This video has eluded me. Mocked me and my ignorance. Diluted in all the nonsense out on the internet. I have found it. Saved it and refer to it often. Thank you sir

As a former Pontiac mechanic I learned that there’s ALWAYS little tricks that are time and life savers!
You clearly have been turning wrenches for some time. That pliers trick is gold! For the shade tree mechanic that little trick saves buying a tool for doing a job only a handful of times.
Also good for you to point out using a pick to loosen the dust boot.
    Well done.

You don't have to buy it, it's a deposit and return to rent, so it's free, however there is a cube tool that fits a ratchet, it looks like it should be inexpensive, but I don't know who sells it

Thank you very much for mentioning at the beginning that the rear piston CANNOT be pressed in like the front. Helpful video.

I'm glad you noted the piston has to be lined up, other videos just say twist it back in. Supposibly there is a cube tool for a ratchet to twist it back in, if you don't want to rent the tool you had, not sure who sells it though.Thank you for the tutorial, this is why I watch many of them before doing something, and read comments.

Actually I'm not sure about that piston , it looks like the nub on the outside bof the pad needs to be in those piston notches, so it has to be straight up and down, with the gap of the piston lined up with the nub on the outside of the pad.I noticed this on my old pad, it left the imprint on the pad showing me this. And I also couldn't line up the caliper without doing something about that

Thanks for the comprehensive and nicely explained video. I would appreciate it if you would comment on the issue of lateral runout when replacing rotors. All the videos I have watched appear to leave out this issue. How common is to encounter this issue when replacing rotors and brake pads? Thank you in advance for your expert opinion on the issue.

With the front brakes you have to pump the brakes, then set the brakes, is the process the same on the back brakes?

Question, you only have to move the piston in as you showed in the video, you don’t have to twist it back out to a certain point?
    Thank you

Best rear brake video out there for the 2004 - 2008 Grand Prix's. Thanks for that. We're looking to do this on our 2007 Grand Prix this weekend.
Just one question. Once you complete installing the rear brakes and put the caliper back on, does the piston re-adjust once you hit the brakes for the first time?

  • @anti0918
    @anti0918 9 лет назад

Even better than needle nose pliers for turning in the caliper piston, you can use a pair of needle nose vise grips, which you can adjust so that they fit directly into the slots. Then you don't have to worry about holding the plier handles open the right amount.

Hi I changed the rotor and have the tool to press the piston in, I got it to go back in but is not flush so I cant get the caliper back on it kind of goes on but not all the way, is there way to get it in more or is the caliper no good? I did both front brakes no problems.

After you have finished replacing both rear brakes on the grand prix should a person wonder about an elctrical problem sent to the dic about servicing abs system? Or will the ecu figure this situation out in time? Just wondering because my neighbor did this and i seem to be getting warning lights

Why does only one caliper pin have an " O " ring , and if you loose orientation of them during the repair which one would most likely go to the top position on the bracket.
