Niels, fabulous work on the restoration of this instrument, always been a big fan of the sound of Hooghuys instruments. Now a question regarding the restoration, it appears from the outside this instrument has a Mandolin register, was this also restored ? I've never actually heard one !
The mandolin action or piano action (i'm not sure what it is) is present in the museum but has been removed for several (musical and practical)reasons by a past owner. That owner made other alterations too. It was decided to restore it in its altered state and not turn it back to how it left the factory. All part of it's history. I'm not involved with the museum or its restoration, just a visitor admiring the beautiful instruments and craftmanship
