Last year I ordered some of Rodger's gamebox art from his website to hang on the walls of my gameroom. He signed each one and even included an extra and wrote 'A gift!' on it along with the signature. They look great framed on the wall. I am absolutley going to buy this book.

Hi Ardy, just a few things you may be interested in,
[1] 3W's also released Forward To Richmond which has a mounted warpy map.
[2] This title also was the first use (I think) of the Pollard markers, named after the guy who came up with the idea.
[3] If you are going to get and of the 3 original central front titles to the table use the rules from BAOR, there was a subtle change (leaving a couple of lines out of the combat rules) which reduced the power of the Warsaw Pact units. These units were way overpowered and once players got the hang of it ran away with the game.
    Hope this helps

The Third Reich montage is from the cover of the rulebook.

Really beautiful product. Because the visuals we immediately associate with our memories of the games we've played and loved (at the most primal, emotional level) are the box covers (as opposed to picturing the game set up on the table), RBM is responsible for creating the catalog of images of the hobby in our minds. For example, whenever I see that amazing box cover of Flattop, I get a strong emotional reaction (a very positive one). It's only when I engage the higher brain functions that I can conjure up memories of a game actually being played.
Rodger can also provide a unique perspective on the hobby, because he isn't siloed like so many great designers and publishers. He worked with so many publishers over his career, that he can provide a broader view of the hobby as a whole, as it moved through various periods, using the powerful visual medium. I'd be really interested to read the text the book and not just admire all the art.

I deeply appreciate your insights on the book. Yes, I was lucky enough to work for many different game publishers from all over the world during my career. I hope that my book also becomes a reference source in future that helps to tell the history of our Hobby. Enjoy, Rodger

What a superb video, thank you so much for sharing an in-depth and insightful look at my new Art Book. The book took years to write, research and compile -- much longer than I expected when I first started this project. I wanted to present my artwork in high resolution and on high quality paper stock. Locating the original artwork, scanning it and then creating the layout design took a very long time since I reached back to my early work in the 60s & 70s. Your video captured so many great details which I hope the fans will enjoy in the years to come as they refer back to this book in future. It is a Visual Time Machine of an important part of the History of our Hobby. Enjoy the Art! -- Rodger
