- Colorectal cancer symptoms in a young person? Emotional cancer Q&A Vlog
Malin & Tom
Have you wondered what the colorectal cancer symptoms might be in a young person? In this colon cancer vlog, we discuss what the first symptoms of Malin's rectal cancer were, our experience of the Swedish healthcare system when it comes to cancer treatment, specifically chemotherapy and radiation therapy, as well as some of the other creators here on RUclips that have inspired us with their cancer journeys, specifically @kingingit, @eamonandbec and @tiffanythinks.
In October 2022, Malin was diagnosed with stage 2/3C colorectal cancer at the young age of 29. Since this, she's had a full course of radiation therapy, is it just about to start round 3 of chemotherapy. The radiotherapy was tough to get through, and the chemo is, of course, also proving to be a huge challenge, but we're getting through it. One foot in front of the other.
After the chemotherapy is finished, Malin will be having surgery to remove whats left of the cancerous tumour, and will hopefully be on her way to becoming cancer-free.

Who are we?
------
We are a young 'Swenglish' adventure family, that consists of Swedish Malin, English Tom, and babies Charlie & Isabella, who are half and half. We love all kinds of adventures, including travelling around Sweden and beyond in our little budget family campervan, and we're currently building our dream campervan project.
But right now we’re focused on one thing: to be free of cancer. We've been on the journey to recover since Malin received her colorectal cancer diagnosis in late 2022.

So sorry you have to go through this at your age too but my husband was diagnosed with colon cancer stage 4 ,he had 6 rounds of chemo, l was so proud of his he was just tried on the days after his chemo never sick like you he can't drink cold water or he cannot get any thing from the fridge or freezer ,
Bless you. You will definitely be in my prayers. 🙏 🙏 ❤ ❤
My hubby had stage 3 colorectal cancer in 2019, at the age of 45, it was a year long journey and very difficult, radiation, surgery, chemo and then stoma reversal surgery, but he is now cancer free and doing so well. I am sorry that you are going through this, praying for your healing 🙏🏼
Really glad to hear of your husband’s recovery Wendy 🧡 stories like these keep us going.
I have been following Jenny Apple who has stage 4 lung cancer. She’s been keeping us informed every step of the way and now her support at the hospital including the doctors are watching also. ❤

That's one less thing to worry about: The Cost Of Health Care! I'd rather pay more in taxes, than be stuck with a bill I cannot pay. Thank you for answering my question. I was wondering about your hair as well, but didn't want to ask. I hope your recovery week and down time is the best it can possibly be. Please don't apologize for tears...you're human.
You don’t have to apologize for crying, honey. Feel the feelings. We are all here to support you and your wonderful family.
Malin, you are so brave and Tom so supportive. I find it so sad that young ladies like you and Tiffany and many others have to go through this cancer journey. I’m a 68 year old breast cancer survivor (12 years) My heart goes out to you and your family. Positive thoughts, all the way from Cape Town, South Africa 💪💕
Bless you form America.. stay strong sweetie. I’m 3 years cancer free after having uterine cancer. It’s tough….so tough. I cry with you because I understand. Cry as much as you want. Slept as long as you want. This is something that you yourself can feel… sending prayers and strength.♥️🇺🇸♥️🇺🇸
Hi Kam, my name is Barbara and I'm going through a uterine cancer diagnosis and still waiting to see my oncologist 🙏🙏. Can you kindly tell me what I can expect?. Things I need to change such as diet and nutrition?. Thank you from Montreal Canada 🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏..
@@barbcosgrove64 I'm on the same journey stage 4 endometrial here, truing to be positive and stay strong in faith, when will they finally have a cure. Be blessed
Tiffany Thinks is a powerful cancer journey But it is very heavy and emotional. She is having a very rough go of things so you may want to hold off on her stuff for a bit. She is a wonderful soul and her family is amazing but like I said if you get emotional watching someone in the midst of their journey maybe wait love 🥺💚 Much love from Canada 🇨🇦🍁
This is true ✨
Great news today from Tiffany that the margins were clear.
@@olivebobo6885 Awesome news!! I cried for her!! And did you see Amma smiling 😁 soo happy!!
Romee Duessenbrok’s channel is also worth watching. She is a cancer survivor who documented her brave fight and is now enjoying traveling around the world. Her bravery has been very inspirational. I wish you all the best in what must be frightening times. Lots of hugs xxxxxx
I love Romee.
I follow Tiffany Thinks she is so honest in her journey & has documented every day...she had her surgery just before Christmas ❤
I've been following TiffanyThinks for several months and she is also young, just 30, and has colorectal cancer. One thing that she and her family always say is, "we got this". She even has merch with those words. You've got this, sweetie. I'm sending love and strength to you both from Kansas, USA.❤
I follow Tiffany she’s an inspiration.
I love watching Tiffany’s journey too. She is a great inspiration!
Yes, me too! We got this ❤ think about her often.
People who face cancer are incrediblely brave people. To document it and share for others to not feel alone is just so selfless. During a very hard time, they are thinking of others.
@@olivebobo6885 Tiffany looked great hair done, make up, laughing on in the pictures on her sisters instagram account at her sisters birthday party
TiffanyThinks is a dumpster fire. I really don't recommend her. She is also very mentally unstable and struggling and would be a terrible person to watch if you have any struggles yourself. Please check out the TiffanyThinks Tattle Life thread (easy to Google) before you get started with her. She's mostly into selling merchandise and having people send her gifts. She is the most controversial cancer vlogger and I just don't think you need that at this point. You seem like lovely people.
Tiffany thinks, is really good to watch, she’s so real and lovely, I’ve had breastcancer and I like to give her nice comments when she’s affraid or tired. Please hold on to everything, you are a strong couple, proud of you, it’s not an easy journey, I’ve cried many tears too,so don’t apologize for this, greetings from the Netherlands 🥰
Tiffany thinks is awesome! Highly recommend! I’ve been following her whole cancer journey and she just finished surgery and so far so good.
Tiffany shares the good and the bad parts of her journey with her supporters all her hope, doubts and fears esp recently when she spent a few weeks in hospital to undergo an ileostomy (colon was removed).
But she has an awesome partner and her mother living with her - it makes all the difference I reckon = nobody should go through this alone.
I know it’s rough. I appreciate you sharing your journey. Wish I had done the same. People need to know they’re not alone and find comfort and support. Hugs to you! Thanks for being who you are
It's sad that a lot of people have to think of costs when it comes to health issues. And treating diseases as horrible as this. When that is the last thing that should be on your mind.
Cry when you want to, laugh when you can and keep taking one step in front of the other! You can do this!!❤
Hello Nancy how are you doing,
where are you from?
Im so sorry. I got dx with colorectal cancer at 30. A year right after having my son. Praying for you and you got this.
In italy we have the same healthcare system . It's the greatest expression of democracy . I feel sorry for the countries who don't have it . I wish you both the best to come . Keep fighting never give up .
@@beverly9 you wait for visits or exams that are not urgent .in case of suspected cancer or other dangerous diseases you have a priority.
@@beverly9 sorry to hear about your parents . I'm aware that the system is not perfect but at least anyone ,no matter what status ,can receive care. We might pay more taxes but to me it's worthed .
@@Raya-ir4tm it's not a matter of being forced but a sense of community and understanding that health is not always guaranteed . if you are struggling financially at least you don't have to worry about the cost of the hospital . There are individuals who might develop cronic diseases or have children that are born sick and need years of daily cares , a temporary loss of work , accidents ,the examples are endless . With this system all strata of society can afford to be sick . There is no difference between rich and poor in the hospital . Rich people can pay extra to have a private room if they desire so . We have great doctors and nurses too.
My mom died of colon cancer almost 2 years ago... Hunny please let you heal, and go into full recovery. I can't see someone losing a mom. Especially such young children.
Tiffany thinks is going thru a really hard time, might be confronting for now. She is a strong girl.
Stay strong, you can do this❤
I was thinking the same. I am following Tiffany Thinks for a year now. She just had her major surgery in December and it's very hard watching her fighting her way through.
I cry with Tiffany every time she posts. She’s been through so much at such a young age. Might not be the best to follow right now.
No Tiffany is fine now hair done, makeup on laughing at her sisters birthday party she looks great. Her sister put photos on Instagram

You got this. I am a 3 times, stage 4 survivor of colorectal cancer. I am NED, dosen't mean you'll have this experience, everyone is different, you both have a very positive attitude and very supportive of each other. Remain strong. It's hard sometimes, but very very important, take it 1 day at a time. I didn't do that the first time around, I created more mental stress for myself because I was always anticipating the next step. Take it 1 day at a time, one step at a time. And cry as much as you want. Never apologize for crying. Never apologize for anything or anyhow you feel. Praying for you. YOU GOT THIS!
I follow sweet Tiffany she has had the battle for her life. Major radical surgery in December and is at home recovering. Praying for you and Tiffany
I'm so sorry you are going through this, and I pray for a full recovery for you! I went 8 months undiagnosed with Medullary Thyroid cancer. I was so sick, I couldn't eat, huge weight loss and I became very weak. It's awful that we have to push our doctors for testing when we know something is not right.
Yes we have to advocate for our health, bcs sadly they make a lot of money off of cancer patients, I hope you're doing much better now
New follower here. I had a double mastectomy on the 13th and am on a journey of my own. You two seem like an amazing loving couple and it's my honor to "walk" this journey with you.. we've got this ❤️
So proud of you, you are doing amazing. Hang in there even though it does not feel like it today, it will get better. My husband had throat cancer in 2012, he had 35 radiation treatments and 2 rounds of chemo and he’s still cancer free today. There is light at the end of the tunnel. ❤ from Ontario 🇨🇦
Kämpa på ! Det ni publicerar är så oerhört viktigt.
Tiffany thinks just went through major surgeries and is of course really struggling. Being that you are not there yet you might not want to follow her journey yet. She’s a beautiful young woman and very open and honest. She’s just a few weeks out from surgery and still adjusting to her new body and life. I would never discourage more views for her channel but just based on what you said, it might not be one you are ready to follow yet.
Bless you in your journey and May you have complete healing at the end of treatment.
That was nice of you to advise that, and Tiffany would understand telling someone going through a rough time not to watch at this time. Getting through any kind takes lots of recovery and takes time. She is in the early stages of recovery so understandably it's a very difficult time for Tiffany.
Tiffany looks great hair done makeup on laughing at her sisters birthday party
@@Elaine-tk1uh that must be today's which I haven't watched. She does look great as always and many smiles, but as with anyone who has recovered from surgery the first weeks are tough, Knowing this from experience. She has been open about her struggle, and it might not be the best time for someone who may possibly go through the same. It might be too much knowledge too soon. Tiffany would be a good one to watch how she has risen above it and for someone to see her strength. Just at this moment, she has had low points. I'm very sure she will bounce back from this too as always.
@@peppershake414 no the photos were on her sisters Instagram not on RUclips
@@Elaine-tk1uh oh, thanks. Last RUclips she wasn't ready to talk to people, so good to see she is progressing. Waiting for her Sunday video now, Sunday.

I have so many hopes for you! The biggest hope is the obvious one in that I hope you are cured from cancer, but in the meantime, I hope you tolerate the treatments you still have to go through with the least amount of side effects as possible! I also hope for an early spring because being so sensitive to the cold is an added stressor you don't need. Sending hugs, prayers, and positive thoughts to you in Sweden from Canada. You guys are an amazing couple! So much love shines through! You can do this Malin!!! xx
We are super proud of you! And you absolutely do not have to apologize for crying! Hugs from Canada

Wishing you guys all the best through this tough journey.
That is such a frustrating theme in situations like yours, the doctors not taking symptoms seriously. It happens time and time again and you would think they would learn. I am following you on your journey and hope for the best possible outcomes.
Sending you love and encouragement from America! Cancer sucks!! My husband was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer in 2017 at age 50. It had spread to the lymph nodes and there was a spot in his liver. Our children were ages 10, 4 and 2 at the time. He did radiation, chemo and had two surgeries. As of last month he is cancer free for 5 years!! I have been where your husband is on the caregiver side. It is hard, but know that I am thinking of and praying for your family and look forward to seeing you beat this and enjoy life on the other side of the battle!
As for the chemo it was the same with my husband. He would where oven mitts to get something out of the fridge because of the sensitivity to cold. He still has a bit of neuropathy in his feet, but his hands are fully better. Hope this story encourages you and helps you to feel less alone in the battle. Sending you much love and hugs from Nashville TN.
I’m glad you guys have good access to care. That’s awesome.
I too have colon stage 4 cancer. I hate chemotherapy It make me tired all the time. After chemo on the 4th day i will have diarrhea. You said that there will not have hair loss...😒 I have a little hair loss not a lot. Suddenly hot flashes not my favors. On March i will have to continue my chemo. Stay healthy and save.
Wishing you happiness to you both & your children ❤ Thankyou for sharing your journey. Hang in there, guys. The inner strength 💪 you both have is good 👍

Of course, follow your heart as to what vloggers you look into. As a medical professional though, I would not encourage you to check out Tiffanythinks. There are just several things portrayed that I would not want my patients to engage in or think are healthy/acceptable. I can get into details if need be, but in a nutshell.... she is not a good role model of a patient who is proactive, and/or compliant with her care. She is also a very anxious and insecure person, which then impacts her journey in a negative way. I am not here to 'bash' anyone, but if you were my loved one.. this is what I'd be saying to you. I do encourage you to be proactive, and write down questions for your doctors. (It never fails, I always forget to ask all my questions, if I don't write them down!!) 🤭 Best wishes, and positive peaceful vibes being sent your way from Florida!! 🌺😎 ☀ 🏝 🌻
You are strong Malin, to even share this knowing how much it will help others despite inner turmoil makes you amazing lovely! Your Tom is amazing too, a solid rock who speaks out and right behind you. I hope you look out for Tiffanythinks channel as so much inspiration from others can only help. Cry and laugh lovely. We are here for you ❤
It's normal to feel like this.
In february 2020 I was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer with 38 yo.
I had to have surgery (they made a protective colostomy in order to have a smooth radiotherapy treatment), had radiotherapy, then discovered that there is another tumor at ileocecal valve. I had the big surgery by the end of July, they closed the colostomy and opened an ileostomy. In september started the quimiotherapy, 11 cicles, one at every 2 weeks. I was exhausted all the Time, spending all day in bed. In Romania is cold in winter as well so I had to spend the days at home. The numbness is awful but in some cases is reversibile.
After chemo I spent few months recovoring and then had the surgery to close my ileostomy.
It wasnt an easy path buy it was totally worth it. This month I celebrated 2 years since my Last chemo and 3 years since my diagnosis.
Malin, be brave and think that is just a phase and then when it finishes the things will start to improve quickly. After my chemo it took me only 2 weeks to have a good walk (10.000 steps), and during the treatment the only steps I used to take were from the bed to the kitchen, and from the bed to the bathroom.
If you need to know more details, be free to write me.
Hugs and good energy from Bucharest!
Don't think you should watch Tiffany Thinks at the moment. She's just recovering from surgery now, so is feeling very vulnerable. You might find it a hard watch
Thank you for sharing. You are stronger than this disease! Hardest thing about chemo is that each treatment seems to bring different symptoms. You have a wonderful family and you Will get thru this. ❤❤ and 🙏🙏
Don’t ever be sorry for crying or showing emotions, we’re here for you ! ❤️❤️
Malin and Tom, your journey may be difficult but the way you look at each other is so beautiful. As for the mention of Tiffanythinks, she and her family are amazing. She has put so much of her cancer journey on RUclips, that’s not for everyone. I think Tiffany would be the first to say ‘do you’ what you are comfortable with. Sending healing thoughts to you.

I stumbled on your video. I had a colonoscopy last year (February 2022) at 44 and the doctor found colon cancer. I was very lucky that it was very early, and had not spread. I had a hemicolectomy in April 2022 to remove part of my right colon. It was such a scary time, and I am so very sorry you are going through this. I just wanted to let you know I am keeping you in my prayers! ❤️
Hey guys stay positive, I was in your position they thought I had stage 3 colon cancer due to the lymph nodes, even after the surgery the dr told me it looked like it had spread but when I got the histology done I had 36 lymph nodes removed and all were cancer free, and I was actually stage 2. I too have a young family, with my wife currently pregnant with our third. I wish you the best, I know it’s hard, believe me I know. But keep going. I got told I’m now cancer free in January. Good luck guys.

Malin sweetie, don’t ever feel like you should apologize for being emotional. It breaks my heart for you that you are going thru this battle with Ca. You and Tom and children continue to be in our prayers.
Yes, Tiffany Thinks Family: Tiff is recovering from her surgery and a lot different in as she records pretty much everything; the good days and the horrible days so she can look back and see where she was, went thru, and how she persevered thru it all. But each person deals with their battle differently and it’s all ok!! Your diagnosis and Tiffany’s is quite the same. Malin, you are doing so great. And So blessed to have such a loving husband by your side. Oh, your hands and feet; so many have the same symptoms.

I watch Tiffanythinks and think she would b a great person to watch. She tries to b so positive and she is honest about how she feels, good and bad.
No apologies necessary. You are a very strong woman mother and wife you will come out of thus with flying colors. I am currently 1 year cancer free. I didn't do chemotherapy or radiation I did alternative approaches. I found the book Radical Remission to very very helpful with my healing journey and also Chris Beats Cancer book and his videos very helpful 😀. I will pray for your healing 🙏🏻.
