      My favorite thing to do when up against religious peasant factions is to plop my one rally point down right next to them (bonus points if it's in a barony that they're locked in moving into) and call a Holy Order. If you're taking over a lot of hostile land and know you will face multiple revolts of the same religion, you can let a small enough stack that will be outnumbered by the local garrison survive. As long as a revolt is happening, no revolt of the same religion can trigger, since they are already revolting. The tiny stack will forever just sit there, allowing you to convert your new lands without fearing a new revolt.

    At that stage in the game, you should always be searching for secrets in your court with your spymaster, so you can get imprisonment reasons and/or strong hooks on rebellious vassals.
    On another note, while you don't get maluses across the board for holding too many kingdoms, I believe you do get opinion maluses with vassals who desire them.

    • @zSwift42
      @zSwift42 2 года назад +9

      As an empire It's always best to only hold the Kingdom that is dejure to your realm capital. Either destroy the other Kingdom Titles or give them to family members or vassals. The more kingdoms you hold the more your vassals will desire them.

    • @laszlobandi6456
      @laszlobandi6456 2 года назад +4

      actually they can usurp it anyway if they hold the lands required for the de jure lands. happens very often with single county duchies that they usurp it right away when they got the money. no notification or sign of this. so if you want to hold the kingdoms, and they got de jure lands, they will have a small malus for the kingdom, the main thing preventing to usurp it is a ton of money they don't have. one trick is to give duchies from different kingdoms so they first need to fight for the others which rarely happens, or go independent first with 3 random ones. actually I want to try breaking up huge kingdoms to form smaller ones, so I got to try how I can do that. and for lands that can't form a proper duchy, like you are holding a mine, best bet is giving a city to an unlanded guy then the county holding it then he is a lord mayor with no complaints and usually they never fight.

    • @HighAdmiral
      @HighAdmiral 2 года назад +15

      @@laszlobandi6456 I think you're confusing creating titles with usurping titles. It's called creating when the title doesn't exist, and usurping when someone else already has it but you take it because you hold more land in the title. You can't usurp titles from your liege.

    • @Crazy_Diamond_75
      @Crazy_Diamond_75 2 года назад +1

      I don't think vassals get opinion modifiers for holding de jure kingdom titles above them. I think at that tier they only get modifiers for holding duchies and counties that belong to *their* kingdom titles. On my recent 1066 Karling playthrough, I held every kingdom title I could, and would finally grant them decades later as I started running into vassal limit problems. Never saw a single negative opinion modifier for this, again, except for when I was still holding duchies that de jure belonged to them.

    Something I noticed that the culture and even the religion of some of the vassals are all over the place. If you are a different culture/religion your vassals tend to join independent factions so it is better to give titles to members of your own culture/religion
    One of my biggest disaster in CK was when my heir of the Empire of Outremer became Catholic French like his mother without me noticing while all of my vassals and my character were Orthodox Greek...

    • @laszlobandi6456
      @laszlobandi6456 2 года назад +1

      that won't help, they convert to local first time they are confronted, especially if they are craven. you need to convert culture on those de jure kingdom capitals and duchy capitals, then their council does the rest. also you can land your heir a bit earlier to make some relations with the locals, if you just give a kingdom, the first thing they do is revoke a county, then they got a tyranny war and they lose it. while a bit of experience and fame worth a few lands, rather keep a county in each kingdom for each kid you got, then it's easier to make them stabilize. for religions is not that important, and quite hard to convert higher fervor ones, it will be converted by natural process slowly, but you can also get a few cynical counts from a 3rd faith of low fervor, and they convert their county with them. you can keep a single county of different faith for easy prestige and rebel leaders. they are house members and good martial usually. I tried to breed with them but their kids are usually bad. but being part of a house is making them valuable.

      They don't convert if they are the more powerful in the region. My tactic work better in religious work or when you make your different religion/culture vassals rebel on purpose in a controlled rebellion so you can unsurp their lands afterwards because they were traitors.

    CK3 loves to let you know you can only hold 2 Duchies as a King or Emperor, but I decided to look into what happens if you hold more. It's a -15 blanket modifier to Vassal opinion per duchy after 2, which is really not that bad at all. Lately I tend to hold 3 or even 4 sometimes. If you want to check the blanket modifiers for ALL of your vassals, it's in the vassals tab down the bottom near the vassal limit, just hover over the score to see the list of every modifier, including how much tyranny you're on currently.

    Just a tip for everybody going into wars like this, if you know you don't need way more troops then your opponent, raise your men at arm's seperate and then just raise levies after. Stop raising them when you're getting close to either having way more soldiers than your opponent, or at least stop raising when you're about to go into the red for your income. You don't need 37'000 troops if your enemy has 20'000. Maybe 25000 at most, win a fight, then get rid of excess levies as you win more fights.
    Also, by recruiting from Holy Orders, they're FREE armies. But I think you can only recruit them if your enemy is an opposing religion. Hope this tip helps

    • @schadiel-ghorayeb479
      @schadiel-ghorayeb479 3 года назад

      You can recruit them allwqys if they are avviable
      BUT they only join a battle against other faiths
      so if you atack the same faith the warriors of the order will simply stay out of the battle you fighting ( army vs army)

    • @laszlobandi6456
      @laszlobandi6456 2 года назад

      ctrl click makes them stop the recruit and move. you can also get used to having a single flag and move it around while fighting. one trick to use holy order, is declaring a war on a different faith, while not raising the armies yet for your other war. you can merge your army with it and then it can be used. unlike allies who are invited in a war so won't help on other wars. but if you want a bit more action, it's always good to have a custom faith and 3 holy sites, revoke the old orders, make new ones, convert vassals, eliminate the ones who refuse and use the new order to fight the rest. since you would already have trouble with other cultures and faiths, make your new religion and a pseudo house vs non house war.

    When it comes to personal holdings, I basically always take counties that have special buildings. Having even a couple of those will give you a massive gold or troop advantage, and many if not most also grant renown while you hold it as well. Examples ad Aachen, Cologne, Gottingen, Paris/ Ile de France (once you have windmills), and any other holy site or Christian-usable buildings (nearby ones would be Cordoba, Jerusalem, etc), or mine or university site. Dropping claims on those high value targets is an easy and powerful way to build up your personal holdings to be god tier. From a roleplaying point of view, if makes total sense that the emperor would personally hold the greatest religious and cultural sites in your empire (and/or the world).

    20:10 my way of dealing with this is let the rebelion occur, but raising my full troops near the war leader capital before the clock runs out. Once they press demands, I attack their troops while they're raising and then siege the capital. Sometimes you can capture the war leader, maybe some kids, anyway, you may get enough war score to white peace them. After that, they won't form factions for a while, giving you time to imprison them one by one (because they revolted, you have an imprionement reason). After that, revoke the shit out of them and keep/redistribute any way you please

    At 9:10, you were saying there is no issue with holding as many King-tier titles as you like without any negative opinions, but as far as I know, that's not true. If you hold more than one King-tier title, every de jure Duke-tier vassal under the specific Kingdom will have a -20 opinion modifier of you stating 'Desires the Kingdom'.
    For instance, if you are the Emperor of Francia and also hold the titles of King of France and Aquitaine, all Duke-tier vassals under de jure France will have a negative opinion modifier of -20 saying they 'Desire the Kingdom of France'. This will also apply to the Duke-tier vassals of Aquitaine.

      I don't know in CK3, but owning a kingdom, it's always, in CK2, troublesome, because your vasals want them. For example, you have posesions at Catalonia, and you own the Kingdom of aragon (were you have your passesions) and Castille. Well, the vassals from Castille, gonna want the kingdom of Castille, a lot more, when you are Emperor.
      At the end of the day, it's difficult to say what to do and what no to do. If you are near the vassal limit, maybe it's better to just, leave the Kingdom of Castille to some not so close familiar (like your cousin from your dinasty). You gonna need to deal with that one eventually, but at least it's more easy to manage than 5 angry duques.

    There is a button at the top of the menu when granting land to people that I love. It grants the title to someone of that culture. My empire has like 5-6 kingdoms in it and I never have them trying to win their independence because they’re happy. also, if someone reads this, keep in mind Sjaelland is a 5 slot county, with fields/ports, and in the next patch maritime cultural focus is a thing, letting you get 1 series ahead on ports if you wish. 150% dev bonus? if not more. sure someone's gonna do 100 dev Sjaelland super fast (1000? 1100? 1200?) meta and then it's gonna get nerfed.

    another thing you could've done to help suppress the peasant uprising would be to call in your new vassal allies to help you out since you get to call them in for free in defensive wars, and not just the peasant uprisings, once you got an allience with your most powerful vassals you could just let one of the independence factions press their demands, win the war with the power of friendship and then revoke all of their land

    What an epic Robertine play, mine crumbled after about the third generation. Great bailout Zieley! Taking the Glory dynasty legacies (perk 4) can be a good way of calming down some of the factions but for independence there is a point in the stewardship lifestyle that can be good against it. Not so good if you start as a 2 year old King/Queen though. For info for pronunciation; Gascogne = Gas Cone / Frisia = Free Sha.

    Wish I had seen this video during my first long playthrough of CK3 campaign. My player got accidentally (without my knowledge or trying to achieve the dubious honor) voted into the emperorship of the HRE, and three generations later I was so fed up with independence factions/wars and constant unrest I just said "screw you I'm going home to Italy and I'm taking my empire with me!". So my family went back to Italia as independent empire.

    i think late game its very important to go for stewardship first, then i like to pick up few diplomatic perks and switch to either learning or martial (you wont need intrique unless you trying to build dread, whitch is harder in the new update), but most of the time you go with learning first to get that sweet life bonus. also always take the small health boost at the end of your lifetime to keep you alive a bit longer.

    13:54 Technically you can hold more than 2 Duchyes but it gives an opinion penality of -15. If you'r still a king, being over expected court grandiour combined with decent artifacts can easily offset the penality for 2 duchyes which is usually worth it imo.

    I learned more from this than hours of tutorials. In my current play through as Great Moravia I’ve taken 90% of slavia and only have around 6000 troops because I only hold my empire title and one county. I also haven’t been upgrading my capital so once I start doing that I should be a real threat to the Byzantines to my south.

    1:20 "fix the organization of ur realm" killed me. There's is no organization whatsoever lol. Last time i played Robertine i was holding 10-15 duchy titles and i had all the duchy capitals with knight effectiveness so i had over 1000% effectiveness with 40-50 knights. 200+ monthly and all my 100+ vassals (all counts 0 dukes) were at 100 opinion. I was stacking opinion modifiers like musical theory, long reign bonus, poet etc. Actual realistic French kingdom. The king is an asshole but the food and music is real nice and the poems slap so no one rebels.

    Also I would have handled the middle portion of the video a bit differently. When trying to handle factions the befriend scheme is your friend (literally). Marrying Children off is a good option as well, but at some point you'll run out of children. Whereas if at the same time you also try to befriend your vassals, that can reduce the pressure on you quite a bit and can later on prevent factions in case one of the two children die. And seeing as the character had quite a lot of the martial tree already, it would have been fine switching to diplomacy for 5 years.

    • @Miranda17137
      @Miranda17137 3 года назад

      befriending takes time, and a lot of the time that isn't time you have. under these circumstances he could definitely have lined up a befriend on the 3rd or 4th strongest faction member while sending off the kids to marry for alliances on the stronger ones though.

    • @SpanishGarbo
      @SpanishGarbo 2 года назад

      Even easier is seeing that the top members of the factions wanted a seat on the council. So that's +40 opinion right there. And if you're loaded like this emperor just send gift to satisfy them to 80+ opinion, and they'll leave the faction.

  • @lucasistrom
    @lucasistrom 2 года назад

    A lot of times I grant kingdom titles as a band-aid for factions when I can't make alliances with a bunch of small vassals but one big vassal is a little easier to manage

  • @Alister222222
    @Alister222222 2 года назад

    As far as managing factions goes, dip one level into diplomacy (choose the +3 diplomacy focus), just to get the perk that doubles gift effect, and switch your spouse onto helping with diplomacy. While your diplomacy is boosted by spouse and focus, you can be getting anything from +100 to +200 opinion from every single gift (when it's doubled by the gift giving perk). If a faction forms, just give a +200 opinion gift to the top few instigators, and they will drop out within a month or two.

Independent of King & higher members of your dynasty is gravy pure gold. The renown buffs let you fill out and unlock the OP traditions bonuses.

    • @laszlobandi6456
      @laszlobandi6456 2 года назад

      it's old version so that wasn't an issue before. I'm quite inexperienced with the royal court too, probably will change my habbits. usually I dint granted many kingdoms, it just happened to go to my sons so they become uncles or nephews and cousins and eventually they attack you for your empire. it's just way more income having a lot of counties. but lately I was experimenting on single dukes too, the issue there is that they split on succession. but until then is a single layer or taxation for both a duke holding all counties or a count holding a single one. the only time having a king was useful probably when I had a bohemian steward and the extortion event hit him every time, higher fame for you, and higher cash for him means you can take more of it, which really makes it better than more vassals. but usually my diplomat is who is hit by those extortions. I don't like too many spymasters as vassals, and martial based guys are better off with single counties on dangerous borders that aren't consolidated yet. If you would form kingdoms, better off doing a proper 4 man council and a chosen dynasty member as a liege, convert his capital then release him as an independent ruler.

    I've found just spamming archers + archer buildings works the best for Men at Arms. They're incredibly cheap and if you get enough buildings or the life style perk they absolutely demolish everything in their way. Plus, Because they're so cheap, you can field so many of them that you don't have to deal with many rebellions.

    You mentioned it briefly, but for people who are hoping to learn, then if you've managed to build up a central power base like Zieley did just now, then it's best to let the faction rise up. Use marriages like Zieley did to make the faction size as close to 100% as you can, but leave your most powerful vassals in the faction. This is because, like Zieley said, the marriages are just a temporary solution to a deeply structural issue. When Zieley was weighing up whether to imprison or whether to allow them to rise up, he mentioned then revoking titles. I'd say this is the better thing to do. Because the faction will rise up in different places, you should be able to put them down. Not quite with ease, but certainly without too much difficulty. After that, you have all your most powerful vassals in your prison and with the criminal trait. This means you have one action against them that you can achieve without gaining tyranny. Take away their kingdom titles. Now they'll still have the powerful duchies after that, so then modify their contracts to enforce partition. This is more effective because instead, when the next generation of the empire comes around, rather than your children being without alliances, it will be their children being without land.
    Then after that, if you've already got all the land you want and are just trying to hold it together, you'll want to go down the stewardship tree on the right hand side, all about discouraging vassals from joining factions and decreasing tyranny gain. Plus take either intrigue or diplomacy trees that increase your dread. Then, it depending on whether you have a personality that gives you a lot of stress, killing a few minor prisoners for that dread to keep vassals in line should be enough to stop anymore uprisings.
    But yeah, marriages and even that stewardship tree are temporary solutions that will end as soon as your very mortal character dies. What you want is a colossal civil war that will allow you to reforge your empire into something over which you can rule with an iron fist.
    And sure, I like granting out kingdom vassals as well. It means there's a lot less vassals to manage. Even when Zieley was king of England, Kent and Mercia were still totalling together around 20,000. So give your Kingdoms to your children or your dynasty. They won't have to rise up, because they're in line for the empire anyway.
