I used to be able to handle humid heat like Saigon or Singapore fine when I lived there for 5+ years. As soon as I moved to a drier country, all that adaptability was gone. Now I can barely stand the heat with my shorts and sports tee.

I wanted to get a life insurance policy so my VN wife will have money after I inevitably pass, buy she said all the insurance companies are fraudulent and wouldn't honor the contract/policy. Premiums, she said, would be more like donations.

t is a wonderful and beautiful country with lovely people. I served there in the "American war" ( I am a Aussie 🇦🇺) I have revisited VietNam several times since and the people are getting on with life and not pointing the finger at those of us who served there, in fact we have been welcomed. Many are only too happy to point out some officials as being corrupt, but seem helpless to do anyting about it and accept it as a way of life. I am confident that we in Aussie too are subject to corruption , however it is well hidden and concealed or glossed over by officials and probably not on the scale of that in VietNam. However people should not be put off visiting the country as people are lovely and the Government is doing its best to tackle the problem as it causes distrust of the Communist Party. Don't think foreigners can own land (ie Vietnam red book see some of other of Ken's videos) in Vietnam. Foreigners can own the building on top of the land but not the land itself.
Actually, all SCB depositors got back their deposits in full. The government lent SCB money and put SCB under special control. Only Van Thinh Phat's bond owners haven't received their investment. Truong My Lan has to return money to the bond owners and to SCB so it can pay back the government's lending.

In every tourist destination in Vietnam- there are projects that get framed up and even windows installed- then boom - the money is gone and 10 years later the building is deteriorating alone prime ocean front property.
