I'll take you there I'll take you there Throw me a bone Don't be scared of what you don't already know Throw me a bone Don't be scared of what you don't already know Throw me a bone Don't be scared of what you don't already know Throw me a bone Don't be scared of what you don't already know Don't go wasting your time (Don't be scared of what you don't already know) Don't go wasting your time (Don't be scared of what you don't already know) Don't go wasting your time (Don't be scared of what you don't already know) Don't go wasting your time Don't go wasting your time
Clever? How so? I don’t mean to contradict you, just wondering if I missed something. I GUESS you mean that overall, this seems a really romantic song about love, freedom and rebellion. That melody and Angus‘ lyrics are, well, what we see in the official video. But then there’s Julia’s solo, and the „throw me a bone“- part. So we got that guy who is attracted to a girl and vice versa. Probably in some kind of „White Trash“- context. And given the nature of his promises to her, she probably talked more than once about wanting to leave those „outskirts“. Thing is, spending time with him is what keeps her there („you are really saving me“), and she doesn’t really mind that he spends his weekends shooting beer cans (just my guess), but she needs him to open up („trying to be your best friend“), and wonders if it’s all worth it. When she sings „throw me a bone“, she’s asking him to give her a reason to stay with him. As in „fuck the daydreaming and posing, I want to know the real you“. When he sings that line, it’s more of a plead to her to pressure him. Also, that „Don’t be scared of what you don’t already know“- line suggests, that he’s trying to get her to have sex with him (his fake-promises about taking her to some kind of Chateau Marmont didn’t work). (Of course, this isn’t essay-worthy, not in a mere comment section.)
@@PreciousPotat Hi Nadine, it was a pleasure reading your response and interesting how differently we approach music. At the time (three years ago, three years of hearing this song of the radio/in the supermarket/etc.) I was incredibly impressed by how such a sonically simple song could be so enthralling and communicate really palpable energy. I remember it feeling really novel. So i don’t mean clever as in cryptic, because you’ve rightly pointed out that lyrically it’s quite explicit. Clever that the sound is so conversational, articulate and interesting without any need for frills whatsoever. It’s lost some of its charm now from hearing it a thousand times, but i think it’s still beautiful.
I’d be surprised if he were pre-recorded. After all, there are loads of live and unplugged versions, he just sounds like that. Mind, the microphone and whatever sound equipment is probably tuned a certain way, but that’s more akin to hitting the pedals of a piano.
There is definitely a backing track here that they are singing over. I’ve played both versions over each other and the timing is exactly the same. Never the less, it was a great performance but they are definitely using a backing track
This is live. Triple J don't allow miming besides the band did other songs in this set as well as covers and they sounded as good as this. The engineers at Triple J are among the best I've heard and I'm a trained audio engineer.
Listening to the Zenith back stage version, I'm not so sure they ARE using a backing track. Listen to that one, vocals are again freakishly on point. I think they are just that good XD
Overrated? U outta ur mind?! Like hardly anyone has heard of these people and they can actually sing thank u very much! Unlike Billie Shittish or Olivia Rodcrappa...
talent is when you can sing live and sound like the studio version
ikr
Group/Page for Angus & Julia Stone fans please feel welcome to be apart of this awesome group facebook.com/groups/320182235270903/
problem is ppl think its effects when in reality its just a bunch of guys singing together and minor effects prob but mostly not
This is mastered with a bunch of effects too, they don’t just pump the sound out the other end
Three Basses!?
What a decade we live in!
You know what they say: The rhythm is the bass and the bass is the treble ;)
In my days, we only had ONE bass, and it was Duff McKagan! Tsk, youth today! 😉
His voice sounds just like the studio version it's so soothing lol
backing vocal
cause hes miming mate

i dont think he is
David Wellmann don’t go wasted
But hers sounds like a toddler!
Their voices compliment one another so well
I love everything they create.
I don't mind if you wanna go anywhere
I'll take you there
We can go if you wanna go anywhere
I'll take you there
We can go to the Chateau Marmont
And dance in the hotel room
We can run with the headlights on
Till we got nothing to lose
We have, lifting from the ground
We go, never coming down
I don't mind if you wanna go anywhere
I'll take you there
Every day the weekend, I'm tryna be your best friend
Trying just to figure it out
Go on and let your gun burst
Living on the outskirts
Trying just to figure it out
Talking like a deadbeat, I just wanted you to see
Everything that I could see
Walking in the night sky, I'm always on your side
You are really saving me
We can go to the Chateau Marmont
And dance in the hotel room
We can go to the Chateau Marmont
And dance, we got nothing to lose
I don't mind if you wanna go anywhere
I'll take you there
We can go if you wanna go anywhere
I'll take you there
We had, lifting from the ground
We go, never coming down
I don't mind if you wanna go anywhere
I'll take you there
I'll take you there
I'll take you there
Throw me a bone
Don't be scared of what you don't already know
Throw me a bone
Don't be scared of what you don't already know
Throw me a bone
Don't be scared of what you don't already know
Throw me a bone
Don't be scared of what you don't already know
Don't go wasting your time
(Don't be scared of what you don't already know)
Don't go wasting your time
(Don't be scared of what you don't already know)
Don't go wasting your time
(Don't be scared of what you don't already know)
Don't go wasting your time
Don't go wasting your time
what a timeless materpiece
Literally like you song you never want to end.
That feeling when you sing so good that everyone on the comment section thinks it's pre-recorded.
Went to these guys live and it was absolutely phenomenal. This song live was just like the studio version as well. So talented
I think I've played this 50 times already today
I feel that. It's a great track!
51 for me
I’m still doing it 😬🤎
I feel it ❤😂
Aussie music talent at its best ❤️
they put so much heart into every track they produce, i just love them so much 😭
That was perfect, sounded exactly the same as the studio version.
I can’t stop looking up angus stone 👍🏻
best thing ive heard here in a while
Man I'm hyped to see these two live at the Royal Albert Hall next month!
This was one of my wedding songs when I walked to the isle. First dance was big jet plane.
This is my fav thing because their both playing basses 🥰
A couple of the coolest cats out there
And kittens?
this is such a clever, clever song

Talented musicuans

Mannnn Julias voice is
better than the recorded version, so much depth.

This is so soothing, even during finals
this is awesome.
¡The best! 😍
😍😍😍😍😍 Loved it!
legends
I would turn gay for that man, my lord this was excellent
I get it, like, I remain hetero for that guy. Then again, I wonder what he actually looks like without that beard and hipster coolness.
This is ridiculously good
Yum
Pelo amor de Deus quando eles vem pro Brasil???? 🇧🇷
sensacional!!!1
Mr. Jones sensational
Они превосходны
❤❤❤❤
A++!
Three basses used in this song? wow
I think im floating in space😏
Fuckn music yeah!!
I could never stand Angus and Julia stone because of that damn jet plane song but this has TOTALLY changed my mind ❤️
Astrid Chamberlain jet plane is amazing git outaaa heeeere
Well you’re not a true fan then are ya
Luke Smith nope never said I was
looks like angus is over it and julia is still having fun
lol nah he's just always baked
I wish I could grow facial hair on my cheeks like Angus 😀
Finallyy
👌👌👌
love the 2 main memebers BOTH playing base xD
Are they going to release these on Spotify? The live recordings, I mean. It's really refreshing to hear it live, I'm so used to the album versions lol
Fantastic....do they play dual bass on other songs.
💞❤️💞
damn I am jealous of that man's mustache
YEESS
Pre recorded or not this is ridiculously good.
mattspew94 Agree! Who cares it’s just brilliant
What do you mean? It's recorded live in the studio. This is what they sound like live. I've seen them several times.
Holy fuck awesome
wow! Nice fucking find! Love it when the rabbit hole of youtube take me to a happy place!
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷♥️♥️
Cool arrangement of a great song. Nothing live about it though.
Angus is pre recorded ?! Saw them in live they are early good but this live is weird
I’d be surprised if he were pre-recorded. After all, there are loads of live and unplugged versions, he just sounds like that.
Mind, the microphone and whatever sound equipment is probably tuned a certain way, but that’s more akin to hitting the pedals of a piano.
Great duo. Julia has incredible stage presence. You don't learn it. That's serious shit.
Anyone else knows any songs that has this vibe?
Best music after a acid comedown^
Whats that cap called?
Is he the guy from the lethal weapon tv series?
Do yourselves a favor: never look for his Blower's Daughter cover.
Would have loved to see a raw version without so many electronics, still a good song though.
ruclips.net/video/N9_5_Ee2sUs/видео.html
Wow, 3 bass. How unusual.
Perfect (L)
There is definitely a backing track here that they are singing over. I’ve played both versions over each other and the timing is exactly the same. Never the less, it was a great performance but they are definitely using a backing track

to the people who think he's lip syncing watch this, its just how the guy looks when hes singing ruclips.net/video/N9_5_Ee2sUs/видео.html
Is it just me but this seems pre recorded?? It's doesn't even seem like Angus is singing???
I thought that at first too, but I think because they are all singing, it creates that chorus effect.
Yeah you can tell when Julia sings its real but when angus does hes lip syncing. You can tell his part is a loop and no variance of voice inflections.
Playing to a backing track, although this still takes immense skill - firstly to write, produce and then perform.
louiem32 he has a playback which is weird because they don't use that normally
Listening to the Zenith back stage version, I'm not so sure they ARE using a backing track. Listen to that one, vocals are again freakishly on point. I think they are just that good XD
Ya stupid if ya think hes no singing with backtrack. Lol hes obviously singing along w his song. But this song is major feeeelz
???
More like "Julia Stone - 'Chateau' (live on triple j)" :(
Ancuta Ion ikr sounds like she has throat cancer
that family has great chins
is this lip syncing? eerily similar to studio track?
This doesn't sound like a live track to me.
Why is Angus lipsyncing?
Why do you say that?
Uh!! Her legs..
Dont you love the strat effect from the bass haha.. they dont sing or play guitar!
Lad is overrated. I’m sure the ladies love his talking voice
Overrated? U outta ur mind?! Like hardly anyone has heard of these people and they can actually sing thank u very much! Unlike Billie Shittish or Olivia Rodcrappa...
What are u people smoking. Angus is miming. This is actually pathetic for like a version.
Bigdaddy no, other bass player is also singing
I HATE THE INTRO OF TRIPLE J... REALLY... STOP IT... THE SOUND IS ANNOYING.
Some white boys are still ok I guess..... so good
Is Angus lip syncing?
So frustrating, he’s not singing live whereas she does ! That’s a fucking shame
kinda amazing how in however many years of being in the scene they haven't made one interesting song lmao
Timothy Charles why are you still listening to them here then?
yeah I suppose they only got munger 1 in hottest 100 and number 3 last year, pretty mediocre really hey
that's a lot of basses in one song
