I'm black and I got three clear & brilliant treatments. I left the numbing on for 30 minutes and I still feel the pain. Spicy is a good way to describe it. Even though I experience a bit of discomfort, I like the results
My dermatologist made me think of something very interesting. She told me that no matter what cosmetic procedures we do, we do not make ourselves look younger, we just make ourselves look good for our age. I kind of agree with this statement and I would be curious to hear your opinion. You clearly take care of yourself and you look great, but I don't believe anybody would take you for a 30 year old. You just look great for your age and I think this is all we can expect from dermatologists.
you are seriously the most adorable person ever. Thank you for your videos. I work as a medical esthetician/laser technician in Canada and I love watching your videos. xx
Thank you! So thankful there are Drs like you that take time out to educate us. It is intimidating when you know you would like to have something done but don’t have the knowledge base to make an educated decision on what procedure to talk to a dermatologist about. Some of your viewers I am sure are like me in that they don’t have a lot of different Drs to choose from. I feel the more educated I am the better decisions I can make not only on what Dr to choose but also what procedures I want to even discuss with him/her. Thank you! ❤️

Stephanie, Will you make a video comparing MOXI, halo, BBL, Hero vs C&B Fraxel Co2. There seems to be so many optiosn but ive not heard you mentioned these lasers and their effects. Thank you!
I am kind of concerned, as I got a C&B for the first time today, and at first, I was just a little pink. This evening, it looks like a full out sunburn on my face and definitely uncomfortable. The one who did mine scared me away from the fraxel. She said it would be very hot, very uncomfortable, and I would have 10 days downtime. This doesn't match with Dr. K says, so it would appear she is more highly trained and experienced. Wish I could make it out to CA.
i loved this video, you are so endearing and seem so honest. Interested in clear and brilliant cause of the low downtime and this provided a lot of good info
Thank you for your concise explanation of the differences in the lasers. How do you feel about facial fat loss with the deeper fractionated lasers? I would like to have a laser treatment to help with fine lines and crepiness around the eyes, but I am worried about fat loss as I don't have much to lose.
Have you heard of these franchised businesses called Skin Laundry? They are doing IPL/Yag laser facials for $75 which is less then IPL at my dermatologists office. I imagine that the quality isn't the same but would like your take on this. Thank you for your video's. They are very informative.

@@DrStefaniKappel speaking of Thermage… is it safe to do Clear & Brilliant and IPL after having Thermage? Or would that potentially cause facial fat loss from too much heat?
Thank you, Dr. Kappel! I so appreciate you sharing your vast knowledge of skin care. I'm late to the laser party, but at least I'm here! I scheduled my first clear and brilliant treatment, and cannot wait to see the results.
Hi Dr. Kappel!! I love, love your videos!!! Can you please do a video talking about Ultherapy??? I can't wait for your next video!!!
I had the LaseMD treatment (2 so far) and am very happy with the results. Its definitely better than botox for me personally. I assume the LaseMD must be similar to the Clear + Brilliant? I will continue to do it at least annually until something better comes along (can't wait to find out what it is!). Thanks for the informative video. Take care!
Listening to this video 3 years after it was made. Are any of the new technologies out yet for the skin that you mentioned at the very end that you couldn’t tell us yet?
What is the best laser for acne scars that are slightly pitted and some box car scars? I did Fraxel when it first came out but I didn’t see a difference? I don’t have a lot of pigment in my acne scars just mainly texture left over from them😀
I loved Fraxel dule. It made my skin beautiful and the fine lines were erased . the first time i had it done- i looked great after healing. The 2nd time my experiance was not good. The estetician placed the setting very low so my result was not so good.
Thank you for an informative video regarding Fraxel and Clear + Brilliant. You explain each one so that we can understand the difference of each laser and pick the one right for our needs. I have had 3 microcurrent sessions. How does microcurrent compare to Clear + Brilliant? I am 55. I am concerned about sagging around the jowls. I have been considering doing Clear + Brilliant since there is no down time. My 4th microcurrent session is this week. The office that does the microcurrent does not do laser of any kind. So if Clear + Brilliant will give better results I am willing to do that.. if money allows and if someone in my area does Clear + Brilliant I will give it a try. Thank you again for your time.
With Clean and Brilliant, you suggest 3-4 treatments. How much time between treatments should you wait? 3-4 treatments in a month? over several months? etc.? Thank you! XOXO
Dr Kappel, I found yours and Brianna Stanko's channel not too long ago. I have been power watching all of them. I appreciate the information you both share so much!! Dr Kappel thank you for making me the expert amongst all my friends lol!!!! Hi Dr. Kappel. Can you please tell me if the Clear and Brilliant laser can be used to treat both the top and lower eyelid areas as well as the neck? Also, how does long term Tretinoin therapy compare to the C & B laser? Thanks so much for your time!
Kelly Oberg Fraxel is a laser and the Dermablend is unusually a form of micro-needling. Check out my first video on microneedling. Lasers are a much more elegant and effective treatment.
I had a halo a few weeks ago and looked like hell for a week. The mends fell off by day 10. Definitely a gross recovery of scabbing and itching. I seriously doubt I will ever do this again! I would go for a less harsh one next time. The swelling made me look Chinese and I have very round eyes normally.
Have you ever seen a fractional laser leave the grid mark on the skin? I received a fractional treatment around Christmas time (2019) and still can see areas with a grid pattern. My pores look larger as well.
What do you suggest is the best laser for acne? Is there a laser that really gets rid of and prevents active acne and redness? Like what’s the laser equivalent to Accutane?
@DrStefaniKappel I ask this with all due respect and curiosity for my own skin learning journey.. in this video, as compared to your current 2024 videos, there is a marked difference in the appearance of your neck. I am an avid follower and am learning about the benefits of fraxel and even botox for shaping and improving the neck area... what else contributes to the significant improvements you have realized if you don't mind sharing. Unfortunately lasers are to expensive for many of us. That's why many people choose microneedling. I have never done microneedling, scared, Don't have any time for downtime. I know many people Don't peel from this as is nicknamed the red carpet peel, but I was pretty flaky for 2 days, took 3 days for the flaky's to disappear. So can they help over time?
Hi there! I am Asian, struggling with brown spots, and have been told by a dermatologist friend of my husband, never to let anyone put a laser on my skin. She told me this in passing as we were saying our goodbyes, but it seemed as though she wanted to elaborate more but didn't have the opportunity. Was this just a general statement to keep me from going to a fly-by-night establishment who could potentially do more harm than good, or is that the rule for Asian skin? I guess I could ask her, but I was curious about your opinion and thought this might be helpful for others with the same issue. Thank you so much for sharing with us who are thirsty! :)
C B Great question. So the rule for Asian skin is that you must pre and post treat Asian skin with hydroquinone or a skin brightener to protect against post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Usually the treatment is started 1 to 2 weeks prior to laser and should continue 1 month after laser. Any laser fellowship grainier dermatologist or plastic surgeon will know this but many less experienced medi spas etc will not and may just not treat Asian patients altogether. It can be done safely and without risk of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation if done correctly by a skilled laser surgeon.
