- I'm replacing the carb on a Husqvarna 125 b handheld blower for some reason I lose audio at a couple points in the video mainky the end please like and subscribe
Much appreciated! Great, helpful, and SHORT video. No extra editorializing. Straightforward HOW TO that shows some nice technique as well (if you pay attention). Keep these up!
With the help of your video I changed out my carburetor this morning. It went flawlessly and started up on the first pull. Thank you.
Your very welcome if you need any other videos made let me know
Good video! I replaced the carb on mine yesterday and it really was easy with this videos help!
Great tutorial, tear down and assembly was a breeze with this video. I couldn’t get the fan blade off until you indicated that it was a reverse thread. I was having an oil leak that turned out to be a loose screw on the bottom of the crank case. I initially put the piston and crankcase in backwards until I tried to put the fan blade back on and realized my mistake.
Nice job! Very clear and concise.
Enjoyed the video. My 125 B leaf blower starts fine, then on high motor for about 90 sec. it bogs down. I let off the trigger to catch it before it dies and bring it back up to speed and it immediately dies again, this will repeat. I have changed the air filter, cleaned the tank, changed and gapped the new plug and put on a new carb. It seems that it starts cutting out on high after it gets hot. Gas is marine grade, oil is Stihl. Thank you.
Does it always restart? The symptoms you describe are most often the coil breaking down when hot or an air leak making it lean out
@@Coakleyfixedit207 After writing to you, I went and had my lunch and after a couple of hours had passed went out and tried the blower again. Ran great this time. After a week of using it most every day it is still running fine. I won't even try to figure that out. Thank you.
Thanks for the video, mine is only a couple weeks old and loses power when I squeeze the throttle, I'm gonna give this a try.
Couple weeks old it probably needs both adjustment screws turned out 1/4 to half a turn, they are set lean from factory to hit epa emissions
@@Coakleyfixedit207 worked like a charm, thanks for your help!

Thanks for the support,
Watched the video to see about adjusting the carb....I can't believe they work perfectly just by bolting them in! I got a kit coming today, w/ the special adjustment tool (I guess nothing else works on these)?
Yes you need a special tool there is about 12 or 13 different ones, and it's illegal for a dealer in the USA to sell them, the new carbs are set to the factory settings for whatever they fit, if everything else with the machine is good they should run fine right out of the box, if anything they may need to be a little richer ( they are adjusted lean to hit epa standards) to richen them up turn the H screw out like a smidgen 1/8th of a turn. The cheap Chinese carbs seem to never run quite as good as oem they will function but just never sound quite right
I've got a 125 BV. But can't find anything specifically for my blower. I also can't find a definitive answer as to whether or not the 125B and the 125BV use the same carberator or if they are different. Any help would be grewtly appreciated
Before a carb is changed, make sure the cheap fuel lines aren't cracked slightly, or in half. The cheap clear Fuel lines just don't last like old US made. They crack and cause a lot of issues you are troubleshooting, and it is only the fuel line causing your headache. Also, the 2 gaskets are different. Pay attention to which of the old goes where/compare shape and pattern to new. Mine began to run like crap. It turned out to be a crack in the fuel line sucking air/leaking fuel.
You’re the man! Just did mine - thank you!
Mine was doing the same thing and i adjusted the high speed jet(left) out a half of turn and it runs perfect. I bet that is 99% of peoples problem with these because ive had this problem eber since it was new.
Yes all of them are adjusted lean from the factory to hit epa emissions standards,
Great video Ryan! I can tell by the way you move that you are talented and experienced. I am fighting the same thing, but it is more severe in that the fuel lines are shot too. I have never seen a more corroded fuel system! The lead end of the fuel filter corroded and there was junk all in the gas tank and the carb. It was so bad that both butterfly shafts were completely stuck. Since it was going to take a week to get a new carb, I tried to clean up the old one - against my better judgment.... I got it clean, but the diaphragm and reeds were crispy. Sure enough, it wouldn't run right.... I have ordered what I hope to be an OEM kit from Amazon. Few questions:
1. Have you ever seen the lead end of a fuel filter corrode like that?
2. I know ethanol free fuel is better, but should the unit be run dry at the end of the season?
3. Would you agree that the cheap knock off carbs from Amazon should be avoided? I got burned badly...
4. Do you have a video on tuning a 2 cycle carb? I have trouble telling the difference between starving and loading up, and I've never been sure about the L setting.
5. Now that I am semi retired, I find myself repairing all sorts of lawn equipment for my friends. I am getting tired of doing it for nothing. but I want to be fair. What is your shop rate?
Again, thanks for a great vid. I liked and subscribed. Now you are past the bad number of 666 :-)
Yes ethanol will eat anything, ethanol free fuel still needs to be stabilized I run strictly canned gas in all my 2 stroke stuff but keep in mind and I dont use my stuff much, chinese carbs are 50/50 chance they will work also rebuilding a carb is a 50/50 shot. I dont own my own shop I'm employed at one of the largest shops in my state and our shop rate is 75 per hr, but the going rate seems to be between 45-100 per hr
Oh also running dry is NOT the way to go it gives all the seals, diaphragm and rubber bits a chance to dry out, shrink and crack etc... it's best to run the pump gas out than run in a small amount of premixed canned fuel for seasonal storage than come spring you can just pour fresh in over it and you wont have any issues
@@Coakleyfixedit207 Thanks much for taking the time to answer. I have had the same experience you described in that a cheap or rebuilt carb is about a 50/50 shot. Why is that the case on a rebuild? I just assumed I had been doing something wrong. Thanks.
@@briananderson2780 because the carbs have check valves and tiny passage ways inside them that can't be seen or replaced, at my work we dont even rebuild carbs anymore its more cost effective to just replace and move on usually
Thanks. I thought I had hit the jackpot with the cheap carbs from Amazon, but I got a bad one. I am about where you are now... If some B12 and compressed air won't get it quickly, buy OEM and be done with it. Thanks for the prompt reply.
Great video & to the point. I have the same blower & it's ran great besides lately I've noticed the carb seems to be loose which is making it shake & not run properly. Would just tightening the two 8mm nuts tighten it back up?
Yes unless the intake block is broke
Thank you for the video! I was looking at carburetors online and the ones on Amazon are cheaper than the Husqvarna site. Do you know if they are the same quality?
They are a 50/50 gamble seen some work perfect seen some not work at all, I lived in Humboldt County for 2 years
@@Coakleyfixedit207 Okay for sure. It's a beautiful place to live!
Informative video. Few days ago, I purchased used Husqvarna 125 BV and it starts and runs pretty good. When I turn off the choke and full throttle it's pretty powerful. But release the throttle and let it idle, the engine flutters and dies. I tried putting on full choke, half choke, and it won't start. But when I pump the primer again, it starts. Do you think this would need a new carb or just need carb adjustment? Thanks.
I would try turning the low speed adjustment out a little and see if that helps,
Is there a need to adjust the new carburetor now that it's installed? Thanks for explaining each procedure clearly. Did the blower start up right away? You didn't demonstrate how easy it was to start it with the new carburetor!
Most of the time they will run with a new carb and just minor fine adjustments are needed MOST of the time I have seen some carbs the weren't set from the factory, I've seen new carbs have the metering levers off from where they should be set but most of the time a factory set carb should run from the get go with small fine adjustments being needed once its warmed up
i’ll give it five stars *****, Easy Peezy no muss no fuss. Excellent!
Thanks Ryan! I was reading what you said to Chris Woodruff below and I have something similar. For the past two seasons, I have used my 125B until it dies on its own (about 30 min or so) and won't restart until I come back another day to use. This past week, I started her up and about two minutes, died and would not restart at all. I have a new carb (Amazon), and before I start tearing it apart, I want to test the spark. I used a spark tester on the plug and pulled the cord but no spark. Should I be looking at a new ignition also?
If it has no spark it's almost always the coil or the switch is bad but I hardly ever come across that, it's a bit of a project to do the coil if you've never done one on these
My air filter box wiggles around. Is that normal?
Great job, very well explained.
Thank you
Great review has it held up? still using it?or would you recommend a different handheld blower?
This was a customers it never came back so I assume all is well, but I would not recommend buying one of these get an echo the build quality is much better
I wouldn’t recommend it … I made the mistake of buying one and it starts up great but my wife’s hair dryer has more balls. Swiss made in China.
So what do you do with the old carb ? Surely not toss it? I ask because I left old gas in mine I dumped it and added new gas and now it runs but not as strong as last season thinkin might need a new carb
Right in the trash
I just looked up the part 15 - 20 bucks might as well trash the old one
I have same model, about 9-10 years old. Changed air filter, fuel filter and spark plug. Runs great but just started not being able to idle. I use the fuel additive. Any suggestions?
Turn both adjustments out just a whisker if its never been adjusted carbs come set lean from the factory to hit epa emissions after awhile they need to be richened up
Muffler screen is clogged I bet.
@@Coakleyfixedit207 so just found your video, my blower is roughly 5 years old been working great, will stall on WOT. When you say turn out does that mean turn to the left or right? I'm assuming left but want to confirm. Going to try that before anything else.
Spiros Zangotsis need help?
@@lukeWiz44 nah I got the tool off Amazon and I think I got it going good. Well see though
Great video! I have a 125bv starts right up,runs until i turn the choke off. Would be greatly appreciated if you have a fix! Thank you and keep up the fine work!😎👊
That's a broad symptom, try checking the fuel lines for cracks or if its broke inside the tank also could be as simple as turning both adjustment screws out half a turn
How long did the original carburetor last before it had to be replaced?
Also can it be adjusted with the screw from the access slots on the top side ?
Yes they can be adjusted but a junk carb adjusting won't help, carbs life is fully dependent on the fuel run through them or amount they get run the more they are run the longer they will last (with good fuel)
I have torn mine apart, replaced the carb, fuel lines, fuel bulb, tank cap, crankshaft seals and it still will not stay running. I thought it was a fuel issue to start off with. It will only start on full choke. I flip the choke to the middle, once it starts and attempt to throttle, but it bogs out. Do the high/low screws need to be adjusted? I haven’t touched them yet. Any help is appreciated.
Try turn both screws out 1/4 turn and try it, also I'd pull the muffler and check the front of the piston for scratches
Georgia need a nail clipping...LOL...
Huh?
Was the new carb properly adjusted?
New carbs come set slightly lean to hit epa emissions so they do need some tweaking
If there isn’t a gasket between carb and air filter housing would that cause the leaf blower not to start?
No
Ryan's Knives and Repair do you have any ideas why it wouldn’t be starting? The igniting coil is good. park plug is good. Air filter good. Spark arrestor is good. The kill switch is good. New car but I think someone has messed with the L and H adjustments. Do you think the L and H being off would cause it not to start?
@@kyleroyer9227 9 times out of 10 if the machine isnt blown it's a fuel issue
@@kyleroyer9227 yes the factory settings are 1 turn out from GENTLY seated if it wont run atleast good enough to tune from that point you have other issues
Mine runs to rich do you think it’s the adjustment screws?
Yeah, could be the mix your using or a clogged air filter also
Replaced my carb, replaced my gas. Still having issues after the blower starts up and runs for about 5 minutes. All of a sudden it just stalls then I can't get it to restart until I wait for about 5 minutes then try again. Any ideas?
I had similar problem, check fuel lines aren’t bent preventing gas to pass through.
Check for spark when it dies, or crack the gas cap and see if it stays running
Excellent! Thanks
Thanks for the video. My blower is brand new, it’s some BS
Great video. Thanks for sharing!
Even with a new cheap carb, it may not run. Most carb kits will include the adjust tool which is a good indication that you are going to have to tweak. I'm throwing mine away after next fail to run and going back to ECHO.
The echo is hands down a much better product
My uncle bought one of these junk blowers. It runs good at full throttle but it wont idle when you take the throttle lock off even if you crank up the throttle screw so he just runs it at full throttle. It was like that since he bought it. I told him to return it.
To lean on the low end, try turning the low screw out a whisker
They adjust them lean at the factory to hit epa emissions standards
We did try previously but no change.
Where can I get new fuel lines? Mine broke in the tank
Lowe's or homedepot sell kits or an autoparts store
THANKS SHARE VIDEO
Where you buy the carburetor
From husqvarna, I work at a dealer
Like that "roach" clip!!
Excellent video. Thank you.
Your welcome
Thank you for watching
Same while I watch and do this lol
I changed my Carb and it ran for about 3 minutes and then died. I start it again and runs for another minute and dies. Etc... what did i do wrong?
Check for pinched lines, also that symptom could also be the coil though usually a coil wont restart
I have to wonder if it would run though. 😕
Huh?
@@Coakleyfixedit207 I'm sure that it does run but your video doesn't include a run test.
@@davidmeek5652 ohhhh gotcha.
Tks !!
what is that plug number

@@Coakleyfixedit207 thanks a lot
I put a new carburetor on my blower it still bogges
If so might have air in the lines I'm having that problem now I'm gonna try a new carb myself
I think I will take mine over to a small engine specialist. This looks harder than a complex tax return.
It's not bad but if you are dont take it apart first some shops charge more if it's a "basket case"
Ok, problem solved. And I haven't seen anybody else talk about this. Mind you, my 350 was basically useless. Would start but no blowing power whatsoever. Easy fix. Let me know if you want to know what it was. ☺️
@@newmanfertig886 was it the muffler screen plugged?
@@Coakleyfixedit207 Bingo! My small engine mechanic called it California. The screen was black! Very good answer.
@@newmanfertig886 it's pretty common on some husqvarna models, it's a spark arrestor screen to help prevent forest fires
PUT NEW CARB ON STILL NOT GOING FULL RPM
you did not start the blower, I did everything you did and it won't start
Than that's probably not what's wrong, I didnt diagnose your machine for you
