I love how the higher the notes are the higher Brett’s eyebrows go
I mean that's how wind instrument works, so to be in sync they do stuff like that

Here's a useful mnemonic :
Brett needs *B* inoculars

I love the harder the pieces progresses the more they bend down closer the music 😂😂
Yaaas exactly!! It's like, the harder the pieces are, the more notes there would be in the scores. The more notes there would be in the scores, the more packed the scores would be. And the more packed the scores are, the smaller the notes are. Hence, the smaller the notes are, the lower Brett and eddy bends down towards the score. Hahaha

Bailey Rickman what is easy for you, may be hard for others
@@heyytheree oh hello ling ling
For people who aren’t musicians:
+ = left hand pizz, which is hard to do since you are using your left hand for notes at the same time
︶ = legato, which means they have to play the notes included in that legato in the same bow movement
. = if it’s over the note it means staccato, or with emphasis
0 = played with an empty string (no fingers on the string)
4 = played with 4th finger on the string before
I know this isn’t everything, but I hope this helped
edit: please see replies for better music advice
This week I started learning about left hand pizzicato and I have only been playing for over a yr and I can tell you it is hard. It isn't so bad on the A and E string but the G and D string is harder as you have to bend your wrist at an odd angle to pluck the strings and play it pizzicato with your left hand :s
However, in the baroque and early classical period, the + sign was the trill sign. Unfortunately, this has changed to mean LH pizz, but Eddy didn’t realise (perhaps historically informed practice isn’t his thing...)
@@samueloliver-sherry-musici9171 exactly, especially with French Baroque pieces. Hehe, thanks for sharing!
Youre a hero my knowledge about partitures is very slim and I havent read one in a long time so it really helps although I play guitar not violin
To add on a minor point, if the legato notation spans across 2 same notes e.g. D to D, it’s called a tie which means that you have to play the combined duration of both notes in one go
I am the only one who quickly forgot about the challenge and just ended up enjoying the music watching this video ??

Nope, definitely not alone there 😊

Every one was good but I think the Leclair was a little iffy I heard the original and there was no C sharps at the beginning, and the left hand pizz. were originally mordents (small trills)
Nice to know that no matter the instrument we all lean in super close to the music when sight reading as if that's gonna save us!!!

@Orly Yap
Welcome to the channel ! 🤗
To understand what is pizzicato, you can watch these two videos they made :
"All Violin Techniques Ranked in Difficulty" m.ruclips.net/video/pYi8dIxRhCg/видео.html (Brett's left hand pizzicato at 2:02)
"How Violin Techniques Were Invented" m.ruclips.net/video/ipAWLvkaWGg/видео.html (Pizzicato at 2:43)
While the purely comedic videos are wonderful, my favorite content you guys produce is things like this where you're playing seriously but with a light-hearted challenge, like sight-reading.
i like how much you guys stress practicing, because practicing can lead to pay-off like this. most people tend to just look at other people who are good at something and forget that a lot of effort went into that, and this is one of the places where that hardwork is mentioned again and again.
Totally agree with you. And everything you wrote was illustrated in one of the most inspirational video they've made (it's from 2015 but still one of my favourite) : "Motivational Practice Video" m.ruclips.net/video/l9xOrjbfs3w/видео.html .
And it's those small consistent efforts. Even if it's ten or fifteen minutes, it makes a world of difference. And if you need proof of that, watch their "15 Minutes of Practice Duet," where they actually play the last piece in this video, and it is almost perfect. Granted, they are professionals, and they only did the first movement, but still! Fifteen minutes, one movement? Insane! Here's that video: ruclips.net/video/MjPz31Klga8/видео.html
As a pianist, it’s so weird seeing both lines in treble clef

I love how sometimes the lh goes so high it’s like “we could use 12 ledger lines, but idrc”
Let's thank the inventor of 8va or 8vb 😂
I’m a pianist and I’m telling you it’s very common for left hand to play treble clef and right hand to play bass clef as well.
As a pianist and violinist, nahh sometimes violin music be looking like piano music and other way round. Like 2 songs in my tiny little piano repertoire have both hands in treble clef

What I noticed was that for Level 1, and a little bit of Level 2, is that Brett and Eddy started off at a certain tempo, then halfway through they rushed that tempo even though there were no tempo changes for both pieces. They basically said "let's go faster" mentally lolol
It could also be a sign of boredom: " *Yaaaawn!* This piece is way too easy for us to play. Let's finish it quickly, and get on with the next one".
