Ok, I mentioned this other day to someone else, but, you can buy the acrylic frames at Michael’s, and pull out all cardboard and the fake photo, turn upside down and use it as a tray to slide in and out on a shelf. They come in all sizes, and I have used mine for years. I wait until they go on sale, and measure my shelf to maximize the space. They slide beautifully and work well for me.

I started watching you last year but hadn’t seen your craft video. I love your craft/dining room. I am one of those that had to find a place to craft that was comfortable to me. So, I have a area in my bedroom that I said couldn’t go beyond 6 feet by 6 feet. I have things I rarely use in closets in my house but what I use daily are in bins, pouches, labeled and very accessible. Works for me!
Love your videos, sense of humor and easy to make but lovely cards!🤗💖

Thank you for the tour of your craft/dinning room. I have taken over the smallest spare bedroom. I work on two foldable tables which I have to move away when we have family staying over. The clothes in the 4-drawer chest have slowly been banished and craft tools, cards, envelopes & inks have taken over the space. It's not much but it is my happy place 🤗

I somehow ended up on a RUclips tour of craft room tours tonight. Kristina Warner & Jennifer McGuire had me hyperventilating. I don't know how they don't get so overwhelmed that they can no longer create. And they've both had to pack their work spaces up & move houses with it all. There IS a thing as 'too many craft supplies'!
Thank you jeezus (& CZ) for the craft slash dining room! It is a lot more manageable for my brain to comprehend. I LOVE that it's built in to your family space. Your craft room is clean, tidy & organised, but not to the point of looking almost sterile. It's just a lot more intuitive & productive and a lot less like a supplies gallery. Does that make sense? Basically, I think you've struck the right balance between a.) loving your work, b.) loving your hobby, and c.) most importantly, living & loving your life.
Note: special mention goes to your main squeeze (& all of our partners/loved ones/housemates etc etc) for putting up with 'the stuff'.
Thanks for showing me around Cathy Z :)

Hey Sarah, welcome! Yes, I've worked in the craft industry since 2002, starting out in scrapbooking, working for a few magazines (and currently am the art director for Scrapbook & Cards Today, a fabulous mag!) and I have been in this room all these years. Oh, sure… I've expanded how much of the space I use and presently am OVERFLOWING with products. But such is the case when you design for a major stamp company (Simon Says Stamp!). When my just graduated from law school daughter moves out, I may be stealing some of her closet space for craft storage! But i won't take over her room, otherwise where will my future grand babies stay when they come to visit? : )

Love it. I craft in our small living room sitting in my recliner with TV trays for now. I only just started crafting 4 months ago.. yeah I'm a newbie. But I can't wait for our family to move to a bigger place. With COVID my dad got sent home from a care facility and me, my 18 yr old son and my dad live in his tiny one bedroom apartment... I share the living room with my son and Dad gets the bedroom. He's 73 and has only one leg so I don't have much room or much time providing 24 he care for him but I make do and craft when I can... Thank for the tour and ideas.. your Great, love your videos and watching you create and you make me giggle 🤭 got to love it..

I love your craft space. I think most people are like this with a small space dedicated to something that makes them so happy balancing family life with crafting. For me my balance now includes working from home in my craft space, I have had to rework and rethink my space but 12 months in I think I’m making it work just about. But what is life without always learning and adapting 🤷‍♀️ My absolute favourite thing from your video is those David Bowie mugs!!!! Wow just love them 😍

Hi Cathy, Thank you so much. These ideas help me more than you know. I’m now disabled (I have severe chronic arthritis in mostly my knees plus I had a fall and had surgery on my knee after I ripped my medial miniscus. It was a very bad tear) So now walking is a real issue, I can’t go to work and I haven’t driven my car in 5 years. I had to move home to my elderly parents, both in their mid eighties. I have my bedroom only. But I can craft. I have all my supplies but can’t move atm. I have been trying to work out how I can do this. My dream would be to have my own art studio. Maybe one day but for now still a dream. So I have decided to turn one section from the end of my bed to the wall into a studio...my studio. It will be small but I think it will work. So thank you so much for the great ideas. I think I can do it. So it will be...This is my bedroom slash craft room and don’t forget the dab. Lol Thank you Cathie. I really appreciate it. Love and hugs from Australia 💐

Loved the tour. I do have a large 12x14 designated craft/computer room but since hubby is at the computer most of the time I am at the kitchen table creating. I spend a lot of time walking back and forth between both rooms but my most used supplies are on a rolling cart with a few other items tucked in the corner behind my chair. I use coffee filters instead of cardstock when sprinkling my embossing powders, I find they are a little more flexible for me!

Okay...I NEEDED this tour. I too have a craft room but it’s my “slash” office and I share space with my computer, office supplies and official paperwork. So I needed to see how to maximize space. Plus, the different storage systems was the BEST! I too follow Jennifer McGuire organizing system. BUT the BEST part of the video HANDS DOWN...”the prettiest shopping lists you have ever seen.” Your humor is always spot on. I love watching and listening to you. You sound just like the voice in my head. I started off in this house, just taking a corner of the lounge room. I have now conquered the WHOLE lounge room and we're looking for a new home where the cat and I can have a dedicated craft room, my husband can move back to the lounge room (out of the basement) for all of his televisualing, and the kids....well, for one thing, I can stop the kids from grabbing my oh so expensive top of the line watercolour card for their drawings. I really enjoyed your guided tour and I'm pretty sure your 'stash' isn't always so neat and organised, which makes me feel so much better about my organised chaos. But, late at night, when the rest of the household is asleep, the cat and I sit and craft to our little hearts content (many a project has finished up with her pawprint of approval) knowing that very soon we will be able to craft without 'good natured' barbs directed at our full use of the lounge room. I'm looking forward to the guilt free bliss of it. Thanks so much for sharing your space, see you on your next vid. 💕

I also work from my craft/dining/music room. The right side is the piano and guitar side, in the middle there is the dining room table en on the left is a big cabinet/desk. About 2/3 of this is for storing all craft supplies and then a little piece with dining stuff like the guest plates and not everyday glases

The only difference is I don't do videos, if I was ten years younger I would have opened that door. It is what it is... and I sure do love your videos. Thank you again it was the best spent Saturday morning.

I just picked up 2 of these white Alex drawers last night at the IKEA in Chicago area. I had been watching for them to come back in stock (they were oversold for ever) surprised they had them! They changed the item number. I checked that they were the same the clerk said yes. Was not happy since I had been looking for ever and they never notified of the change. But at least I found them to finish off my new craft room 🤩

I started in the dining room during my 20’s(57now). I got married 14 years ago and my husband soon learned that crafting is simply part of my DNA.
I love my imperfect, unfinished basement Craft Room. My husband helps me with lighting, rearranging and building. Even as we discuss retirement planning he knows my craft room is one area I am not downsizing. Just make time for crafting no matter the size, or location of your space. I make time weekly and plan my crafts.

I loved it!! Why NOT use what you have? Haha. Let me tell you about that. 3 yrs ago I had a roommate and it worked great about 6 years. Then for medical reasons, she had to move closer to her daughter. I had a 2 bedroom apartment and I didn’t want to move. She also took most of the furniture because it was hers. I was left with a bed, two sofas and assorted desks, Origami shelves and folding tables. Perfect just for me. I turned the main room into a craft room. The bedroom has my desk and bed. The master bedroom became my “den”. My coloring books and an assortment of coloring items live in there because the TV does too. But my entire apartment is crafting. I was looking at the dining room yesterday for.....never mind. I have to eat somewhere. So that’s why I LOVED your video. It was like coming home! 🏠 ❤️

I watched this live and commented, but I am really bad at technology. I looked forward to it all week. Such a great space. We all do what we can. For years I had to put everything away, every single time I made a card... what a pain. I have a room now... but Covid stole it... or made my husband steal it. It's great to see where all your magic happens.

Love your videos 😍I always learn something new. My son moved to the basement a few years ago and I took over his room for my craft/work space, as I have worked from home for the last 3 years. I am still trying to organize it to work best for me. All of my storage is “extra” furniture from around the house that is not being used anymore. I’m thankful to see craft spaces that are a mishmash of had items and not all new and pretty. It gives me ideas for uses of what I already have on hand. I have recently decided that drawers are the bomb to storage and the best use of space. The only thing better is your cabinets with the adjustable shelves, those are pretty awesome. Love the freedom of adjusting to fit your exact need. Thank you, as always for sharing. ☺️

Thank you for your craft room tour. It’s amazingly well organized space. It’s perfect. I craft in my living room. Craft in my super small kitchen. I live in a very small senior one bedroom apt. No place at all to craft. Have small kitchen table full of junk. Even use kitchen counter top to put my die cutting machine on. I have three or four. Big shot plus on my counter right now. My Gemini in my bedroom rest in my closet. I hardly craft because takes me to long to find things. I eat in my living room. My daughter got me this large fold up table I put in my living room now that table is full of craft items. Crafts are in my walk in closet, under my bed in my bedroom drawers. It’s every where’s and I am 75 years old and can’t remember where something is. Been looking for my lamp post die for a couple of weeks and where is it. Just a mess. I live alone so no husband telling me to move out and take my craft items with me 🤣😂. I am so unorganized right now it stops me from crafting. My daughter gets upset because I order stuff and don’t use it to make cards or whatever. I don’t know what to do. I cannot afford to move. I watch craft videos all day. Thank you for sharing . Love your well organized space.

I love that you are keeping it real! I’m thankful to have a bedroom that I can use as a craft room. The day bed, used by my grandchildren when they visit, doubles as a sorting table. I have a set of awesome shelves for most of my supplies that my dad built for me as a Christmas gift in 1977. I’ll never let them go. My work space is a little, antique knee hole desk that I bought for $30 about 15 years ago. I painted it red, and I love it. Its size has trained me to learn what I really need. BTW, you inspired me to buy that same salt cellar to use for my Lawn Fawn stamp chamois. What a great idea! Thanks for the wonderful tour!

Thank you so much for sharing! I am still organizing in my new craft ‘she shed’. It’s a bigger space than my old scrapbook room - but now it is an all inclusive craft room, so my sewing stuff, cross-stitch, beads, etc. all fight for space. I have stuff that just didn’t fit in here, so those are in totes in our storage Conex box. I’m hoping to do enough crafting that I can eventually downsize all that. I find it very inspiring and interesting to see how different crafters organize their space. And I love your honest, quirky comments.

Thanks for showing your craft space. Lots of good ideas. Regarding your desire for pullouts in the one cabinet-you lose a little width to make room for the hardware but it is totally worth it to access the back of the drawer. Make sure to get full extension hardware. My husband designed our kitchen remodel with pullouts or drawers for all the lower cabinets. No more getting down on my knees to get to the stuff in the back of the cabinet. 😊
